Best day ever! Mahalo 🌸
Sep 2021 • Couples
This was the highlight of our trip! It was such a fun day kayaking around the bay and snorkeling the reefs. We even got to see a number of sea turtles! As beginner kayakers we didn’t bother going out to the sandbar but we still had a great time, so don’t worry if you’re not super confident - you’ll be fine!! I loved being able to do our own thing and not have to worry about staying with a group or being supervised.

Highly recommend - thanks team!

Don’t go when weather is not good, you are risking your life
Don’t go if the weather is bad.
First thing I want to complain is the check in process. Low tide of sand bar is 8:25am. We arrived 8:00 sharp. However, I don’t know why, it too them almost 10 min for every people to check in. I never see things like this. They could have send waiver to people while we are waiting in line or just email it to sign online. When we finished checkin, it was already 8:40am. I am very mad, because when I arrive at sand bar, it was 9:30am. Water is at my waist.
Second thing is to remind everyone who is planning to go to sandbar. It is really dangerous. Not because you have to paddle almost one hour when there is wind. I really don’t mind that. The problem is bad weather! Sand bar is always sunny, but On our way back , there are many black could on the sky. And all of a sudden, heavy rain dropped. Wave was huge on the ocean. You can’t really see the wharfs from the ocean. I felt very desperate at the moment. I thought I am going to die. Luckily, my husband and I tried our best and paddle really hard . The rain last about 10min. I was really a nightmare for us. And don’t expect anyone to save you. Because they only rent kayak, they don’t have any life guard or boat on the ocean to make sure everybody is alive. Although I signed waiver, it is still way much beyond my estimation. I would never go again.

Aloha. I am sorry to hear you did not have a good experience. Sorry that you had to wait in line to check in, but so did everybody else, and I'm afraid there is no way around that. I did want to clarify a couple things about the weather and conditions, just so you know. The sandbar is rarely a dry, exposed beach. Most of the time it is underwater and it is most often roughly knee-waist deep. So, even if you had gotten out to the sandbar a little earlier, it would not have been much different. Our tides are very gradual and the difference between high and low tide is not that much. So, I am sorry you didn't get out there for low tide, but we cannot control when low tide is or how long it will take you to paddle out there, and the sandbar would have been knee-waist deep no matter what time you went out there that day. Also, the sandbar is not always sunny. The weather and conditions can change quickly, it is common for rain squalls to come through. This is the ocean, so we are subject to the conditions, and we cannot control them. Usually those squalls don't last longer than about 10 minutes, which sounds like is what you experienced. And you are correct, there are no lifeguards on duty in Kane'ohe Bay. However, we do absolutely make sure that everybody makes it back to us safely, and we never lost anybody. That said, the sandbar is always the longest paddle and the most strenuous and challenging destination, as I'm sure you were informed by our staff, our signage, and the map we provided you. But overall, sorry to hear you didn't have a good time. Thank you.

Good service
Aug 2021
The kayak is ready to go. You don't need to carry it to the beach or whatever. They offer you the snorkel, dry bag, and life jacket.

Tips: Call them to know the weather condition before you go, if weather is not good for beginners, they can reschedule it to other days.

Aloha! Glad to hear you guys had a good time kayaking despite some windy conditions. Sorry to hear your friend got cut on the coral. Hopefully our staff did point out that the coral is a living animal and so you never want to touch it at all under any circumstances, that you may only stand and walk on sand. But also, yes, the coral is very sharp and can easily hurt you as well. But I do hope our staff did tell you to avoid touching the coral at all costs because stepping on it is very damaging to the very fragile coral reef, which is a living animal. Thank you.

Kaneohe Bay windy day
Jun 2021 • Couples
Rented a kayak for the whole day and used it 3 hrs. Very windy day and we really had a hard time to keep direction - kayaks not very good and I should know as I own kayaks. - bit overpriced. staff was very good, polite and helpful just wish we were more informed on the wind and kayak.

Aloha. We appreciate your feedback. The wind is the main factor in Kane'ohe Bay, as is the case with most ocean kayaking, but we are at least inside a very calm, flat, protected bay, so at least the wind is the only factor. And the wind and conditions are different every day, as I'm sure you are aware as a kayaker. However, I am sorry to hear that you were not informed about the wind and conditions. Was there not a big board at our front door where you checked in that displayed the current wind and weather and forecast? And did our staff not brief you with a waterproof map and tell you about the wind conditions for the day? I would be very disappointed and sorry to hear if either of those things were not the case as that is something that we provide to everybody. I am also curious if you could elaborate as to what made our kayaks not very good. I'm not sure if you have sit on top or sit inside style kayaks, or what kind of kayaks you own, but ours are very standard, average sized, recreational style sit on top kayaks of very reputable brands and models. I'm curious, for the sake of our ability to improve, what makes you say the kayaks are not very good. If you'd care to tell us a little bit more about that, we really appreciate your feedback. Mahalo.

Overall okay experience. I give this 5 stars because of how accommodating and encouraging the team was. Word to the wise, don’t go on a windy day if it’s your fist time with your 3 year old. Just trust me.

Aloha! I just wanted to thank you for leaving such a positive review for us. This is really great feedback. You are absolutely right, the bay can be quite windy at times and sometimes maybe a little much for if it's your first time and especially if you have a young one that won't be any help paddling. It definitely can be quite challenging physically, and every day is different. So, your feedback is very accurate and very much appreciated. I am so happy to hear that our staff made the experience better. That's awesome and I really appreciate your review. Hope to see you again soon (on not as windy a day next time!) Mahalo!

Beautiful setting - minimally experienced kayakers beware!
May 2021
Wonderful time - kayaks and all gear were in good repair. Day was beautiful. Winds from the south blow you north, however. Sandbar delightful - sparkling clear, shallow warm water. Snorkeling was fun but we did not see anything - never really made it to the "drop-off". All was going well until we set out to return. The bay is VERY deceiving. We ended up not be able to find the return markers (we suggested they put up a flag but they are not allowed!). After a rather anxious phone call for help, we ended up being towed into the return point. Fortunately, although it was after 4PM when the park closes, they kept someone there to unlock the gate for us so we could get our car out of the parking lot! Lesson learned: exploring a bay may require more experience to navigate back properly. All is well that ends well, however. We were very grateful for the rescue help provided.

Awesome paddle and snorkel to the Kaneohe Sandbar
Mar 2021
This was a great experience. The most important part is that they were willing to reschedule our rental twice because conditions were too windy for us. On the third try, we made it out to the sandbar without incident. It was awesome! The reef/coral here is some of the best I've ever seen. Very varied and colorful. I recommend that you take this adventure paddle sometime if you're on Oahu. Just call ahead and ask them about conditions.

These folks are super accommodating and seem to love to teach you about the bay, the conditions, and the best place to enjoy the reef.

I think there may be underground springs out there. Cold water in some places, really varies. Take a wet suit to enjoy it even more.
