- 935myrat0 contributionsGreat riding experience for everyone - even first-time riders and kids.My first time on a horse and I had an awesome time! I actually booked this activity for mine and my husband's wedding anniversary. My husband has had horseback riding experience and he was excited to see me ride a horse for the first time! We checked in with Heather at Gunstock Ranch. She was cute as a button and had great energy and a personality to match! Our guide was Lucas and he was awesome too! There were only three of us on the ride in addition to our guide so it felt like a private ride. Lucas took us up and around the ranch property which took us up pretty high into the hills. The view was spectacular from up there! The horses were great! You can tell that they are well taken care of! My horse was named Boone and my husband rode Ginley. At one point, Ginley got spooked on our ride but the hubsters took it all in stride. I think I was more scared than he was. My horse didn't seem to want to follow in a single file. But he was easy to ride and very cooperative and just a good boy in general. Lucas was friendly and shared great information with us. I learned a lot about horses on my ride. There is a free petting zoo with goats, a cow and a bull and a few loose chickens. I even found an egg while playing and petting this cute goat. The Silkie white hen was super cute and friendly. I'd never seen one in person. She even let me pick her up. The rooster ... not so much. You can also buy feed for a $1 for the animals. The weather was gorgeous onthe day that we rode. It was a warm day with a nice cool breeze. The ranch is really nice and clean and It's obvious the owners take good care of the animals, the property and the guides. My husband and I would definitely recommend this activity! I'll try to update my review with pictures later!Written 14 March 2025
- susanmV7448NJ0 contributionsOahu at sunset on horseback is a must! The views were incredible, horses easy going and great for beginners. Our guide was personable and engaging without being overbearing. It was a beautiful and peaceful way to experience the island’s beauty at the end of the day. We even indulged in some ranch merch because it was super cute and will serve to remind us to slow down a little even when we get back to the hustle of “real life”. Don’t hesitate to hit the “book” button!Written 8 March 2025
- TrailBlazer3846470 contributionsHorse ride experienceThe staff here was so amazing with explaining and demonstrating how to get on the horse and explain the different ways to have your horse to stop and to start walking! This horse ride itself was so amazing! The horses are well trained and they know the path to take to keep with everyone! The tutor guy was the best!Written 8 March 2025
- Vacation108538691270 contributionsLOVED EVERY MINUTEMahalo Gunstock for a wonderful experience. The Scenic Trail Ride was amazing. We rode the trails to the point where it overlooks the ocean. Total Paradise! Thank you Lucas for being our guide. You are very knowledgeable and trustworthy. We enjoyed every moment of the trail ride. We will definitely be back next time we visit Oahu!Written 7 March 2025
- HebeM0 contributionsFantastic advanced ride in HawaiiWe had an amazing ride at Gunstock Ranch. My partner and I booked an advanced private trail ride and it exceeded all expectations. The horses were fit and forward going and the scenery we rode through was incredibly beautiful. I was very impressed by all the staff and how the wranglers explained how they expected their horses to be treated. Our guide Summer was absolutely fantastic. A guide like her totally takes a normal trail ride to the next level, she was engaging, bright and knowledgeable, and it was clear she enjoyed her work. We felt she made sure we had a memorable experience. I would recommend this ranch to anyone visiting OahuWritten 1 March 2025
- yuqiw20250 contributionsHorse back tourThe scenery was very nice and the horses buckles and ikaika were chill as well. Everyone working there was helpful, our tour guide Jared knew a lot about the ranch. Although it would’ve been great to get more knowledge about the ranch, if you just want to soak in the nature and bonding either horses it’s definitely a fun experience.Written 27 February 2025
- jwclin0 contributionsWonderful horseback riding experienceIt was such a fun experience and we had the opportunity to take photos and get a tour of the ranch property on horseback. The petting zoo on the property was a fun add. The ride was easy and smooth. The horses are very well trained and well-mannered. Such a fun and memorable activity! Lucas, our wrangler, was a wonderful tour guide.Written 24 February 2025
- judogayle0 contributionsGreat Experience.First time on a horse for 50 years and a great experience! Everyone was so nice and very helpful. My horse, Nellie, was the best horse companion. The horses are well trained and know exactly what to do. Highly recommend Gunstock Ranch.Written 21 February 2025
- I9773MCdanielal0 contributionsAmazing Advanced Ride – A Must-Do!Absolutely incredible experience at Gunstock Ranch! The advanced ride was an absolute blast—definitely a highlight of my entire trip to Hawaii. The scenery was breathtaking, the horses were fantastic, and the ride itself was so much fun. Huge shoutout to my wrangler, Heather—she was an amazing and talented guide who made the experience even better. Could not recommend this place enough! I’ll definitely be back!Written 15 February 2025
- Sulmaan0 contributionsSplendid in every wayAn absolutely glorious way of spending a morning. Cooper was the perfect guide. He was super-conscientious about ensuring that I was comfortable with my horse and the ride (I was). He was knowledgeable about horses, Hawaii, the ranch, and the trails. And he was genuinely delightful company; it was a joy to ride and chat with him. Raider was a wonderful horse for the purpose: calm, strong, well-trained. (Waffles, Cooper's horse, was lovely too. You can tell that the horses here are well cared for). The trails were indescribably beautiful, alive with golden plovers and monarch butterflies. There were calm walks through trees, exhilarating gallops uphill, and stunning views of the North Shore when we made the summit. If you like trail riding, this is a must-do. Even if you don't, the ranch is well worth seeing. My heartfelt thanks to Cooper, Raider, and Waffles for one of the best mornings I've had in Hawaii.Written 15 February 2025

I would definitely recommend Gunstock Ranch to others.Written 3 February 2025

I joined Mateo on an advanced ride through the breathtaking mountainous trails on his majestic horse, Mango. Mateo expertly assessed my riding skills and tailored the ride to my abilities, ensuring a fun and safe adventure. We enjoyed a thrilling ride, trotting and cantering through the stunning landscapes, with Mateo's attentive guidance every step of the way. This was our first time doing an activity at Gunstock Ranch, and we had chosen to do the 1-hour ATV tour. Our guide was Issa (not sure of the spelling so please forgive me if I misspelled it), and she was a very pleasant and knowledgeable guide, perfect for the task. She quickly established a comfortable atmosphere by checking with us (myself, my wife and my daughter) our comfort levels for speed. As we got on our way, we were treated to some very beautiful scenery and landscape on the property. Some of the notable sights included a cabin that was built as a part of a Hawaii Five-O episode, a cave that was once underwater and feeding some cows along the way.
The cabin was really neat and it looked like it belonged on the ranch as it fit in well with the landscape. Apparently, once the production of the episode was complete, it was decided to leave it in place. Again, it really fit in and was a neat point of interest along the way. The cave entrance is very unassuming, and one could easily bypass it if you didn't know it was there. We stopped and were able to get out to take a look. There were some rudimentary steps that were built to ease one's way to the bottom, a very short walk down. Immediately, you could feel the temperature difference and it was rather cool. We were told that when the ranch used to be a part of the Kahuku Sugar Plantation, workers would often come here to find some relief from the heat above. There is a rock formation at the bottom that looks like a face out of a Lord of the Rings movies... pretty cool! While the cave doesn't really go far, there is a small opening at the back where an employee was able to squeeze in and crawl for a good amount of time to get to another part that opened up into a larger space. As we continued along the trail, there were spots where you could see spectacular views of the north shore towards the PCC and beyond.
Of course, what would a visit to a ranch be without interacting with some cows? We stopped at an area where there were lots of cows... angus, longhorns, etc. There were alfalfa cubes provided to feed these friendly bovines which my daughter eagerly did. They swarmed the ATV and we had to push away some overly eager ones. It was a lot of fun to see these cows up close and we were rewarded by a good dose of cow slobber to show, hahaha!
If you are looking for something fun to do on the weekend, give Gunstock Ranch a try. This is a hidden gem that is well worth your time and is sure to be an enjoyable and memorable experience for all.

This was one of the most fun things we did on our vacation. It was a last minute add but I’m so glad they were able to accommodate us. We did this after doing another more commercialized Jungle tour on another farm. We like this a lot better. They are two different experiences. The Gunstock Farm experience is personalized and private. It is not commercialized. We especially liked our tour guide Kaleb. He was awesome and knew the property well. He was quick to share with us the things he liked about the farm. We went out on the trails in a “UTV”. We loved seeing the cattle and the landscape. If you had to make a choice between the two experiences, I would choose Gunstock.

My wife and I booked the ATV Private Sunset Off Road Dinner not knowing what to expect. WOW I would rate this adventure 10 Stars if I could!!! Check in was super easy Every employee we met was personable, welcoming , helpful and out right amazing. Then we met Trinity our “Wrangler” she was AWESOME! Trinity knew the ranch forward and backyards, her driving skills were amazing and she was fun. She knew all the horses and cows by name and told us about them. If you want to meet cows up close and personal, this is the tour for you, we drove right up to them and gave them treats. After taking a great tour of the Ranch we were taken to a beautiful campsite with a roaring fire and a table set for a private dinner. We enjoyed our Mahi Mahi, mashed potatoes and a salad, the food could have been served in a restaurant. Then for dessert they provided s’mores to be roasted on the fire. Thank You Gunstock Ranch for such a wonderful Hawaiian experience and Thank You Trinity for being great host.

The guide was a kind and sweet person but the “adventure” lacked plenty of adventure. The most disappointing part was the lack of transparency regarding the picture taking process. She offered to take family pictures with her phone during the ride but upon returning all the pictures had a charge associated with them. Appeared to be a little deceptive so use your own phone for pictures

Trinity and Cru were outstanding tour guides and drivers on our ATV tour. We enjoyed every minute. We learned a lot, got to see unique things including spots where some of our favorite tv shows had been filmed. The lunch provided was very good and thoughtfully packed. This was a highlight of our entire Hawaii vacation. I highly recommend this tour for a family with older children or all adults. It is the adventure older teens will enjoy with some history and lots of natural beauty mixed in and it is different than all the beach focus.

The ATV Tour brought us to some beautiful locations including a swing and a picnic spot. The picnic lunch was great! It consisted of a sandwich, a water, juice, cookies, candy, chips and fresh pineapple. The guide- Trinity- was friendly and fun. The ride is not a gentle ride- We hit 38 mph riding over the hills! We also saw some cattle on our ride. Overall a fun experience.

We took a great ATV ride with Kira ( I think), who was entertaining and informative and clearly loves Hawaii and her job. We had a chance to feed some cattle and see lots of the native and imported flora and fauna. The views were fantastic and even the picnic lunch was good.

No trip to Oahu is complete without a trip to the North Shore that includes Gunstock Ranch! The property is beautiful, the staff amazing, and the experience one you won't forget. We were welcomed by Emma who made us feel right at home. I had emailed with her, and other staff members before our tour, and everyone was so very helpful and kind.
Our UTV tour was led by Trinity who loves the ranch and even knows the cows by name! We chose to have lunch on the tour and the location was breathtaking! Such a special excursion.
Gunstock Ranch offers something for everyone of all ages - highly recommend!
