About
Cathedral Island is the oldest and most spectacular part of Wroclaw. We'll take a short walk through the small island to see and learn it's ancient history, and then we will enter the grand Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. We will explore the Medieval history of the city, including Gothic churches, and historical artifacts.
You will hear stories about the backstabbing families that ruled the city, feuding dukes and bishops, and interesting legends that have shaped our city.
Upon arriving at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist we will learn about its thousand years of history, the Catholic's fight against pagan traditions, and the destruction it has sustained throughout the centuries. We will then take a walk inside the cathedral, where I will tell you about the most magnificent relics it possesses. As we make our way further into the church, we will visit the most well preserved parts: beautifully decorated chapels that have survived since the 17th century.

- fieldsaflame0 contributionsThis place rocks! We booked this as a last minute excursion from Wrocław and I’m so glad we did! By far one of my favourite things done during my trip to Poland (even though it’s in the Czech Republic.) We followed the green trail around the park, taking roughly 2 hours to complete- it took a bit longer as we took some detours + snow. The walk itself was very easy to do, I imagine it would be easier in warmer weather but in conditions we did it in I would still recommend to people with minimal hiking experience. The only thing I would say, if you’re heading out when it’s cold, watch your step on the stairs as they’re a bit all over the place. Without snow I reckon they’d be okay though. The national park was beautiful. Not that the weather is in its control but being able to experience such place in snow was a one of a kind experience and a first for me so I was well and truly blown away by it all! I love a rock as much as the next person but these ones were something else. The peace you feel whilst walking around a place like this is hard to describe, the silence of your surroundings really allows you to take it all in. Although it might seem a bit daunting going to a place like this out of season when it’s cold and snowy I would highly recommend doing it- just make sure you’re wearing appropriate footwear- I wore dr marten boots (silly of me i know) and I slipped a good three times 🥲 I’m off to watch Narnia now and tell everyone I’ve been there- never thought I’d be able to say that!Written 11 January 2025
- 854jumanaz0 contributionsAmazing winter landscapeThis trip is a must while in Wroclaw as a day trip. A true hidden wonder in the middle of nowhere which was honestly worth every penny. Our tour guide Mat was really kind and helpful too. My mother need a little more assistance because of the snow and slippery stairs, he helped her with the climb holding her hand and taking it easy. Thank you very much.Written 8 January 2025

- 7michelle930 contributionsAdrspach-Teplice RocksThe rock formations are stunning and it is an amazing place to visit. It was a little crowded, but not enough to spoil our visit. Our main problem was working out how to visit and so I thought that I would write this review to help others. My daughter and I are travelling around the Czech Republic, using public transport. We stayed in Trutnov for 2 nights informer to spend a day at the national park. When we got there, I checked Google Maps to find out how to get there. I had originally planned the trip nearly a way ago and completely forgotten the finer details. According to Google Maps there was no way to get there. There were no buses or trains. We went to the tourist office and was told that there was actually a train that went every 2 hours but had we booked? I had no idea that you had to book and so quickly went to the park website and the one time slot available was 5pm. The last train back was at 7.44pm and so I would have barely any time there. I asked if there was anything else I could do in the area and was told no. I was devastated because we had only come to that town to see the rocks. I spent ages online and eventually discovered that there was a very simple and better way to see them. Get off the train one stop after Adrspach at Teplice Nad Metuji Skaly. It is just another couple of minutes. Leave the station and turn left. After a couple of minutes you will arrive at an area of stalls. Use the (free) public toilet and buy a ticket for the park. There are no timed entries here. We walked all the way through to the Adsprach side. If you don't want to walk that far, the rocks on the Teplice side are just as good and there are not the crowds that there are on the Adsprach side.Written 9 August 2024

- O4383FTkimberlyw0 contributionsWonderful Experience on a Sobering DayI highly recommend booking the Auschwitz-Birkenau Day Tour through Viadrina. Our guide, Mathias, picked us up promptly from our hotel and coordinated getting the English guided tour tickets through the Auschwitz Memorial and Museum so that all we had to do was show up. He was a great driver in the rainy weather and we appreciated the history of Wroclaw, Lower Silesia, and Lesser Poland he provided along our drive. Note that there were only two of us plus Mathias for our drive and we were picked up in a small car. I'm not sure if Viadrina ever does bus tours. As we neared Auschwitz, Mathias offered to stop for a quick breakfast before starting our 8am tour which was also appreciated. Last comment I'll make - we called Viadrina to book our tickets last minute due to a scheduling error and Viadrina/Mathias were incredibly helpful in organizing a last minute day tour for us! While I don't recommend booking last minute, it shows that Viadrina will go above and beyond for their customers.Written 7 April 2024

- zamrom0 contributionsWhat an amazing but moving experience!!!It was an amazing but moving experience at Auschwitz and Birkenau day trip. Adam, the driver who picked us up from the apartment in Wroclaw was so friendly and full of information to share with us along the way up to Auschwitz. He is well informed and knows well the history of the place. During our 3hr drive to and from Auschwitz he stopped us twice each way for a toilet and coffee break. The guide lady (sorry I forgot her name) was very well informed too and shared her knowledge of the place outstandingly. Well done to everyone and thank you for this once in a lifetime experience 🙏Written 17 December 2023

- J M0 contributionsGreat guides, busy tourMaciej was a great guide. I was alone, but he made it very comfortable and was able to get me to the site to make the first tour. The tour itself is extremely busy, so a bit hard to fully take in the reality of the site. But the educator on the tour was also great. It is definitely a tour worth doing.Written 22 October 2023
