    Stop: 2 hours
Your guide will take you to visit the highlights of the collection, housed in a massive building that covers the area of 18 football fields. Gaze into the world-famous Hope Diamond, whose brilliant blue sparkle, and immodest size at 46 karats, captured the attention of former owner Marie Antoinette. Wander through the displays of gems and minerals, including the Dom Pedro Aquamarine, the world’s largest gem of its type, which glows brilliantly from within. Travel back in time to learn about death rituals while exploring real mummies from Ancient Egypt. Then step out of the past into the wild, exploring the mighty polar bears, elephants, and giraffes that roam across earth’s surface. From the land, jump into the sea at the Ocean Hall, where you’ll discover a live coral reef exhibit as well as a 45-ton whale, Phoenix, which is a replica of a real living what that the museum tracks. By the end, you’ll understand why so many people come to visit the 126.5 million artefacts housed at the National Museum of Natural History.

Brenda gave my two kids and I a phenomenal private tour of the Natural History Museum. She kept my kids entertained the entire time, knew which exhibits to show us to spark their curiosity and answered many, many questions.

Fantastic tour for a labor day weekend crowd
Sep 2021
My wife and I recently moved to DC and want to experience all it has to offer. We decided to book a tour for our first big museum trip of the many Smithsonian exhibits at the museum of natural history. We were greeted by Leigh, a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide who definitely knew the tricks and tips to make our experience awesome. She was able to successfully deflect an onslaught of circular questions from an overly loquacious 7 year old from a young couple and keep a seemingly bored/un-interested 2nd couple engaged while also not alienating my wife and I. The 7 of use were graciously escort on a tour the time with fun facts and a great depth and scope of information. Though it was a bit crowed we left feeling full-filled. Great experience and would recommend whole-heartedly.

Fantastic tour with Donna! Our 9 year olds said they would give her 100 stars if possible. Very engaging with kids and adults. Thoughtful tour of the main exhibits within the museum with right amount of detail. Would highly recommend.

Brenda was a great tour guide! She kept everyone engaged, made sure we had great front and center views of everything, and had more energy than most of us! I would recommend this tour and tour guide. The museum was amazing and huge! Brenda did such a great job of walking us through it, without feeling rushed.

The only way to see the museum.

We just finished a tour with Brenda, who was an absolutely incredible tour guide. She was so knowledgeable and patient with both my husband and myself, as well as our two children. The kids were fully engaged for the entire duration of the tour. It was a wonderful way to see the museum and get the most out of our time there. Best tour we’ve had.
