tour in Guatemala . Group from Italy
Guatemala Adventure organized the tour of Guatemala for our group of 4 couples of friends living in Italy. We were very satisfied with the organization of the tour: the hotels where we stayed were excellent, the excursions were well organized and our guide Rodolfo was very competent and friendly. Ciao Rodolfo!!! An appreciation also for the drivers who drove the minibuses carefully on the roads of Guatemala.

Day trip to lake Atitlan and more.
Nice fun experience, a big thank you to Byron & Jorge our driver for showing us Guatemala and bringing us back safely. Very nice guides. Enjoyed learning about chocolate, coffee, medicinal plants, and how they texture/weave garments in Panajachel. Long day but worth it, good views.

What an amazing experience!!!! I went with one other friend and we had a fun and comfortable experience. Carmen was our guide and she was AMAZING!!!! She is very knowledgeable, easy to talk to, kind, and hilarious! Cant recommend this enough. We had this tour in the middle of a two week trip so it was a great intermission between some intense activities planned. Wonderful way to see some areas between antigua / flores.

          Fun day trip
The lake was definitely worth seeing and our guide Mirko did a terrific job of shepherding our small motley band of tourists through the colorful maze of San Juan, boats, Panajachel, etc. His commentaries on the town and the culture was interesting as well. His recommendation for lunch at Don Rodrigo in Panajachel was helpful too that was very pleasant.

          Beautiful hiking trip!
This was a great hike with incredible views in a beautiful part of the country. The journey from Guatemala city to the volcano was smooth and comfortable. I would say the hike is accessible even for novice hikers, but still gives you a good workout if you are pushing the pace. Peter was a great guide, and very knowledgeable about the area. We got to climb over a (cooled) lava field, some parts of which ("chimneys") were still steaming - you can stick your hand in them and feel the heat and humidity from the vegetation that got trapped underneath the lava. There were wildflowers in lots of different colors, and we saw some very interesting insects and spiders, including "hummingbird moths" (large moths that look and behave like hummingbirds, hovering from flower to flower - note that the moth in the picture is a different one).

Visit now before it’s lost to developers!
Mirko was our driver and guide for three days. Mirko was a very good driver on dangerous roads. He also has a relaxed personality that made for enjoyable conversations in English. Just so you know, it is a 6 hr drive from Antigua to the ParkHotel. Most of your time will be spent getting to your destinations. Once you leave the hustle and bustle of Guatemala City, you are in for a visual treat as the central highlands are stunning and diverse. Lanquin Cave is a national park, but it is poorly maintained and quite dangerous because you are walking on very slippery wet rocks or wooden stairs. Enjoy it but be very careful because a bad slip will quickly end your vacation. On day two you have the option to visit another wet, slippery cave or visit an orchid private reserve. I highly recommend the orchid private reserve. It’s run by three generations of a single-family who saw the clearcutting deforestation around them and decided to protect these little fragile flowers that grow on the trunks. Guatemala’s central mountains boast 800 species of orchid, but they are threatened by the same destruction that is putting Semuc Champy at risk. The jungle and karst pools of Semuc are incredibly beautiful and worth the journey. Sadly, developers are clearing the jungle to make way for a new paved road to this small and fragile site. Once the road is complete expect uncontrolled development that will absolutely destroy the environment. Monkeys, Quetzals, toucans and wild mammals are already gone. The government of Guatemala clearly does not value their environmental resources, so enjoy them while you can. Do stop for traditional candies made from cardamom.

Iximche was the highlight of this trip
Very good tour just not sure if Chichicastenango is worth the 3 hour drive. Iximche was fantastic however. Our guide was very good and knowledgable

Gate 1 : not the best. Rip off for solo travels. Accused me of lying. Unbelievable
went with Gate 1. They accused me of lying about when my flight landed and why no one was there to pick me up. They told me my flights "would have been better" had I booked with Gate 1. I booked my flights with Gate 1. This trip was canceled by Gate 1 in November when I purchased with a special single supplement waiver; I rescheduled and they did not honor my waiver, so the trip cost me significantly more. NEVER AGAIN GATE 1.

          Poor logistics!!!
Tour guide Luis and driver were excellent. The logistics suck! My ride to airport (ended up being scheduled for 4 AM) arrived 30 minutes later. Then we spent well over 2 hours waiting for flight to take off. Tour guide was unaware that our returning flight wasn't leaving until 9 PM. They dumped us off in Flores for 3 hours in the 104 degree weather (!!!) with 38% humidity around 4 PM to walk around. I did not want to sit around in a bar for 3 hours and I was done with souvenier shopping within 30 minutes. Get your act together. The advertisement made it sound like it would be around a 12 hour experience total. It ended up being a 19 hour experience. Do not use them until they get their logistical act together.

Magical day of Guatemalan culture on the Lake
We loved our trip to Lake Atitlán our driver was very knowledgeable, helpful and patient with us while we shopped and stayed longer and still got all our tour highlights done. We are a busy family of five and we loved speeding across the Lake and visiting all the merchants. Quality tour all around.

          Mirko was an excellent guide
Enjoyed our tour with Mirko who spoke very good English. He gave us many facts about the history, culture and politics of Guatemala. The tour duration was good, with half day spent in Antigua and the other half part at the Iximche archeological ruins.

Guatemalan cooking class in Antigua Guatemala
Today we went to a cooking class. We booked this through a la Carta tours in Antigua Guatemala. The company is Foodietenango, guatemala. This is an excellent class. They taught us how to make guacamole, roasted Salsa, Chicken pepian and a dessert made with mashed plantains and stuffed with chocolate, beans and deep fried. All the recipes were from his mom and grandma. They cooked for us at his home. This was by far the best cooking class we've done. They picked us up at the hotel and we took a tuk tuk back.

We were picked up from our hotel in Guatemala City. Our tour guide was Mr. Mirco , he was very knowledgeable and fun . We started our tour by driving to Antigua and Mr. Mirco started by explaining us the history of Antigua Guatemala , our first stop was el cerro de la cruz , where we had an amazing view of the city , we got amazing pictures and then headed to the coffee plantation where he explained us the process of the making of coffee , we got a taste of the great coffee as well , after that we stop at different spots that were part of our tour and Mr. Mirco made it very interesting and enjoyable . We ended our tour by having lunch at a traditional Guatemala restaurant . Overall it was a tour that exceded our expectations and it’s highly recommended . Special thanks to Mr. Mirco that made our tour very special .

We endured a rather disappointing Central America vacation recently, except for the final day when we were fortunate enough to have booked Josue through Guatemalan Adventure for a full day tour from Guatemala City.

Josue’s professionalism, humor, sensitivity, flexibility, and commitment to meeting us at our need and interest made the eight hours with him the highlight of our 12 day trip around Central America. Our needs were many, beginning with our plane’s late arrival. We feared that the tour would be cut short, which would have been understandable, but instead, Josue went far beyond the call to show us everything we wanted to see and then some! He was not only a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic Antiguan native, but also knew the best spots to take pictures, the best places to eat, the best places to shop, etc. when we were thirsty, he bought us bottles of water, when I had bought too many souvenirs, he offered to carry some. When we expressed a peculiar interest in something, he went out of his way to help us explore that interest.

The Van was spotless and comfortable, Josue’s Driving was faultless, Antigua was lovely and fascinating.

Our strong impression is that you can’t go wrong if you get Josue as your guide. The only practical criticism we could offer is that, in his great appreciation of The history of his hometown, he can be a bit too detailed when sharing the history with tourists. 😆
We so highly recommend Guatemalan adventures, at least in the case of this tour guide!
        * The company was also excellent in communicating with us before our arrival and The value was excellent.

Antigua Guatemala is one of the most fantastic places to visit due to its wonderful landscapes. For me visiting Antigua Guatemala has been one of the most beautiful experiences I ever had because I love nature that surrounds this place, there are mountains, beautiful groves, horses walking in the streets, a lot of Guatemalan culture in ruins and avenues. And it is not a huge place so you can visit many tourist places on the same day. There are many hotels with excellent service and depending on the time you are staying, you must make your reservations in time because it is a very touristy place so the hotels almost always fill up fast. If you are a person who loves nature and history as I do, you can visit Antigua Guatemala and you will be amazed by its beauty.
