- SarahandRichP0 contributionsThe highlight of our whole stay in Budapest! This was over 4 hours so well spent. The food was delicious and eclectic. From Langos to sausage to cakes and of course the drinks, everything was great. Our guide was absolutely brilliant! She was knowledgable and fun, the whole thing just flew by. If you do one thing in Budapest, do this.Written 5 January 2025
- axmarkar0 contributionsNot reliableAt first they asked me to change the date of the tour. Then they asked me to change the tour type. And in between, no answers to my emails. Not reliable.Written 1 January 2025
- PaulaM5350 contributionsGo for it but skip breakfast! This was so much fun and our guide was terrific. The amount of food is almost ridiculous - 4 straight hours of tasty treats, including a full lunch.Written 22 December 2024
- Johnyboy50 contributionsCasual wine, connoisseurs, loving Hungarian wine.We did the essentials of Hungarian wine tasting. I would highly recommend it. With a fantastic time trying eight different types of wines, which were all good. Our host was extremely knowledgeable and fun. If you like wine and wanna learn about and taste Hungarian wine this is a great place to do it.Written 21 December 2024
- J4877BQjessicam0 contributionsMust-do if visiting Budapest! My friend and I love to do food/wine tours when visiting new cities and this one was another awesome experience! Our tour guide Esther shared a lot of information about food/wine and the city so we learned a lot and also tried a ton of great food. The Central Market is beautiful and it was awesome to sample some food with a guide who knew where to take us to get a good variety (langos, sausages, pickles) and it was all so delicous. We made a few different stops and learned more about the city as we walked. The Tasting table was an amazing final stop, where we tried some cheese and wine and learned about Hungarian wine. We weren't in Budapest very long for our trip but we felt like we got a weeks worth of food tasting / knowledge from this one tour and it made for a really fun morning / early afternoon. This is a must-do if you want to get a great sampling of delicious Hungarian food and wine and learn about the city / culture from a very knowledgeable guide!Written 5 December 2024
- S3243ZHmarthat0 contributionsAmazing experience! The chefs table dinner with the wine pairing was just incredible the chef and owners were so gracious and sis a wonderful job explaining each course and wine not to mention the ambiance of the wine cellar was just fantastic I went for my birthday and it was such a great experience I will never forget!Written 16 November 2024
- GlobeTrotting3122630 contributionsCome hungry! The experience was fantastic! When traveling I often opt for historic or architectural tours in cities but occasionally I like to try the local food. If you're interested in how Hungarian food is different, this is the way to go. Our guide Andris walked us through the massive market place with plenty of humorous insights into Hungarian cuisine and culture. After the market place, Andris took us to several other establishments with food samples at every stop. I wish I had not eaten breakfast first! As good as the food was, Andris made it all the better.Written 16 October 2024
- MauirceB0 contributionsWalking our way through dinnerMy wife and I went on the “Palace District Evening Culinary & Wine Walk, with a Side of History.” Our guide was Aniko. This was our third program with Taste Hungary; on a previous visit to Budapest, we went to one of their wine-tasting dinners, and a tour of vineyards on the way from Budapest to Vienna. On this tour, we brought along other family members. We started off with a delicious charcuterie board and wine tasting at the Tasting Table. The tour was like a multi-course dinner, except that different courses were consumed in different establishments, with the final stop a hotel known for its pastries. There was not too much walking — a good thing as it was raining steadily on the evening we went. It was a delicious taste of the city, and it was our third great experience with Taste Hungary.Written 16 October 2024
- Blair A0 contributionsGreat Evening with Taste HungaryWe had a great walk with our tour guide Esther. She was very personable and took her time to explain the areas we were walking through, particularly the Palace neighborhood. The food and wine selections were very good and we finished off with some desert and coffee. I would highly recommend Taste Hungary for an evening of great food, wine and company.Written 11 October 2024

- beatrizhE4977AA0 contributionsWorth every penny and much more. Before anything else, visit it! You will not regret it. Perfect ambience, absolutely lovely people and an experience to remember. During our visit to Budapest, we visited Taste Hungary twice! We initially went for a wine tasting, which Tomas led so beautifully that me and my partner, who go to wine tastings monthly, knew we wanted to come again immediately. Tomas presented a selection of beautiful and delicious wines, all from tiny Hungarian producers, which gave us the opportunity to try wines and grapes we would never have otherwise, and that was such a beautiful night. This, however, pales in comparison to our next experience with them. The following night we went to the Chef’s Table experience, which happens every Friday and is a 6 course dinner with 7 wine pairings. Where do I start? The Chef prepares the food mostly in front of you and the food was nothing less than magical. Once more, locally sourced from small producers and you can taste the freshness of all the dishes. It feels like being part of a top chef’s experiment, and it could not been better. The wine pairings went so well together other guests gasped when it was revealed which dish would be served with the wine, exclaiming how perfect it would go together. I can’t recommend this experience enough, it is worth every penny and more. (Plus, they have a store with all the beautiful wines, bring an extra suitcase)Written 5 October 2024
- michaelwY6639RR0 contributionsLots of wonderful food to try with a great guide.Awesome tour. May be the most fun we had on our entire vacation of 3 cities. Our guide Anna was warm, fun, insightful and overall a pleasure to follow. I feel like we had so many different and interesting stops along the way. Do this tour if you want exposure to local food.Written 24 September 2024
- ChrisS9980 contributionsFun Way to See BudapestEverything about this tour was fantastic! Firstly, it was a small group - only 6 of us. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable about both the food we tasted and the history and culture of Budapest. All of the food was great - we were so full we almost couldn't eat dinner that night! I would highly recommend this tour.Written 22 September 2024
- minnienewf0 contributionsA must do experience! We had several excellent tours while in Budapest but this was the highlight and surpassed them all. Our tour guide Angela was wonderful! We learned so much from her about the history and culture of Budapest as we walked between our food and wine tastings and then we had delicious and incredibly plentiful “tastings” and interesting talks at each stop. Angela taught us about Hungarian culture in a warm and very engaging way. She also helped guide us in purchasing the best quality paprika. We had a terrific variety of food, Unicum, and really enjoyed the last stop of wine tasting and learning about Hungarian wines. Definitely would recommend this as a must do and we would go again and try their other tours. We were a group of five couples in our 60s.Written 22 September 2024
- jeand4680 contributionsFabulous Tokaj Private TourMy wife and I spent an exceptional day with Jon and driver Lazslo in the Tokaj region—really top-class experience, with exceptional tasting line-ups, and a fantastic meal too. I have visited many wine regions around the world, this was one of the best. Our guide was knowledgeable and clearly invested in what he was doing. "The Real Deal", I do not hesitate to recommend it and would love to do it all again!Written 12 September 2024

We visited for an afternoon wine tasting session which included 2 white wines, two red and one fantastic desert wine.
Our host Christian did a great job explaining the history of wine in Hungary and the characteristics of the wine we were tasting.
The wine was accompanied by a very tasty selection of meat and cheeses which were a perfect accompaniment to the wine.
It was a very enjoyable two hours and I would certainly recommend it if you enjoy wine or are looking for an interesting way to spend a few hours in Budapest.

We booked during winter and joined two other parties for a smaller, more private wine tasting. The host was gracious and gave us a lot of information and we had great conversation with the other guests in our group. We all walked away with a few bottles of Hungarian wine. Highly recommend booking the tasting!

If you're on a traveling budget (also time wise), no wine expert and want to have a introduction to wine tasting, then I can recommend this wine tasting experience. Except for meeting a kind and generous staff you'll have the opportunity to chat with other fellow traveller's looking for a glimps into Hungarian winery. While I personally didnt love the red wines offered, the white wines made up for that. Also, the snacks served with the food was very tasty. In conclusion, a very good experience.

The experience was good overall. I felt it was a little rushed and could have spent more time going through each wine one by one and recommend what foods to eat with each one.
The sommelier explained all the reds and white wine together and recommends what to eat but by the time you go to taste you can't remember what he recommended. Bit confusing.

Wonderful wine tasting that included a good amount of meats and cheeses as well as delicious bread. 2 whites, 2 reds and a dessert wine were all issued for the tasting. Each wine was explained, showing what region and describing what grapes. The tasting is set up lovely and gives you enough time to enjoy the wines and try the meats and cheese while talking to the people in your tasting group. Would 100% recommend for anyone who likes wine and wants to learn more about what Hungarian wine has to offer.

We enjoyed our wine tasting at Taste Hungary. The sommelier was experienced and clearly loved the wines he was sharing. He did a great job handling the mix of gregarious chatting of the group and sharing the information we needed/wanted to know about the vintages. He said he was a 5th grade teacher during the day and the skill set came in handy that night. Just a rousing great time, delicious wines, great pours, and handy information. We'd recommend it to anyone interested in wine.

We did the 5 wines option and even as someone who prefers white over red I really enjoyed all the wines. The food was matched so well with the wine and I would recommend you trying the Hungarian Camembert, truffle sauce and white wine 2 altogether. Flavour explosion!
Would love to do some of the other tours or tastings in the future

What a wonderful experience! My husband and I were excited to try different wines in the local regions we visited, but we were blown away by the wine, food and information we received in Budapest. The cellar was beautiful and the charcuterie board was fantastic. I highly recommend this experience if you want to have an experience away from the touristy areas of this beautiful city and learn about their fascinating culture through wine.

Can I bring my children? I have a 5 year old and a 1 year old
Written 17 September 2023
I am not sure if there are any rules prohibiting children. But. You are sat around a table with like minded adults. I think the children, particularly the five year old would be bored. There isn’t room in the room for the child to move around much either. Personally, I wouldn’t take my children of those ages..
