I was fortunate to take this tour in December during the holidays and happened to be the only person on tour. Ange is a great guide, she is passionate about Budapest which makes such a difference during the tour. I felt like this tour gave me insight about the city, the history and its people from a unique perspective. I highly recommend Ange and this tour!

Excellent walking tour with a great guide....Gergo. We have been to Budapest several times and it was refreshing that all the places we visited were new to us. Thanks Gergo for a great tour, highly recommended!

A great way to spend an afternoon with places you wouldn't normally get to see such as the Artists' Club, getting some local knowledge, and learning about a truly enchanting city. Gergo was good fun, great company, and also shared some great recommendations (for places to go, things to eat, and comedy!) for further exploration after the tour.

Thanks a lot for the kind words! It was definitely special and unique tour with the New York Times Journeys. I love to walk around the neighbourhood with people who are open to the world:). If you ever return to Budapest we would be glad to have you again on any of our tours, or at any other Urban Adventures destinations in the future:) All the best, Gergo

Walking tour behind the scenes
When we were the only four on the tour, Gergo, our fantastic guide asked if we wanted to change anything on the itinerary. Not being beer drinkers, he found a quiet wine bar instead. The tour was a mixture of the old and the new with glimpses of how the area is evolving.

Just excellent!

We truly enjoyed the tour. We experienced some places that we just wouldn't have as standard tourists. Gergo is extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions that were asked with a lot of detail and he provided us with plenty of additional information throughout the tour. The food we tried was delicious and the artist centre we visited was brilliant!

I would highly recommend the tour. Perhaps it could be an hour shorter but that just some small feedback, rather than a complaint :)

Dear Daniel, Thanks a lot again for the nice words and for coming to the New York Times Journeys tour! It was my pleasure to take you around:) Your feedback is well noted of course, there are so many things to see and do even just during this itinerary that it is hard to skip, but we will give it a thought:). Hope to have you here in Budapest once more in the future or at any other Urban Adventures destinations, too:). All the best, Gergo

We went on this tour with the marvellous Gergo! From the start he was extremely warm and friendly. He is a fount of information about his city, from historical to art, social, economic, every subject covered and was able to answer all queries from the group. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed it. We would highly recommend this tour. Thank you Gergo!!! Puszis xxx

I went on the NYT Bohemian Walking Tour with Gergo and Fani and had a terrific time! I am curious about all things, and they were so knowledgeable about their subject, taught me a great deal about recent Hungarian history and culture, and especially about the change that's happening there. There are very cool places on the itinerary (a craft beer shop, the artists center) and they really know how to make it come alive. I would expect nothing less from something the NYT sponsors and they really delivered! Quality all the way.

Excellent tour!
Reka was such a friendly, helpful, informative guide! We took this tour on our first day in Budapest, and she told us a lot about the city and her country, and left us with tips on how to explore the rest of the city for our remaining time there. Truly enjoyable tour! Highly recommended!

Off the beaten path in Budapest
May 2019 • Couples
We would definitely recommend this off the beaten path tour of sights and tastes of bohemian Budapest. Our guide, Reka, was wonderful, one of the best we have ever had (and we are pretty seasoned travelers). She was smart, knowledgable, thoughtful and fun! and we just happened to be the only travelers that day so we had her all to ourselves. We saw so much of the city and as we walked it was lovely to hear a perspective on life in Budapest from a young professional. It was early in our week and with Reka's recommendations we went on to enjoy other gems of Budapest known only to insiders. We were so happy to have booked the NYT/ Urban Adventures tour and will seek out such tours again.

Thank you very much for your feedback! We are very proud of The New York Times Journeys tours and as it started fairly recently you were among the first ones to take it. It is reassuring to read such nice things about the tour, but of course it wouldn't be the same without our lovely guides, like Réka. As you wrote that you will seek out UA tours again we really hope to have you here in Budapest in the future, or at any other Urban Adventures destination, as well. All the best,
