About
We drive up to an hour from Tallinn's city center. We end up in Estonian nature, where you probably won't meet any other tourists. Because the site I'll take you to is away from the typical travel agency routes and you can't get there by public transport. At the same time, you shouldn't worry because all the trails are in good condition and as scenic as they get. The hiking part takes up to 3 hours. Estonia is a pretty flat country, but in this area, you'll see some fast-changing landscapes, beautiful lakes, bogs, and forests, which will give you a good quick overview of what Estonian nature is like. After the hike, we drive back to Tallinn, where I can drop you off at any location you prefer. So in 5 hours, you can claim that you have been to Estonia and experienced what its nature has to offer in full.
This tour is open to the elements, so dress properly. There is no bad weather only wrong clothing. As the weather in Estonia is quite unpredictable, be prepared for anything.

- Vacation674686294040 contributionsIf you would like to explore more of Estonia, take a private tour with Juhan. It was bitterly cold and rainy on our tour to the east of Estonia. But it was all worth it. The weather somehow is reminiscent of the Cold War as we look across the river to the Russian border in Narvae. Juhan is easy going, knowledgeable and follows your pace. Well recommended. It was so enriching a trip that we did a Go West with Juhan.Written 20 November 2024
- jbg740 contributionsExcellent Day Trip From TallinnJuhan spoke good English and had a comfortable car. He is a very knowledgeable guide. We had a great time visiting Sillamae and Narva in addition to a few other stops. This was the best day trip we did in Estonia. I highly recommend it. The fortress and river walk at Narva are really cool and you get to see the Ivanograd fortress across the river too. Sillamae was a former secret Soviet city and has some cool 1950s Soviet architecture.Written 8 September 2024
- Pickleball650 contributionsOur trip to NarvaWe went with a private driver. He had a wealth of knowledge to share with us. We went to castle and could see castle on Russian side also. We Drove around and saw alot of history left behind . It was very eye opening . If you like history , then this is for you. It is not a touristy type of trip.Written 25 August 2024
- pedroc3840 contributionsExcellent way to know Estonia outside of TallinnThe tour guide is an amazing person, has a lot of knowledge to share and will adapt the tour to your needs and interests. Will highly recommend this tour! Estonia is a beautiful country, why would you want to visit beyond Tallinn?Written 28 July 2024
- AiraK80 contributionsA day trip to NarvaWe had a very nice and interesting private 1-day tour with Juhan in Narva, Narva-Jõesuu and Sillamäe. The communication before the trip was fast and easy, the tour was adjusted according our wishes.Written 9 July 2024
- lucysungminl0 contributionsBeautiful EstoniaTaking Juhan's tour was one of the best decisions I made for my first trip to Estonia. You get to see so much outside of Tallinn. We highly recommend this tour! You will see everything in the Itinerary. Haapsalu was the highlight of the day! We took both west and east tours from Juhan, and they are extremely worth it.Written 2 June 2024
- lucysungminl0 contributionsTrip to the east side of EstoniaI highly recommend this tour if you want to experience Estonia outside of Tallinn. You get to see a lot in the east side of the country, and you will visit everything which is shown in the itinerary. We loved all the cities we visited, Rakvere, Sillamae, and Narva. Our favorite was definitely the city of 'Narva', located very close to the border between Estonia and Russia. Juhan is very chill and he will answer to every questions you have about Estonian culture, history and people. If you are still hesitating whether you should take this tour or not, go for it! It is very very worth it. :)Written 2 June 2024
- SpokanETriPs20210 contributionsFantastic, Wonderful Tour with Native Estonian Guide.Fantastic tour. Juhan was a wonderful guide. Juhan is a native Estonian who grew up in the country he loves. We traveled west to the Baltic Sea, visiting several small towns and stopping at a couple of different vantage points to take pictures. He knows Estonian history and great places to visit. He even helped me find my mother's home in Tallinn, where she lived with her parents before WWII began. Wonderful tour!Written 1 June 2024
- Shell_Belle_Shell0 contributionsYou MUST do this tour!!!Juhan is an amazing tour guide and this tour was the highlight of our time in Estonia. We really enjoyed our special tour of the Kreenholm textile factory and seeing how close it is to Russia. Juhan is a safe driver and we felt completely comfortable the entire time. He even played us Estonian Eurovision tunes when we told him we loved Eurovision. This tour and Juhan come HIGHLY recommended. We can’t thank him enough!Written 21 April 2024
- E6242IQpaulp0 contributionsExcellent day-trip to Haapsalu with JuhanAn easy day-trip from Tallinn is an all-day drive from Tallinn west to Haapsalu. And a great way to do it is with Juhan as your guide. He is an excellent host with in-depth knowledge about almost everything Estonian - history, culture, nature, etc. The tour is the “Go West – Private 1 Day Trip to West Coast”. Highlights include a visit to Haapsalu town, Haapsalu Castle, the Haapsalu Promenade (a pretty stretch of waterfront), and stops (either on the way to Haapsalu or on the way back to Tallinn) at Noarootsi Peninsula and Nõva Nature Reserve, the 1731 Nova wooden church, 14th century Padise Abbey, Paldiski and Pakri Peninsula and lighthouse, Spithami Lighthouse, and Keila Waterfall. Haapsalu is full of lovely old and photogenic wooden houses and shops. Along the drive you'll see quite a few old Soviet military installations. On the particular day we were in Haapsalu, the town was hosting its annual “American Beauty Car Show”. Hundreds of classic American cars on display and driving all around town. A great bonus to a wonderful five-star day, led by Juhan.Written 28 July 2023
- sasazaza20 contributionsUnforgettable Trip in the East of EstoniaThis is truly one of the most memorable trip I’ve had in Estonia if not in the Baltic states. From the magnificent nature of Estonia to the monumental historic sites of Sillamae and Narva which depicted some of the most important histories of Estonia, my friendly, passionate and knowledgable guide Juhan has shown me the essence, pride and tragic past of Estonia. At the end of the tour, Juhan even kindly brought me to the ‘Home Garden’ memorial site which commemorates the victims deported to the gulags during Soviet occupation. Having learnt about the depressing stories from Juhan, I can’t help but feel heavy in my chest and yet at the same time feel hopeful there is always light after a long road of seemingly endless darkness. I feel grateful that I had Juhan as my guide of this wonderful and memorable trip. I would recommend this tour to anyone travelling in Estonia, this will open your eyes.Written 9 April 2023
- JiGgyGoo0 contributionsHistourical Trip!My wife and I cannot even begin to tell you what an amazing tour we had with Juhan. The area is absolutely gorgeous and Juhan did a great job introducing the area to us. As students of history, one of the things we enjoyed most about our tour was all of the commentary and historical context he provided while we were driving around. We learned history on our tour, thus a "histourical" trip with "Professor Juhan." Though unlike those boring professors you had in university, Juhan is very personable, thoughtful and funny. A very entertaining and insightful tour - we highly recommend it!Written 8 October 2022
- angfern0 contributionsAmazing, fun, and relaxing tour. Must do!Juhan’s tour is an absolute must do! Tallinn is a lovely place but I wanted to escape to nature and see a bit more of Estonia. Juhan planned the perfect outing for me and made it totally effort free by picking me up and dropping me off at my hotel. He educated me about Estonian history, people, nature, language, etc. He is a delight and I loved my time hiking and seeing waterfalls. You will not regret this tour! Thank you, Juhan!Written 16 September 2021
- dwz30000 contributionsA Nature TreatI spent my week in Tallinn and this tour into the nature was a wonderful change. According to the saying "You see only what you know." Juhan helped me very well to see and to explore the diversity of Estonian nature and also gave context to Estonian history and culture. Loved it.Written 12 September 2021

We were picked up by Juhan directly from our accommodation - that was a great service! In advance, our booking request was also promptly confirmed.
Juhan explained the changeable history of Estonia and made us smile again and again with his dry humor. He led us through a diverse landscape and we enjoyed the hike, which he also adapted to the weather. He responded to our individual wishes - but once again a warm thank you!
During the trip we heard Estonian music, which was a nice accompaniment.
We really don't want to miss this trip, not even the souvenir video. DANKE Juhan! We can highly recommend this trip!

Can't recommend this trip enough was one of the best aspects of our holiday.
We considered looking at other ways to get out of city and see more of Nature in Estonia but very glad we went with this tour. Was good value for money, took all the stress and hassle out of looking for the best places to walk and see, It was incredibly picturesque (trees/lakes/waterfalls.) There was easy pick up and drop off and the timings worked really well for us, didn't feel rushed, not too short or long and back at a reasonable time allowing us to fit in our evening plans. It was also of great added value hearing about the history/flora and fauna/Estonian culture as we went along!

I'm really pleased I chose Juhan's half-day hiking tour while I'm in Tallinn. He picked me up from my hotel and went ahead even though I was his only guest - lucky me, it really was a personal/private tour. During our drive to the park, Juhan shared his extensive knowledge of Estonia's complex history and calmly answered all my questions. It's a fabulous bonus that he was videoing and taking photos during our time and I'll be receiving a video memento of my experience in a couple of days - I've never had this offered before. I hope the Estonian tourism industry picks up - Juhan deserves to be busy all year round; highly recommended.

Juhan is a great tour guide! The views are incredible & secluded. Highly recommend to anyone interested in seeing the North Eastern forest / estonian nature away from the more touristic areas.

I had a great experience with the Private tours, hosted by Juhan, very polite, accommodating person.
The group is small and I loved to hear the Estonia’s history from Juhan’s words.
Hiking in a park like a local, at a easy pace having time to take great photos and appreciated the beauty views of the lakes, trees, feeling the fresh air !
It was awesome !
… going to the top of the lighthouse, it was something that I’ve never done before, and it was incredible!
I truly loved these tours, it was good to see more than the old town :)
Thank you Juhan !

Juhan was the best guide anyone could imagine. Knowledgeable and kind. Eventhough I was the only one on this tour he made me feel save and welcome and answered every question I had. The tour takes you to a remote part of Estonian nature which you can enjoy without meeting any other tourists. Juhan will tell you interesting facts about Estonian history and even talk with you about the Eurovision Songcontest, if that is your thing.

Excellent experience! It was s great chance to get out from the city of Tallinn and enjoy the Estonian Nature.
The forest was beautiful and silent. The lanscapes were changing so fast and there was a beautiful lake as well. Just a great day to relax and enjoy the beauty of the nature.
The guide talked about the history of Estonia and also gave detailed explanation about the nature. He was also attentive to our needs during the hiking which was great. We would highly recommend this tour.

enjoyed every minute of this easy hike through a winter wonderland! this particular ~8.8km hike Juhan offered us was just perfect with the weather cooperating. Things were snow covered but not so much to make the walking hard. I took a lot of photos and enjoyed every moment. We did it in about 3 hours. Then the stop at the waterfall was nice to see. I'm so glad I booked this excursion it was a highlight of my stay in Tallinn!

This was a great tour to escape Tallinn a bit and see more of the Estonian countryside! Beautiful tour with a lot of different landscapes. The guide gives a lot of nice explanations about Estonian history, culture and nature. Also he gives plenty of opportunity to make the hike a bit shorter or longer to whatever your liking is! 100% would recommend!
