Enter the National Gallery of Art and follow your guide through one of America’s best collections of artwork produced by Renaissance artists, French Impressionists, and great American painters. See works from Claude Monet, Raphael, Gilbert Stuart, and Edgar Degas, as well as more modern artists like Picasso, Pollock, Warhol, and O’Keefe, as you learn what’s really behind the creation of some of these pieces. Your private guide will lead the way through the halls of the museum, telling stories, and stopping at famous works of art. Some pieces you’ll see on this tour include “Ginevra de’Benci” by Leonardo da Vinci, “Self Portrait” by Vincent Van Gogh, and “Woman with a Parasol” by Claude Monet. Listen as your guide fills you in on the techniques behind some of the paintings, as well as some of the history and scandals that happened because of them. You’ll also learn about the museum’s building which took just 100 years to transition from a nearly hollow building to the home of the US’s best art collections.

Tour of the National Archives museum
Ahhhmazing experience, Annemarie was so very knowledgeable and really enjoyed teaching and sharing information about some of the most important documents in American History. This tour was fascinating, I was completely captivated by her knowledge and understanding of American History and art. I would keep her for the next four days of our trip if I could just to absorb a fraction of what she knows.

We loved our tour of the National Gallery of Art with Annemarie. We learned so many interesting facts about the paintings, artists, and history that we couldn’t have learned had we tried to navigate the museum on our own. It was totally worth the cost of having Annmarie guide us to the highlights of the museum. We would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to enhance their gallery experience.

Our afternoon with Richard far exceeded any expectations we had. It’s easy to be overwhelmed at a museum the size of the National Gallery, but Richard’s capacity for storytelling through the pieces at every step of the way left us with a deeper appreciation for the art and how it got there.

I would highly recommend Babylon Tours and would encourage anyone looking to visit the National Gallery to do so with Richard!

Annemarie was wonderful! My sister and I were visiting DC and wanted to make the most of our short time at the National Gallery of Art. Annemarie was so professional, knowledgeable and friendly! She had an ease about her that made us feel so comfortable. She communicated ahead of time to make it easy to find her, and led us seamlessly through the museum highlighting important items in the collection and weaving together the history and development of art through the ages. She was outstanding!

Donna was awesome, very known. She is very passionate about art . We completed about 20 galleries in 2 1/2 - 3 hours . Perfect duration . She gave us wonderful historical facts about the paintings from Leonardo Da Vinci to Monet !!! Strongly recommend this tour as this Gallery is so big unless you have all day , best to have a guide to cover the most important paintings !!! Dr Randeep Suneja.

Richard provided an excellent tour of the Art Gallery. He hit all of the highlights, explaining how the artists related to each other in time and how styles changed over time.

Richard also discussed the architecture of the building, the major families donating art to the museum, and how the museum is connected to the Smithsonian.

As we are local to the area, he also provided in depth recommendations for our next visits to the Smithsonian and nearby museums.

Overall, excellent and spot on for what we requested.

Donna gave us an EXCELLENT tour. Her insights of the artists lives were so engaging and she personalized the tour to our interests. She walked us through 600 years of art in 2 hours yet still captivated us with fascinating details.

Our tour guide (Donna) did an excellent job with showing us the many classics and pointing out how the artist uses color and objects to draw your eye into the picture (fascinating) and clear characteristics that famous painters used in their art (faces illuminated, brush strokes).
Also fascinating, was the ‘background’ story behind each of the pieces; which really enhanced our tour.
    Highly recommend this tour.

Extraordinary art museum in view of the masterpieces on display.
The contemporary architecture of the extension (signed Peï) is superb and the place less frequented. A special mention for the tunnel uniting the 2 buildings with rolling pavement, parade of lights and especially a waterfall animated the cafeteria in the basement.
