Location is excellent for new surfers and 70+ who are trying to get back into surfing (like me). Sean was the perfect instructor. His calm understated suggestions were very helpful.

Sasha was awesome! Our kids (16,22) were surfing in no time! The photographer was also amazing and got some great pictures!

This was a great experience. I really enjoyed the time I spent with the Hawaiian master San. He was patient, professional and good company. I spent two days with San, and I was sorry I couldn’t make a third. Thanks San and thanks to Debbie, Eddie, Isaiah and the whole Waves Hawaii team I will return! Bill

Waves is a fantastic surf school staffed by incredibly kind and patient people. Our kids ended up having at least 6 lessons in the span of three weeks, and our interactions with everyone (including Val) were just superb. I can't recommend them enough. South Maui needs support and Waves is a great small company.

Great surf school if you prefer to be active a lot after a very short introduction. Perfect spot to learn and small groups (we were 4).

Waves Hawaii was an awesome experience for my twins. We had a mix of coaches over the 3 days; Sasha, Son, Lucas, and Angelo.Their coaches were great and had tons of patience and shared a lot of joy with my 6 year olds. I would highly recommend this school for anyone with young children. Coaches were always close to my boys and the beach was very shallow so even my littles could touch the bottom.

Instructors made us feel so comfortable in the ocean. Definitely will be doing this again. Caught waves and had the best time!

San and Carlos put a lot of effort into what they do and gave equal time to each of our family members, as well as the others in our group. In addition, they work seamlessly with the videographer who captured a few dozen quality shots that will be cherished by our family forever. They also get bonus points for getting my wife up and surfing which I thought was a long-shot. Well done, Waves Hawaii!

Dad, 13yo, and 11yo all had a blast!! Everyone got up and rode waves and were all smiles afterward. Lucas, their instructor was awesome! It was totally worth the drive from Kaanapali, and we enjoyed a great lunch at a very beautiful foodtruck park/nursery across the street afterward. Highly recommend!!!

This was far and away one of the best children’s surf experiences I’ve ever bared witness too. I’m the father of a five-year-old and three-year-old, both boys and both great swimmers, even in the ocean. I’m an experienced surfer who’s had the good fortune to travel the globe surfing and work in tourism with experience at many different surf schools and types of instructors. Our two instructors were not only patient and empathetic, they were able to connect with my boys on a different level. The beach in Kihei is as safe as safe gets for beginner waves. But the better part of all this was the in direct infusion of Hawaiian culture into the lesson with my boys; talking to the boys about what good waves look like, how to find sets, and how to feel the ocean in Maui specifically. I cannot recommend this surf school enough, especially for kids. And, as a snowboard instructor myself, I can tell prospective parents of waves this; if you enter this experience with anxiety, it will crush you. Trust the instructors. Trust the experience. Trust your kids. Waves Hawaii is far and away worth it. Thanks guys!

Unbelievable experience! San and Eddy are two of the BEST teachers around. We took my daughter who is 6 and my mom who is 70!!!! San took the best care of my daughter! What was even better they had a photographer Eli in the water taking some of the best pictures so we could sit back and enjoy!!

Eddie is the best instructor I have ever had. We were all up and surfing and having a blast. Definitely the best surfing experience in Maui.

Great operation and instructor was fantastic. I got up on my board and was able to fully surf for the first time ever during my beginner lesson. Would recommend Waves Hawaii Surf School to anyone.

I signed up my 3 daughters ages 13, 12 and 9 for private lessons. It was well worth the extra money. Each girl got special instruction and rode many waves. My youngest was given a wet suit to wear that increased her enjoyment since she wasn't cold. They all had an amazing time and want to go again. The staff was friendly and professional.

Eddy is an excellent instructor! He went above and beyond teaching us with simple but right to the point tips! We were in Maui for family vacation and had a great time. We will be back!!!
