About
Kamoauli is a locally owned, all-wood, double-hulled, traditional Polynesian canoe (wa’a kaulua) offering a one-of-a-kind native Hawaiian cultural and educational experience. Come sail along the beautiful Waikiki coastline and become immersed in the stories and history of place (Mo‘olelo) reflected through the land (ʻāina) and ocean (moana) aboard a classroom on the sea. Our cultural practitioner and crew involve guests in hands on activities, using native materials to make food, clothing, tools, and other traditional items. Ask questions, explore the deck, nets and hulls, take part in poi (taro) pounding or just relax and enjoy. 'Ukulele music and traditional chants ('oli) with locally-sourced traditional food and drinks are all part of this unique experience. *All ages are welcome, minors must be accompanied by an adult.

This was a magical experience! Everyone was knowledgeable, friendly and genuine. We felt slightly guilty having them all to ourselves, since the other party postponed, but we soon got over it.

The authenticity of the boat made it unique. We appreciated the fact that it's a sacred vessel used for education and to help children. By taking the cruise, we helped to fund future educational trips.

All the small touches like drinking fresh coconut water, making poi and sampling the traditional island foods made it special and unlike any other activity we've done.

We were so impressed with the prayers, chants, songs and stories shared with us. The trip honors the history and customs of the original islanders.

This would be lovely for a family with older elementary and up aged children. Because no alcohol is served, it makes it particularly family friendly. For those who don't imbibe, it's nice to go on a sunset cruise where folks aren't getting drunk and loud, like some other sunset cruises. If you do imbibe, I'd recommend holding off until after the cruise so you can get the full experience this offers.

What an amazing experience! I loved the small number of guests and the very personal touches from the crew. Most importantly, speaking as a resident of O'ahu, this should be the future of Hawaiian tourism with a focus on the culture of our islands and the experience of traditional arts such as hula, pounding poi, and chanting at the sunset. The experience of this cruise is one I will remember for a lifetime!

This was wonderful! The crew shares their love and passion of Hawaiian history and culture. I learned so much and have a much greater appreciation and love for the people of Hawaii. We also learned to hula and had a wonderful meal. I would rate this 10 stars if I could. This is a must do!

A very fun, educational & unique experience for our family. Unlike most other 'cruises' and 'sails', this one is on a very unique craft (the double hulled canoe), small (about 6 guests), we got to learn about Hawaii (history, landmarks, etc), and it was a TON of fun (learning to play instruments, make poi, etc). Our whole family got into it and the crew was just amazing in their fun attitude, talent and depth of knowledge. We would do it again! And have recommended it to others already.

Learn more about Polynesian culture and the history of Hawaii aboard the beautifully restored original double hulled canoe. The crew make this an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended. Take a Bonine an hour before sailing if you're prone to motion sickness ;-) this worked like a charm. Expect to eat dinner after the activity. There's a sampling of food provided, but not a meal per se. Fantastic, I'd do this again.

You CANNOT miss out on this experience! Best excursion we did on our first trip to Hawaii! Our sunset cruise was an intimate group of 6 people. The crew welcomed us and made us feel like family. They provided a cultural experience, opportunity to learn more about the history of Hawaii, a hula lesson and some amazing fresh fruit, smoked mackerel (my favorite!) and more! The beautiful sunset was an added benefit. I highly recommend this to any individual, couple and family. There is something for everyone! Kamoauli crew, mahalo for your outpouring of love you showed us!
