Enter the National Gallery of Art and follow your guide through one of America’s best collections of artwork produced by Renaissance artists, French Impressionists, and great American painters. See works from Claude Monet, Raphael, Gilbert Stuart, and Edgar Degas, as well as more modern artists like Picasso, Pollock, Warhol, and O’Keefe, as you learn what’s really behind the creation of some of these pieces. Your guide will lead the way through the halls of the museum, telling stories, and stopping at famous works of art. Some pieces you’ll see on this tour include “Ginevra de’Benci” by Leonardo da Vinci, “Self Portrait” by Vincent Van Gogh, and “Woman with a Parasol” by Claude Monet. Listen as your guide fills you in on the techniques behind some of the paintings, as well as some of the history and scandals that happened because of them. You’ll also learn about the museum’s building which took just 100 years to transition from a nearly hollow building to the home of the US’s best art collections.

      Perfect and compact tour
Outstanding tour! Lisa was an excellent guide that went into great detail ithrouout the entire tour. The only thing that would have made the tour better would have been both the House and Senete in full session.

Awesome tour with Annmarie, she was so knowledgeable and made the story of the documents come to life, would have loved to spend all day with her Learning more. We were first into the rotunda also which gave us the chance to get some great pictures as well.

      Informative, fascinating tour!
Tour review I am so grateful that I got to see the National Archives for the first time with Annemarie! She was friendly and knowledgeable, and gave us just the right amount of context and explanation for the things we were seeing. Plus, she peppered it with some interesting facts you wouldn’t always get from a history book. Most interesting to me was what she told us about the murals in the Rotunda. Without her there, I wouldn’t know how to interpret what I was seeing, and I would just look at it as two stately paintings. I wouldn’t have learned about the choices the artist made and combined it with the real history. The tour felt like it went by quickly! Annemarie is really knowledgeable, friendly, and has a nice speaking voice and demeanor…you never feel like you’re being lectured, instead you feel like you’re learning interesting things from a like-minded friend. 10/10 recommend!! Also appreciated skipping the line, maximizing our time there!

Wonderful tour! Our guide, Richard, was absolutely amazing! He was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We really enjoyed all of his stories and information about the different art pieces and museum. I have been to The National Gallery of Art before- but Richard really brought the artwork alive, and took us to places in the museum that we would have missed if we had not been on his tour. We had a small group size of only 4 people, and we really got to see a lot! If was our favorite DC tour that we have taken, thus far! I would definitely recommend this tour- and be sure to ask for Richard!

My wife and I booked this tour and ended up being only participants. That was lucky for us as it gave us more direct communication with our guide Annemarie. We definitely felt it was worth it to do this tour as Annemarie made sure we hit all the highlights. She was able to speak in detail about each piece from Dutch Masters to more modern art. Very informative and the time flew by. Would highly recommend this tour.

We had a great tour of the National Gallery of Art with Donna. As a person who hasn’t had much art education, I greatly appreciated how Donna gave the back story of each artist and linked it to their work. Donna was a great tour guide and I recommend her with great enthusiasm.

Such an interesting tour with lots of details about the artists and the paintings. Anne Marie was able to bring the gallery alive and in 2.5hrs we saw the main highlights of the museum. Ideal tour if time is short! She allowed us plenty of time to look at the paintings and answered all our questions. Highly recommended.

This was a fantastic sampler of so many treasures in the National Gallery. Our guide was wonderful- giving context and background stories on so many pieces. We covered an amazing span of artist, time periods, and styles. I saw portions of the gallery that I didn’t even know existed!

Annemarie greeted us with a smile, she was interested in what brought us to the museum and immediately started a great tour . Annemarie was professional, knows about the museum, its history and of course shared with us her knowledge of the paintings we saw. Annemarie included insights that relate to us now as well as historical facts that gave depth to the art. Often Annemarie enhanced our tour with additional pictures from her iPad, she was very polite and appropriate with other groups and led us smoothly through crowded areas. We left the tour enriched and eager to return.

My husband and I scheduled a group tour but ended up being the only two people on the tour. Our guide, Leigh, was outstanding. She asked us our interests and then recommended a personalized tour. She shared a wealth of knowledge with us. We learned so much and gained an even deeper appreciation for the art work we saw. We highly recommend Babylon Tours and Leigh! Thank you Leigh!!

Donna was extremely knowledgeable and personable. I have taken several tours with Babylon which have all been good but Donna so far is my favorite guide due to her in depth expertise and ability to convey a large amount of information in an organized, relaxed manner. Will always ask for her in the future if possible when in Washington DC. Very impressed with the overall quality of Babylon tours also.

Our Tour Guide Donna was wonderful. She was extremely knowledgeable and funny. We saw and learned so much more than had we tried to navigate it ourselves. I would highly recommend doing this tour with her. We will be back to visit DC and hopefully have Donna as our guide again.

    Thank you!

This was a bucket list trip for my husband and I . It is a magnificent museum! Our guide Bess was a superb tour guide. She lead us through the huge museum with expertise. The knowledge that she shared was so good . Our outlooks were broadened by her information on each piece.
We will never do a museum with a guide like Bess. 🙏🏻
Highly recommend Bess and this tour! 👏🏻
