- suemV3721HH0 contributionsA compelling visit, very worthwhileWe have just returned from our 4 day trip to Krakow, we had booked a tour of Auschwitz and Birkenau with a private transfer prior to going on holiday. The guided tour we were given when we arrived was excellent. Of course many harrowing stories and many harrowing things to see. But an unmissable tour and can highly recommend using Krakow Discovery.Written 21 December 2024
- Thepiggiewinks1230 contributionsGreat Experience!Just returned from our trip to Krakow. I am so impressed by this service. Brilliant communication from them in regards to pick up time etc. Our drivers were so friendly and informative. Would not go past booking your trip to Auschwitz & Salt mines with them. 10/10.Written 18 December 2024
- O2918LLmarkk0 contributionsDay trip to Auschwitz and Salt MinesI'm not a trip advisor regular, but I fully recommend this tour out of the many are available for a day trip to Auschwitz and the Salt mines. Good driver, very professional and friendly. Helps you through the crowds and chaos at the Auschwitz entrance. All very punctual and well organised. It's impossible to do this trip on your own in one day, so the price was reasonable. They offer a packed lunch if you want.Written 11 December 2024
- EstherR17480 contributionsWorth a goBoth a humbling and great day. Picked up at hotel, nice and easy. Good value for money. Long day and early start, but worth itWritten 10 December 2024
- juliepP3749IX0 contributionsextremely humbling and thought provokingMy husband and I pre booked this tour when we knew we were coming to Krakow for our city break. We were picked up from our hotel by Bartek who was extremely polite, helpful and knowledgeable and also very kind. We collected on our way 3 other couples and made our way to Auschwitz. On arrival, we were given a packed lunch and had something to eat before being given our tickets and joining the fast track queue to gain entrance and to meet our guide. You do not walk around Auschwitz as an individual but a tour guide takes you through the camp. From the beginning when you walk through a long tunnel and are listening to the names of the dead, you start to feel very humbled and slightly nervous at what you are about to see. Our guide (and I am really sorry but I cant remember her name) was excellent. She was compassionate, empathetic and still emotional. She explained things very clearly and welcomed questions at any point. After visiting Auschwitz 1 you then get back into your mini van and go and see Birkenau and the death camp. Again, it is a very thought provoking place to see and I found myself wandering and just taking in the vastness at the size of the camp. It is really difficult to put into words the things you see, the rooms you visit, the steps you are re tracing of those that died before you but it is definitely something I would recommend you visit; young or old. We should never forget. You also do ALOT of walking so if you struggle keeping a pace, or walking in general you might struggle with this tour.Written 2 September 2024
- Doolie770 contributionsWielichka Salt MineVisited here with friends for a 5 pm guided tour and the whole place were heaving with people queuing in different language rows. Entrance into the bottom section was very gruelling with 378 steps descending the whole way down. Fascinating sculptures carved out of salt were present in various chambers. Very interesting experience, but one visit was adequate owing to the tremendous ascending and descending route.Great experience to have seen this wonderful creation .especially navigating the route with uphill ascent and downhill descent in all the numerous chambers with well lit signage. Alll groups must follow the guide closely. Great gift shop and a cafeteria at the end of the tour. Exit is via two lifts as location was 135 metres down.Written 15 August 2024
- olliegeorge0 contributionsHighly recommendedHighly recommend. We booked to go with a small group but on the day were advised the minibus had broken down so we were taken by car and had our own personal driver who was so friendly and helpful. Communication was great both before and during the trip , Auschwitz was incredibly moving and the salt mine was just incredible. It’s a long day but value for money and highly recommend.Written 19 June 2024
- I8428RZmeredithm0 contributionsAuschwitz and Salt Mine tour, well worth itThe trip was well organized. Pick up was clear and communicated the day before by our driver Mario. Our group of 25-30 people was broken out into 4 vans; my van had 7 people. We drove from Krakow to Auschwitz I where the drivers arranged the tickets and entry. We were provided our headset and met our guide, Patricia, from Auschwitz museum. She provided excellent context and explanation. We then returned to the van and were driven to Auschwitz ll where we met back up with the same guide. Once that was finished we went on to the Salt Mine. We did arrive about 45 minutes before our assigned tour time so we sat at the hotel there for a drink. We then made our way to the line for the English language tour and we're guided by a museum guide (group also a put 25 people. No headsets for this tour, but it wasn't really needed you could hear the guide well enough). The tour organizers offered a pre-ordered box lunch for 50 Polish Zloty per person and we did opt for that. The sandwich was good along with the other items in the bag and it was filling and good to have in the car during the long day.Written 18 June 2024
- amandasS1713PP0 contributionsGroup tripWe were a group of 13 so a group tour was the best option , I contacted krakow discovery who gave me al the costs and info we needed for our visit , I had seen people let down by other companies so was nervous booking but we were not disappointed , collected from our hotel in a comfortable mini bus with a friendly driver who met our guide and she was very informative and passionate , a moving visit which highlighted the atrocious cruelty which was inflicted on so many people , our driver met us to then transfer to Birkenau , again our guide talked and walked us around the camp , a hot day in May so have a sun hat as no shade , Thank you for organisingWritten 12 June 2024

- J7865SAnancyk0 contributionsTrip Advisor did a superb job of coordinating all important details. The guides and drivers knew their jobs.My second visit to this heritage site. It was modernized in some ways compared to my last visit. Found it very interesting and it was laid out very well. The one complaint I have was the duplicate security restrictions. We processed through the first security and scanned our tickets. Then suddenly we had to proceed through a second ticket review process and scan our tickets again. That did not make any sense. It caused some congestion in the line of people waiting to proceed into the Center. The trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mines was the highlight of the day. The sculptors carved by miner was unbelievable. Really enjoyed this part of the trip even more than the Auschwitz. One thing in both tours, this is not made for elderly folks like us. The walking was exhausting but well worth it.Written 14 May 2024

We were personally contacted through SMS by Slavec (the driver) the day before to give us the pickup time. Exactly that time we were picked up in front of the hotel. He was very friendly, helpful and spoke very good English. We felt very save in his car. He answered all other questions we had. We were in a bus with 8 passengers. Maybe it is not the best time to return on a Friday afternoon because of the traffic.
The amount of people in the tour it selves I found a little bit to much which made that we couldn't always here what the guide was telling. (the connection of the headphone was missing then because we were to far apart)
But the guide gave a lot of interesting information
I very much recommend this trip!

We booked a full day trip with krakow Discovery (Salwek) the name of gentleman we dealt with to Auschwitz, Birkenau camp and the Salt mines. We got picked up at 08:00am at our hotel. We were driven to auschwitz(1hr and 10mins) and had a really informative, interesting tour. Our guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. We then had a 10 minute break and we were giving a packed lunch by our driver. This lunch included a bottle of water, apple juice carton, an apple, a banana, a bar and a roll(ham, cheese, lettuce). We then arrived at birkenau camp(5 mins from auschwitz) and continued our tour. We then drove back to the salt mines(1 hour 25mins) where we had another lunch break.Shortly after we commenced our tour with a English speaking tour guide. We started off by going down 380 steps to get to a depth of 67 metres.
We seen many statues and churches. We went down further to a depth of 106 metres were we seen the biggest Chapel. There was then a short 15 minute break. We had access to a gift shop, coffee shop and toilets. After that we met up at the elevators to be brought back up to the surface. Our driver was waiting for use and drove use all back to our hotels. Over all the full day trip was fantastic. We felt both trips were quite do able the one day.
Pick up 8am back at hotel for 7pm

Me and my friend booked a tour for 07/07. We were contacted by Mr. Slawek, the day before the tour, both by email and phone message to confirm the departure, pick up place and time.
The following day we were picked up by the driver from the front of our hotel (really, really nice). The ride was pleasent, good environment and ambient in the car.
The tour guide in Auschwitz really took time to explain and show us around. Everybody spoke perfect English and they were really helpful.
On the way back, we were driven back to the hotel.
The tour was totally worthy, the ride comfortable and really nice services.
I am happy I book my tour with them and I would definetly do it again for the experience.
I recommend them over other conpanies providing same services.
Hope to see you again and thank you for an amazing day.

An experience I’m glad we did. Lovely driver, he collected us at the time agreed and offered to drop us off after the excursion anywhere we wishes and not just back to our hotel which was very nice of him. Although the group you walk around the tour was quite big the bus journey was for a max of 8 people which was nice and spacious. Despite being quite busy the tour guide took her time and was very knowledgeable. The excursion was well organised well and I would recommend anyone doing it.

Booked the tour very easily via trip advisor. Received instructions of our tour itinerary and our pick-up time in advance. Also, the option to purchase a packed lunch as the possibility to purchase food and drink at Auschwitz is limited to vending machines. We opted for a packed lunch each but could have easily shared between 2 as lots of food included.
Konrad, our tour guide was punctual and kept us well informed of timings, etc.
The tour of Auschwitz was very emotional and harrowing in highlighting the unbelievable treatment of the Jews.
If you are considering a trip to Auschwitz-Birkenau, I would highly recommend this one as it was so well organised.

Our driver arrived early for our pick up in a lovely clean, warm vehicle. He explained the details of the day and put on a video about Aushwitz while we drove through the snow to the camp.
Our guide was waiting for us on arrival and after clearing the security at the camp had a superb and informative tour. Comfy shoes a must as this part of the tour is about two hours .
The packed lunch ( ordered through the company the day before ) was very filling and tasty. We eat this on the short drive to the next camp where our guide was again waiting for us .
A superbly well organised tour. Highly recommend

Our driver was very kind and could speak good English. He drove us safely from and to Krakau and from Auschwitz 1 to Birkenau.
We were very glad that we had such a carefree travelling experience for our day to Auschwitz - the visit was, although very educational and impressive - emotionally draining and we were very thankful for the good care the driver took of us that day.
Thank you for a day that we will never forget!

Really "enjoyable" (if that's the right word?). The tour itself was really good, but thomas (our driver ), made the experience for us. Such a lovely man, so helpful and friendly, he really looked after us. He also told us all about the mountain resorts in Poland- we are sold and will definitely be back!

The day before the tour we were contacted by Slavek for the pickup time and if we were interested in a lunchpackage. Slavek picked us up at the metioned time.
Between the two tours we were handed out our lunch package. This package was more than enough with sandwiches, drinks, fruits and a chocolade bar.
Both tours were very interesting and informative.
After the tour Slavek brought us back to our appartment.
We are very satisfied.

Do you also have to purchase entry to the museum separately or is this included in the price of the tour?

I don't remember visiting a museum. Our tour price included transportation and entry into the sites.

Hi What time does the collection start is this a morning trip or afternoon please?
Written 25 June 2019
We did the morning trip & were picked up around 9am. We had 3 other pick ups (group of 7) which meant driving around city in traffic for a while. The journey to Auschwitz took about 1hr10mins so actual tour started at 11am.
Written 26 June 2019
The trip is 6 hours. What time is actually spent in the two camps and what is the travelling time from Krakow
Written 7 April 2019
I think traveling time is about an hour to Auschwitz. During that time you watch a video made by the Russians of their liberation of the sites. Upon arrival at Auschwitz you join a larger tour of the site which takes you thorough several buildings on the 25 acre site. This is where you see the items such as hair and eyeglasses collected by the Nazis. We had a 20 minute break before our designated tour time which we spent getting something to eat as there's no lunch stop. The driver then took us to Auschwitz-Birkenau, the larger site. We walked around that site with a guided tour for at least an hour I think. As well as I can remember, travel time to Auschwitz and return is about 2 hours plus 20 minute break plus half hour or less between sites. It was a very sobering experience for me. Hope this helps.
