About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- GrimsbyHolidayLover0 contributionsVery Informative and MovingThe guide and driver arrived on time, and right from the start they both gave us lots of information on Gdansk and the history of Poland, also recommending places to visit whilst here. Once at the camp our guide (sorry I’m really bad with names, think it was Melak) walked us around the camp, explaining about the history behind the camp being built, and the locations previous use. He went on to explain the building of the camp, and day to day life there. I found the trip very moving and informative, I would recommend it. Thank youWritten 21 December 2024
- xxCharl_Yxx_210 contributionsAn experienceThis is an experience which is worth taking time from a holiday for. A truly moving journey through a sad and relatively recent point in history. We were lucky enough to have a private transfer and a private guide. The service provided was great, and those involved were very knowledgeable and willing to share their learnings.Written 9 December 2024
- timothycF2060PV0 contributionsTrouble free transferFantastic service from Simon our driver picked us up from airport and returned us after 5days he was very informative and gave us lots of information which was helpful during visit great knowledge of Gdansk, English very good. Would definitely book again superb serviceWritten 30 November 2024
- Hrabba10 contributionsThis is a "don't miss" in my opinionThis is definitely well worth the time and money. The guide knew his budget and was very knowledgeable and answered any question.Written 24 November 2024
- errolk7000 contributionsWonderful History of this Incredible CastleThe castle is an incredible site. Its sheer size is unbelievable. I believe it is built across 52 acres, which is mind-blowing. We bought tickets with the audio guide, which was a great experience as the explanations of the various rooms, artefacts, and exhibits are invaluable. You need to be a little physically able to navigate the various steps, so please be aware. It was a wonderful experience, with so much history since the 13th century. The castle actually took over 200 years to be built, so you can imagine the history. In terms of location, we took a train from Gdanz to Malbork, which was about 30 minutes, then walked for about 20 minutes to the largest brick build castle in the world. The entrance fee is cheap. From memory, less than 10 Euros each. You can literally spend the whole day there, so be prepared.Written 17 November 2024
- AndreaJensen0 contributionsA 100/10 experience! We were so lucky to get a private tour with the guide. Pickup was on time and we were greeted by the nicest and most intellectual guide in Stutthof. An amazing journey through a sad and difficult time in Poland. Thank you!Written 16 November 2024
- PaulAKrause0 contributionsEurope 24 HolidayI visited as part of a cruise tour package whilst in Gdansk. A truly moving tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and made the group's experience but adding additional background stories. In reflection it is so sad what transpired here and it is a tragedy that humans can do this to one another. Great static displays. A must see for anyone interested in history. Glad I did the tour.Written 13 October 2024

All that aside Micheal really brought some of the horrors to life and can tell you all aspects of the camp. Simon the driver was one of the nicest, friendliest people you will ever meet and a wealth of knowledge on everything. - geoffreyp3970 contributionsGood trip to take from GdanskThis is a trip well worth making from Gdansk. It takes about an hour .We were lucky as the only ones that morning .Picked up rom hotel by a very knowledgeable driver who old us quite a lot before we got here. The guide at the camp (Thomaz )was exceptional and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience there. I suspect it is much busier in the Summer . Taxi waited for us and we were back in Gdansk just after lunch.Written 8 January 2024
- Lesley S0 contributionsThank you Simon and ThomasWe was picked up from our hotel by Simon he had vast knowledge of the area and told us lots of historic facts on the way , we then meet Thomas who was our guide around the camp , he was very informative and we learnt a lot . It was upsetting to see what people had to go through but I’m so glad we took time to visit on our first trip to PolandWritten 17 December 2023

Malbork Castle was one of the places that impressed me the most among the places I have visited that can be counted on the fingers of one hand. As you know, Malbork Castle is known as the "largest castle in the world". Especially if we are going to a place with such a wonderful reputation, talking about our tour gets very exciting.
Even though I went with a group of about twenty people, I almost returned alone because I got lost there! The only point I deducted was due to this situation, which showed my complete surprise. Instead of following the group, I followed a small baby and could not find them. I sent a message to my friend saying "I'm lost, where are you?" and luckily he had a camp guide with him at the time and was able to figure out where I was from the photo I sent him. Is it a bad thing that I got lost there? No, I don't think so. On the contrary, it is a sweet memory that I keep telling everyone about. When I returned to the group, they applauded me, saying "The sea has been found"...
Is it possible to go to Malbork Castle and not be impressed! Even seeing the building from the outside is enough to leave your mouth open. There are restaurants and souvenir shops outside the castle. The garden is also quite large. There's no need to ask what's inside anyway 😂. I advise! But be careful not to get lost :-) It is possible because...

Amazing castle. Definitely worth visiting. There are lot of places inside to exhibit. Three gorgeous inner yards. Such a beautiful medieval castle. The castle is large. The price is 70 zlotych. You can get an audio guide on many languages (Russian as well). The exhibition lasts 3-5 hours. You can have a break whenever you want just by pausing the guide.

Had an amazing time on this tour. It was very convenient to get picked from my hotel in Gdańsk and the driver was great too. The tour of the castle lasted about 3 hours, our guide was very experienced and knowledgeable. The guide showed us all of the best parts of the castle and knew all the history of each part.

Fantastic tour with a great guide, Alisia. The castle is so impressive in terms of beautiful interiors and the sheer scale. 120 years and 250m bricks to build!
The ingenuity from 700 years ago is amazing with underground heating, spy holes and toilet towers. A great visit

Our guide at the castle, Gregory, was wonderful. He was very patient and answered our many questions. It was more like being shown around by a knowledgeable friend than by a tourist guide. Our driver was an excellent driver and also personable. He was on time. We shared many stories of our respective cultures. Again, we were talking as friends. We would recommend both.

Our visit to Malbork Castle, the largest brick castle in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was an unforgettable experience for the entire family. Located in northern Poland, this medieval fortress was once the headquarters of the Teutonic Knights and is a must-see for history enthusiasts.
Arrival and First Impressions
As we approached the castle, the sheer size of the structure was awe-inspiring. The towering brick walls and massive gates make you feel like you've stepped back in time. The castle is situated on the banks of the Nogat River, providing beautiful views that add to its charm.
Exploring the Castle Grounds
Once inside, we were able to explore the castle at our own pace. The complex is vast, with several sections, including the High Castle, Middle Castle, and Lower Castle. We started by wandering through the impressive courtyard, where we were immediately taken in by the towering walls and sprawling layout.
The High Castle, which housed the grandest rooms, was a highlight. We marveled at the intricately detailed walls and beautiful frescoes that remain preserved despite centuries of wear. It was fascinating to imagine what life must have been like for the knights and rulers who lived here.
The Museum Exhibits
One of the most impressive aspects of Malbork Castle is its museum. Inside, the exhibits are well-curated and informative, giving us insights into the castle's history, the Teutonic Order, and medieval military life. Our kids especially enjoyed the displays of weapons, armor, and the detailed models of the castle at different stages of its development.
The Grand Refectory and the chapel were two other highlights. The chapel’s stunning architecture and peaceful atmosphere were incredible, and the refectory’s long tables evoked images of medieval feasts.
Activities and Guided Tours
We opted for a guided tour, which was a great decision. The guide was knowledgeable and engaging, sharing fascinating stories and legends that brought the history of the castle to life. Our children enjoyed the interactive parts of the tour, like exploring the underground chambers and hearing about the knights’ daily lives.
For those with an interest in history or architecture, this castle is a treasure trove of stories. There were plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn in depth about the castle’s role in the history of Europe and the Teutonic Knights’ rise and fall.
The Surroundings and Views
The castle’s location next to the river is perfect for taking in the surrounding scenery. We spent some time walking around the outer walls, which offered beautiful panoramic views of the river and surrounding landscape. The entire experience felt like a journey through time.
Family-Friendly Aspects
Malbork Castle is incredibly family-friendly. The paths are mostly easy to navigate, though there are some steps and uneven surfaces in certain areas, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. The kids had a blast exploring the castle, and there are several spots where they can imagine themselves as knights or royalty. There are also small areas with interactive displays to keep younger visitors engaged.
Conclusion
Our visit to Malbork Castle was an unforgettable family experience. The combination of its stunning architecture, rich history, and family-friendly atmosphere made it a perfect destination for all ages. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for an adventure, Malbork Castle offers something for everyone. I highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Poland – it’s a real gem!
