Our driver, Peter, was an excellent driver. He was helpful & friendly. Chatted to us telling us many interesting facts about Poland & Krakow. He was proud to be Polish & of his country - it was good to hear. He was interested in where we had been. All 3 of us would highly recommend this lovely gentleman!

We reserved a 12 pm tour and then told the day before that only early morning tour guide was available, so had to change plans to accommodate 6:15 am meeting point, which was a 10 min walk from hotel.
Tour guide had a thick accent and very difficult to understand (English tour), and the headset was very crackly throughout the talks. No opportunity to get food or water during the tour, so if you dont bring it yourself (which we did not), you go without until the end (6 hours later). There were many tours happening at the same time so we had to rush to keep up with ours and many times did not get a chance to read the plaques or view the photos. We did not get any time to visit the book shop or restaurant onsite. While the museum itself and visit to both sites is worthwhile, I would recommend a different tour group and be prepared with your own food and water.

The tour its self was great, the English speaking guide was very informative and gave a very good tour, however it was the events leading up to the tour that put a dampener on things. So the night before we were due to get picked up at 8am I received a WhatsApp from a third party company that Trip Advisor uses to organise the tour saying that due to a lack of English speaking guides we had to set off to Auschwitz at 5:20am. Not only that but we wouldn’t be getting picked up from our hotel as stated in the tour description, we had to walk to a bus stop about 10 minutes from our hotel where other passengers where getting on. After arriving at the museum the driver told us we had to line up in the queue for people that didn’t have a designated time slot. Which is a bit of a con really as when you book the trip before you go you’d expect to have one already allocated. So we queued for 2 hours from 7:15 until 9:15 when we eventually got to the front we could see that all of the slots for English speaking tours where full and the next available slot was at 13:30 !! Our bus driver had a wad of cash that he was giving us to hand under the counter to the ticket office to book our slot, but dodgey if you ask me, so anyways 4 long hours of sitting around later, we eventually got in and completed our tour which again was faultless just the whole organising of the event resulted in this bad review for me.

After first booking a minivan trip with hotel pickup at 10:00, we were informed the night before we changed to a trip with a big bus and departed at 05:40 at another pickup point 1km away and that we had to expect a long waiting time upon arrival in Auschwitz. The sender at Gr8way was because there was a lack of guides. (If you read the reviews here it may seem that the company sells tours with late pickup without actually being able to carry out...)

We chose to accept the change and got up early in the morning and took us to the pickup place on our own where we were greeted by a nice driver named Pawel who took us comfortably in a newer minivan. He was helpful and arranged tickets and got agreed total admission / meeting time indoors for the whole group of 21 people - so we could not stand in long queues the hour we had to wait.

We were very lucky and were awarded an outstanding skilled guide named Ewelina who took us around Auschwitz and Birkenau. Very knowledgeable, informative and clear guide through strong impressions throughout the day - all in exactly the right amounts.

It corrected a good part of the impression from the start that upon arrival back to the agreed departure in Krakow a straightforward driver named Jan B. arranged with extra service and got us shipped back to the hotel.

In the aftermath we were happy that we got off with an earlier departure than originally agreed for the trip and the day became long enough as it became - so from here early departures are recommended - and so we recommend Gr8way and be more clear on what they actually can offer by available departure times.

Absolutely worth the trip. Very good tour guide Anna. She was very passionate and delivered the information with great detail. We were given a different pick up time than the one we booked which was disappointing but after the trip we felt it was a small price to pay. I am ex military and have seen some unpleasant things but this brings it all home about the attrocities that people had to face under the brutal and grotesque Nazis. It would be beneficial to teens and snowflakes to visit this place to see what life was like and how lucky they are today.
For people with an interest in war history, this is a must. In general, coming to Krakow will please most but the icing on the cake is Auschwitz and Birkenau. One price covers both sites with a shuttle bus included to Birkenau.
It is important to follow the instructions of the guide as there are places where the utmost respect must be paid. Some people on our tour were very emotional so take your tissues.
This experience will live with me for many years.

The tour at Auschwitz was brilliant. Our guide was excellent and it was great experience for my son's to see and her to hear more about what they learn in school.

The transfer was chaotic though (despite this being more expensive that other tour options. We booked an 8am pick up from our hotel and had a confirmation email. Yet the night before I had a text to say it was changed until 5:30am pick up from a meet point. Once on the mini bus we stopped to collect others and then another bus was combined with ours. People didn't know what was happening.
At the museum we had to wait for 90mins before our tour started (so why the earth start from Krakow?!) The question for toilets were long and there was no tap to fill up drinking water. There wasn't much info from our driver about what to do once inside and out group was split up for the tour.

The museum itself was very good and well worth a visit. But the higher prices transfer and unexpected early start with children made the morning quite stressful. If other transfers were available I would have cancelled and rebooked with someone else but the night before everything was booked up and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to visit the museum.

Quite disappointed, arranged hotel pick up and tour to Auschwitz and birkenua. They had arranged pick up from the wrong hotel with similar name despite me having originally sent the correct address and name of hotel. Unable to contact them to inform them of their error. So a taxi was required to get us to the destination of pick up. We shared the ride with a family of 4 others. The driver did not speak to any of us to make polite talk over the whole journey. When we exited the car he seemed rushed walking ahead of us again no conversation only to give instructions. The tour its self was amazing the tour guide was excellent and walked at a pace to allow everyone to gain knowledge and see and hear the history of the tour. She was wonderful x journey home was the same no conversation no music nothing. Everything was rushed and the driver could have made the experience a lot better with some input and light conversation.

      Absolute joke of a trip
Was meant to be picked up at 8 at hotel
The night before got a message that we had to be there for. 5.45
Then got phone call asking where we were
We informed them we were at the meeting place stated on trip advisor
They then informed me that was not the place they were told to pick me up
When we arrived we were told to go and join the queue and they put a yellow sticker on us to keep us together
After a hour we got to the front our so called guide started buying tickets with cash so was not booked in advance we were then told that we were going on a German guided tour we spoke to them saying we didn’t speak German and had paid for an English speaking guided tour they informed us there was non available and they would get us booklets and it wasn’t their fault as they were only the driver and guide
They then sent us through the security area and they just disappeared never to be seen again
The whole group around 14-20 people who could not understand German stood around waiting then the guide showed up and led us downstairs to get headsets so we could hear her but we all didn’t get them as she was speaking in German then she was off like linford Christie we decided to walk round and catch bits on the English tours we could latch onto

We missed lots of information and were gutted as this was a once in a lifetime experience
But on the plus it was a very moving experience and glad we carried on

Would never use this company again and
      Recommend that you don’t
Very very upset with this company

Unfortunately, I agree whole heartedly with some of the negative reviews. I echo the same sentiments:

      1. Tour was booked for 10am, only to receive a WhatsApp message late the night before letting us know we’d be picked up from a location about 10 mins away from our hotel at 6:30am.

Maybe the operator needs to make this clearer when booking if this is standard practice for them.

      2. The tour guide which was allocated at the venue had a thick accent and a monotone voice which made it very difficult to understand and follow, especially over the low quality headsets.

      3. The tour was busy and rushed. This is arguably a more generic issue, but worth noting nonetheless.

In a positive note, the bus transfer was seamless and pleasant, but I would seek an alternative tour that has positive reviews about the guide.

Thank you for your opinion Ad.1 Information on the possibility of changing the pick-up time is included in the description of each tour because the pick-up time depends on the time at which the museum assigns us a guide, so the description includes information that the pick-up time is an approximate time. Ad.2 The guides are not our employees but employees of the Auschwitz Museum, so unfortunately we have no influence on how their tours are conducted. Ad.3 Unfortunately, there are a lot of tours taking place on the museum grounds every day, which can cause confusion when conducting them.

Our group of 5 booked to receive this tour, being picked up from our hotel at 10am. The afternoon before, the tour operator (GR8WAY) called to say they would pick us up at 6.30am. We said that this wasn't the agreement and they went back to investigate. Much later that evening, we received a text to say that they were forced to cancel the tour due to "insufficient number of guides." We strongly believe this was just an excuse and they had clearly mucked up on the timings and couldn't fulfil the booking. We were promised a full refund, but this didn't materialise. Further messages we sent to them were ignored. This all went on 6 weeks ago and we are still awaiting a refund and an apology. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, we are dependent on the museum for guides because we cannot have our own and we sincerely apologize for the situation in which we had to cancel the tour because the museum did not have enough guides. In relation to the refund you should always contact the portal you booked your trip with as you paid directly to them.

Due to last minute booking I paid so much money for hotel pick up but after booking they didn’t pick me up from hotel. I had to meet them at one of the pick up locations in Market Square. Too many student tourist visits this time of the year to see this pace for education purpose. I was booked for 10:00 am, but due to busy schedules we had to start early at 7:20am. Cause of that I left hotel 5:45 am. Lot of waiting, wasting of time and money. GR8WAY tour’s told me pick up location which was really hard for me to find. They didn’t give proper, clear instructions. It was really stressful morning in new country by yourself not knowing local language. They should also give seat numbers: I was one of the first person got chance to pick my window seats in front. Drive was long with full of beautiful scenic views from downtown to destination. So seating was important to capture videos. lastly picked up people didn’t have much choice as they left with no view in back. They should have not booked over. One of those unhappy people took my spot without my consent so I had to fight for it. Numbering could have avoided this situation. GR8WAY disappointed me with their services.
Visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau was very difficult and full of emotional pain but very important to know that part of history. If you travel krakow this is one of the place you should surely visit.
