Although this was an English-speaking tour, I wish I had done a paid tour. The tour guide's accent was challenging for me to understand. He had a lot of good information to share, which I could understand. I don't always comprehend strong accents very well. The guide strongly suggests donating after the tour, 20 Euros is recommended per person. I walked by another tour later in the day and it seemed more professional and I could understand the tour guide much better.

Our tour went beyond our expectations. The tour guide(Bullash) is experienced and very knowledgable, and his explanations of Hungarian history and the culture made a significant impact on our appreciation of the Buda part of Budapest. I strongly recommend the tour and him to anyone who visits Budapest. It is so worth it to familiarize yourself with the city prior to appreciating it even further.

Entertaining and educational rolled into one!
Andy was a great tour guide. He had a great sense of humour and was able to explain Budapest’s history in way that was light hearted and easy to understand but also sensitive when it came to certain aspects of Budapest’s past. He was willing to answer questions and overall made the whole experience educational and fun. Would definitely recommend the tour. Thanks Andy.

    Superb value and thoroughly informative
Excellent tour. The history of the country was fascinating and something that we would probably never been aware of had we not been on the tour. We wrapped up well due to the time of year, there was lots of walking but it wasn’t rushed, and we were given so much information we re-traced some of the routes over the next few days and remembered the what where and how. Thoroughly recommend and the guide Gary was so enthusiastic. We would have missed so much had we not gone on this tour.

    Great guided tour
Our guide Odea was amazing! Her knowledge was huge, her storytelling was exiting, including, and humoristic. Everything was perfect. The weather was super cold. 2 hours with 10-15 mins standing still and listening requires warm clothing.

On Monday I spent the afternoon on the Jewish walking tour with Judit and what a wonderful and enriching afternoon it was. I have a strong interest in the Jewish culture and I have been traveling a lot of eastern Europe to learn more about Jewish history and I must say, this tour was the most informative 2 hours I've had to learn about this topic. Judit was a wealth of knowledge and seemed well educated on this deep and somewhat sensitive topic. She did incredibly well to verbally portray the lives of the Jewish population from the past and really gave us a well rounded and descriptive narrative into what the Jewish people had to endure, especially during World War 2 and the tragic events of the holocaust. She had great and touching stories and she had answers to all the questions I and other people on the tour so I could really see she was very knowledgeable about Jewish culture and history. Her English was perfect and her story telling was so engaging. So happy I did this and I give her a two thumbs up 👍👍 to such a wonderful tour. She also had great tips of what to do, where to go and where to eat from a 'locals' perspective and not just recommending touristy places which I really appreciated 😊.

Anita was a fantastic, knowledgeable, interactive guide! Lots of Jewish history, a look at several synagogues as well as the contemporary entertainment complex. Good stories. We returned to the Dohany synagogue for an inside tour, and although we loved seeing the inside, the guide in the synagogue was not as informative as Anita.

Petra was an energetic and positive guide, very thoughtful in finding sheltered places for us (it was raining 😺&🐶). Her style is very engaging and she gave us a really strong overall understanding of the key events - evidenced by the fact that the great synagogue tour I attended later covered much of the same ground. Petra also added in some really interesting anecdotes, showed us some quirky places we could visit again later and gave recommendations for restaurants etc at the end in a handy printout we could photograph for reference. I was only in Budapest for a long weekend but I really got a feel for the city thanks to Petra and saw a lot that I would otherwise have missed or walked past and not noticed.

Orsolya (Orshe) was a friendly and informed tour guide who gave us great insight on the country’s Jewish community and history. She had a particularly loud voice which was useful both for hearing her over Easter traffic but especially as we were a large group following her throughout the narrow streets. Her knowledge on the synagogues and the Jewish people’s history really added to the vibrant neighbourhood. The route overlaps with that of the general walking and communism tours, but the information is largely separate and it served to familiarise ourselves better with the historic centre.

Dear 121darc, Great to hear you enjoyed your Jewish District tour in Budapest. We are going to pass along your review to Orsi. We do hope you've taken a moment to re-read our outline of tour routes and itineraries before you booked with us. It is extremely clear about what we see, do and talk about. I have copied one sentence from our website: "The Saint Stephen’s Basilica (you hear different stories than on the Original Tour)." Although it is OK to visit 1-2 places in a repetitive way on different tours to capture a broader picture of experience, our Jewish District Tour and Communism Tour have totally totally different routes. Non of the stops are overlapping. Kind regards, Triptobudapest.hu - Free Budapest Walking Tours Team

Ursula was our guide and she did a tremendous job. Having been a Jewish studies major and university and current employee at the Holocaust Memorial Center, she was extremely knowledgeable. She related the information in an interesting and engaging manner, and always stopped to ask for questions. We learned a lot, and are very glad we took the tour. We highly recommend it.

My friend and I did the Free Jewish District Tour of Budapest with the fabulous guide Edith. It was one of the most moving and fascinating walking tours we have ever done. The tour was extremely informative and comprehensive. But it was more than an intellectual learning experience. Edith spoke from the heart, including some of her personal links to the subject, making the tour deeply moving and personal. She brought us to places and told us stories that we would never have encountered on our own. Needless to say -- we highly recommend this tour!

Quite different than expected but super interesting, emotional and personal! Our guide Edith was very nice and did a great job! You will learn a lot about the former Jewish life in the district, about all the synagogues and what the Jewish district is today. Edith told a lot of touching stories and provided us with interesting fun facts. Bring some cash in case you want to contribute to the free walking tour in the end!

Edina welcomed you kindly, indicated what we were going to do, started with a short intro and then the tour started. She spoke clearly, was very knowledgeable and was able to convey the information well. Even though I had continued straight after my flight and the general tour was not available, I immediately had a good idea of the city, its history and where it was going. Afterwards she also took plenty of time to answer some questions. On Saturday I went out on my own, on Sunday I joined the general tour, again with Edina, where she concluded with some more tips on what to do and what not to do. Subsequently I did the Castle Tour on the Buda side, this was with Bazsla (or Goulash), definitely a good tour guide. You can't miss his voice.
