About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- O2918LLmarkk0 contributionsDay trip to Auschwitz and Salt MinesI'm not a trip advisor regular, but I fully recommend this tour out of the many are available for a day trip to Auschwitz and the Salt mines. Good driver, very professional and friendly. Helps you through the crowds and chaos at the Auschwitz entrance. All very punctual and well organised. It's impossible to do this trip on your own in one day, so the price was reasonable. They offer a packed lunch if you want.Written 11 December 2024
- EstherR17480 contributionsWorth a goBoth a humbling and great day. Picked up at hotel, nice and easy. Good value for money. Long day and early start, but worth itWritten 10 December 2024
- michael b0 contributionsAmazing experienceAmazing experience…… although very sad tour guide was very knowledgeable and we got to see a number of things make sure u wear comfortable shoes as you will be walking a lotWritten 12 September 2024
- juliepP3749IX0 contributionsextremely humbling and thought provokingMy husband and I pre booked this tour when we knew we were coming to Krakow for our city break. We were picked up from our hotel by Bartek who was extremely polite, helpful and knowledgeable and also very kind. We collected on our way 3 other couples and made our way to Auschwitz. On arrival, we were given a packed lunch and had something to eat before being given our tickets and joining the fast track queue to gain entrance and to meet our guide. You do not walk around Auschwitz as an individual but a tour guide takes you through the camp. From the beginning when you walk through a long tunnel and are listening to the names of the dead, you start to feel very humbled and slightly nervous at what you are about to see. Our guide (and I am really sorry but I cant remember her name) was excellent. She was compassionate, empathetic and still emotional. She explained things very clearly and welcomed questions at any point. After visiting Auschwitz 1 you then get back into your mini van and go and see Birkenau and the death camp. Again, it is a very thought provoking place to see and I found myself wandering and just taking in the vastness at the size of the camp. It is really difficult to put into words the things you see, the rooms you visit, the steps you are re tracing of those that died before you but it is definitely something I would recommend you visit; young or old. We should never forget. You also do ALOT of walking so if you struggle keeping a pace, or walking in general you might struggle with this tour.Written 2 September 2024
- Doolie770 contributionsWielichka Salt MineVisited here with friends for a 5 pm guided tour and the whole place were heaving with people queuing in different language rows. Entrance into the bottom section was very gruelling with 378 steps descending the whole way down. Fascinating sculptures carved out of salt were present in various chambers. Very interesting experience, but one visit was adequate owing to the tremendous ascending and descending route.Great experience to have seen this wonderful creation .especially navigating the route with uphill ascent and downhill descent in all the numerous chambers with well lit signage. Alll groups must follow the guide closely. Great gift shop and a cafeteria at the end of the tour. Exit is via two lifts as location was 135 metres down.Written 15 August 2024
- olliegeorge0 contributionsHighly recommendedHighly recommend. We booked to go with a small group but on the day were advised the minibus had broken down so we were taken by car and had our own personal driver who was so friendly and helpful. Communication was great both before and during the trip , Auschwitz was incredibly moving and the salt mine was just incredible. It’s a long day but value for money and highly recommend.Written 19 June 2024
- I8428RZmeredithm0 contributionsAuschwitz and Salt Mine tour, well worth itThe trip was well organized. Pick up was clear and communicated the day before by our driver Mario. Our group of 25-30 people was broken out into 4 vans; my van had 7 people. We drove from Krakow to Auschwitz I where the drivers arranged the tickets and entry. We were provided our headset and met our guide, Patricia, from Auschwitz museum. She provided excellent context and explanation. We then returned to the van and were driven to Auschwitz ll where we met back up with the same guide. Once that was finished we went on to the Salt Mine. We did arrive about 45 minutes before our assigned tour time so we sat at the hotel there for a drink. We then made our way to the line for the English language tour and we're guided by a museum guide (group also a put 25 people. No headsets for this tour, but it wasn't really needed you could hear the guide well enough). The tour organizers offered a pre-ordered box lunch for 50 Polish Zloty per person and we did opt for that. The sandwich was good along with the other items in the bag and it was filling and good to have in the car during the long day.Written 18 June 2024
- amandasS1713PP0 contributionsGroup tripWe were a group of 13 so a group tour was the best option , I contacted krakow discovery who gave me al the costs and info we needed for our visit , I had seen people let down by other companies so was nervous booking but we were not disappointed , collected from our hotel in a comfortable mini bus with a friendly driver who met our guide and she was very informative and passionate , a moving visit which highlighted the atrocious cruelty which was inflicted on so many people , our driver met us to then transfer to Birkenau , again our guide talked and walked us around the camp , a hot day in May so have a sun hat as no shade , Thank you for organisingWritten 12 June 2024
- Kevster56640 contributionsGreat Day outExcellent day out at both these locations The Salt Mines were amazing. Lift back to the surface was an “experience” Great driver (Bartek) who looked after us all day even arranging our packed lunch.Written 9 June 2024
- aileenm6030 contributionsYour from KrakowWe had an amazing time in Krakow, fabulous city, so much to do, fabulous restaurants and very safe. Special mention to Mario our driver to Auschwitz. Berkenau, Salt mines and back…. he was super efficient and very informative, we were very lucky to have him.Written 26 May 2024
- J7865SAnancyk0 contributionsTrip Advisor did a superb job of coordinating all important details. The guides and drivers knew their jobs.My second visit to this heritage site. It was modernized in some ways compared to my last visit. Found it very interesting and it was laid out very well. The one complaint I have was the duplicate security restrictions. We processed through the first security and scanned our tickets. Then suddenly we had to proceed through a second ticket review process and scan our tickets again. That did not make any sense. It caused some congestion in the line of people waiting to proceed into the Center. The trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mines was the highlight of the day. The sculptors carved by miner was unbelievable. Really enjoyed this part of the trip even more than the Auschwitz. One thing in both tours, this is not made for elderly folks like us. The walking was exhausting but well worth it.Written 14 May 2024
- jimmykC2064PN0 contributionsA slap on the cheek of humanity and a reminder to a World on the edge ..A must visit .. "Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it " If you don't know brace yourself, If you've seen movies and read books on the Holocaust .. Visiting the camps and touching its very existence makes it totally real.. Be calm be reflective be peaceful for those that were persecuted and murdered in such an evil way .. and pray that weak humanity never ever resorts to this evil again.Written 9 May 2024
- 488debbyc0 contributionsA must for everyone.Great trip and a must for everyone. We'll organised but a little long queuing to get in but worth the wait. Very moving and the tour guide very knowledgeable. Driver picked us up and communicated via what's app which was great. On time and safe transfer . Overall nit to be missed.Written 14 April 2024

The tour operator especially driver David were excellent.
David is a real gentleman, nothing being too much trouble, EXCELLENT !
The Museum and tour itself is tastefully done and thought provoking, everyone should do when Krakow so we never forget.
Schools, in my opinion should stop wasting time taking children skiing and visit here.

A great tour full of history and very informative. You had to pinch yourself to think that so many died and suffered there. You need you walking legs on and sensible shoes ground very uneven in parts to be expected but just a warning for those who find it difficult to walk. Also another tip go on your own rather than tour, as guide races ahead every where not alot of time to take photos or take it all in in parts it felt rushed and they wanted rid of you. Just a personal tip the next time I visit it will be on my own not a tour, but all that to one side a fantastic trip

The tour was brilliant. Very interesting, the guides speak excellent English and you get headphones that tune into a radio station so you can hear everything the guide is saying and nothing distracts you. The driver was fantastic, went out of his way to explain things to us about krakow and about aushwits, he even went out of his way to show us something we were interested in on the drive to the tour. He stayed with us until the tour began and he met us straight after, took us to the car and he made sure we were okay, constantly asking if we were enjoying it and everything was okay for us etc. He gave us time for toilet breaks, snack breaks etc. And engaged in great conversation. Picked us up right on time from our hotel, we had a private transfer so it was a straight run to the tour and he was very happy to answer any questions we had about krakow and he continued to ask us questions too and showed a great interest in us and our visit to krakow. Would highly recommend. Again, the tour itself is brilliant, we wished we had done more but we didn’t get enough time. Would definitely go back

Well organised trip with friendly driver and good guide. The site itself was very busy and I think it would have been much more difficult to visit without the support of the organised trip. I would recommend booking one of these tours for a smooth experience.

We were fortunate enough to have an excellent guide in David. Clear, calm and knowledgeable. A sombre trip but important to understand the full horror that had to be endured.

Well where to start, luckily there are not many sites like this to visit in the world but this is a humbling eye opener. In our party of 6 we had all seen various films and read many books regarding the Holocaust but until you visit here it means little. Seeing the size of the operation, Auschwitz-Birkenau especially only then can you comprehend the scale of what happened. I wont dwell on the content as it is widely known but the way it is presented is done respectfully and in not too dramatic a fashion.
The trip was organised through KrakowDiscovery.com who we used a number of times during our stay and found they were always very prompt, friendly and at a very competitive price, so much so i have already recommended them to a group of friends who are visiting in a couple of weeks time.

Dear mr/mrs. We just arrived in Krakow and have looked forward to a trip to Auswitch with snittet conpany tomorrow. Unfortunately they cancelled last minute and it seems like it will be hard finding a trip to Auswitch tomorrow (1st Nov). Do you, by any chance, have room for 4 more people for a trip to Auswitch tomorrow?
With regards Anne
