We really appreciate the time and the knowledge Greg offered us on this chilly afternoon. Recommended👍🏼Written 16 January 2025

- haralambos240 contributionsGreat Tour!I had a great experience with Absolute Tours in Budapest! The guide was friendly and informative, offering plenty of interesting facts about the city's history and landmarks. The small group size made the tour more personal, and the pace was just right. My only small complaint was that some of the stops could have used a bit more time to explore. Overall, it’s a fantastic way to see the main sights of Budapest, and I’d definitely recommend it!Written 10 November 2024
- edjonescc0 contributionsTerrific guide, Gregory, for Buda Castle tour.Gregory was delightful! He grew up in the area and knows it inside and out. We saw the major sites as well a several off the beaten path sites. Definitely a 5 star -- we hated when the tour ended. The area is amazingly beautiful.Written 8 November 2024
- lisagF9717HB0 contributionsPerfect start to our Budapest City BreakWe booked this walking tour and river cruise on our first night to give us a good insight into what Budapest has to offer. Petra our guide was amazing, she certainly knew her stuff and we were lucky enough to end up with just us 4 so we got a private tour, asked loads of questions and really got to know not just the facts but all the local stories aswell. Petra really made us feel welcome and made us hungry for more knowledge. The city cruise after was just right for a simple sit down and watch the beautiful city scape pass us by. Highly recommended.Written 5 November 2024
- JimBSE0 contributionsBudapest Hammer & Sickle Communist TourThis was the best tour we took on our trip to Budapest. Greg was very knowledgable and equally entertaining, telling us about both experiences under Communism and the city around us. I’m still talking about it now I’m back home, a few hours very well spent.Written 1 November 2024

- Naomi S0 contributionsFascinating tour with RebeccaGood instructions to find the meet point and our tour guide Rebecca. She was very friendly and had a real passion for history, which showed. She was happy to answer questions and give any extra guidance on specific details during our tour. Really enjoyed the experience and would recommend, if you want a more indepth knowledge of Budapest, its history and the Castle district.Written 8 October 2024
- NatFigs0 contributionsGood!Very beautiful and partially free (if you visit the outside area and the surroundings). It is a good spot to do some sightseeing of Pest. The cafés and restaurants in the complex are very expensive, so I wouldn’t recommend that. We were going to buy tickets for the church, when we saw a sign saying that there would be a free concert later that night. So we came back and not only visited it for free, but also listened to two choirs (one local and another one from the U.S.) —which was a good experience. Right next to the church, there is a Hilton hotel that is like a typical 80’s crystal box building and completely ruins the landscape. I don’t know why they allowed to put that there but —quiet frankly— they should demolish it. This is a historical and heritage site.Written 18 September 2024
- Bryd20170 contributionsGreat introduction to beautiful BudapestA fantastic way to see and understand some of the sights of beautiful Budapest. Our guide Petra was very knowledgeable and brought the history to life for us. The combination of daylight to evening, capped off with the lights of the city from the river was truly spectacular.Written 5 September 2024
- FarAway622950230440 contributionsGreg the Guide is the best! True local experienceFantastic experience. Greg was great. We had a small group of 3 people, so it was very easy to move around amongst all the tourists. Greg took us on a more local view of the Buda castle area and gave us some great history about the area. Showed us some spots that tourists probably have no idea about! Gave us a great recommendation to go to the Black Raven restaurant in the Buda castle area for a more local experience. Would take another tour with Greg!Written 26 August 2024
- Jill S0 contributionsGreat intro to BudapestPetra was a great tour guide! She is very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of good, and interesting, facts about Budapest and took us to see quite a few sites. We definitely feel like we got a good feel for the history and city. The boat ride capped off a really great tour!Written 23 May 2024

A very thorough and informative review of Budapest. Petra is an expert guide, making sure we were a complete set as we explored the city on foot and metro. The group was small and not overwhelming as what sometimes happens when the count is too large. Fun group! Petra is an effective communicator and clearly knows the city and it’s history. Thank you, Petra for hosting and sharing beautiful Budapest with us <3

Greg, our guide was amazing 👏 really enjoyed the tour and different aspects of it - walking, tram, underground, and bus, seeing both sides of budapest. He explained everything really well, and his secret surprise at the end was great. Really recommend doing this at the start of your trip to get a sense of the city and some great tips for the rest of your trip.

Superb tour shepherded by Esther. She was a terrific source of historical information and was flexible in conducting the tour. Would recommend for anyone interested in the history of the city who also doesn’t mind the necessary walking as part of the tour.

We had a very informative 4 hour small group tour led by Balanc ( forgive the misspelling, I am sure). He was very knowledgeable regarding the history of Hungary as a country and the people; including past and present history interspaced with some dry humor and jokes that were appropriate to the topic being discussed. He was patient at answering questions and kept the group moving along without making us feel rushed. This tour also gives you an opportunity to learn how the public transit system works and he let us know that those of us 65+ ride for free! Would recommend without hesitation! Oh- and the strudel- make sure and try the cabbage and poppyseed!

Petra met us and charmed us! We were delighted by her in-depth knowledge of not just the sights, but also how they fit within the history of the country. We were ‘painted’ a picture of the time in which they were constructed and first came to prominence.
Highly recommended!

A great way to get an overview of the city, the history of Hungary and tips from a local guide on what to do, cafés and restaurants, how best to move around. Our guide, Anna, was super knowledgeable and entertaining. The strudel stop was fantastic. Thanks, Anna!

The best walking tour we’ve ever done and a great overview of Budapest. Monika, our guide, was outstanding. She showed us how to use public transportation to get around, we saw all the major sites — which would not have been possible with just a walking tour in this sprawling city — and provided so much information about the people, the culture and history. It was an amazing overview and gave us the blueprint for our remaining days. Couldn’t recommend it and her more highly.

Esther was a superb guide. She was incredibly knowledgeable and shared an insight into the history of Budapest that was both interesting and fascinating.
The tour was excellent value for money and included use of public transport too so we got a good chance to explore a wide area of Budapest.
We loved the strudel stop too, a great way to share Hungarian cuisine whilst having a break. Would highly recommend.

We had a small group (5) tour with Greg on Tuesday morning. He was very knowledgeable, open to questions and a pleasant personality.
The strudel stop included a non alcoholic beverage and about 8 different types of strudel.
We took buses and the underground which were included so covered a lot of areas of the city.
We did not enter any buildings but saw them from the outside.
We would highly recommended Greg and felt it was a great introduction to the city.

Esther was a wonderful guide. She was personable and very knowledgeable. The location we stopped for strudel was perfect !
The tour was 3 hour 45 min, walking, subway and bus to get across the city. Gave us the opportunity to know which areas we would like to spend more time in or take additional tours of - Opera House, St Stephen's...etc.
Tour ends at Fisherman's Bastion, recommend you stay in the area and grab lunch before heading out.

I do not have the option of choosing only one person, do you not sell single tickets?
Written 11 August 2022
I am afraid I don't know the answer to this question. Can you contact the seller directly - go onto the website of the organiser. I am sure that the company I used via Tripadvisor would accept single tickets. Sorry I can't be more help. If you do manage to get on the tour and Thomas is your guide - it is definitely worth it - he was a great guide.

What is the maximum size of this group tour? Is it really 50 people?
Written 8 December 2019
I asked this question from the tour guide and the answer is 20 people at the maximum. We were only 5 during last Saturday’s tour and it went very well, more interactive and personal.

We will have our 8 year old with us. Would this tour be good for a child or the right atmosphere for a child?
Written 30 November 2019
I really enjoyed the tour and found it incredibly helpful. I'm not sure how engaged a child would be on this tour. It very much depends on the child.
I was very impressed with Absolute Tours, and they had a variety of ways to explore Budapest. I would go on to their website or contact them about possibilities for tours which involve children.
