About
Learn to make Hungarian goulash and other family recipes with a local expert. Meet Marti at her apartment housed in a historic building in downtown Budapest, a quick walk from the Hungarian State Opera House. Join her in the kitchen, converted into a cooking studio, a large and well equipped space for your hands-on Hungarian cooking class. Learn to cook three dishes from scratch (soup, main course and dessert) during your 2-hour class. Marti's knowledge and passion for cooking is evident in the way she explains in detail how to prepare each dish. After cooking, join Marti at the dining table to share (over beer or wine) traditional Hungarian dishes such as goulash or sour cherry soup, chicken paprikash or beef stew, poppy seed bread dumplings or stewed cabbage and for dessert, gerbeaud (layered cake)! Enjoy Hungarian food and hospitality during this culinary journey where you will learn about Hungarian customs and share stories, recipes, laughter and food like old friends!

We were looking for something different and this was perfect. We went to a private apartment where we met Viki who was to be our teacher and hostess for the evening. She was delightful. It was just the three of us and we helped make a four course meal of a dip with bread, goulash, lechton(a traditional pepper, tomato dish) and bread pudding. We had wine paired with each. The food was delicious. While cooking Viki gave us historical information about the food of Budapest. We left feeling like we had made a new friend.
