- Dammisavis0 contributionsAmazing guide, incredible adventure! The sunrise walking trek, booked at the very last minute, turned out to be the absolute highlight of our Morocco trip. Ahmed was an incredible guide - enormously knowledgeable and endlessly fascinating. We were there with our 13 year old and I would recommend this trip wholeheartedly. In fact, I would urge you to do it. We will never forget watching the sun rise over the Sahara and are so grateful to Ahmed for the amazing gift he gave us in making it possible. We will be back!Written 25 November 2024
- Traveler091801399130 contributionsDesert learning fun! When I came to Merzouga I was looking for a desert tour which was not only aesthetic but also involved learning about Amazigh/Berber culture directly from a local. I also wanted a tour which was locally run. I was so happy when I found this tour- as it checked all the boxes. To start with we met with Ahmed at a local restaurant as our meeting point. We introduced ourselves and we were given some water. Then we left in a 4x4 with Ahmed and Hamid and started off with off roading on the sand dunes- bumpy fun! We visited the desert nomads and we learned a lot about the Amazigh/Berber language, how it is written, how the nomadic children are taught, how they cook, their wedding traditions etc. I had not realised how much the summers getting hotter has been affecting the nomads way of life- there have been big changes in recent years due to the hotter summers making the desert more arid. It was really fascinating and we had some interesting cultural things in common (between native Irish and Amazigh). We then had tea at the camp. My only regret is that I did not bring a little bag of sweets for the children- they were very cute and shy ! After that we went to get some great photos under the Acacia tree. Hamid took photos of us- he is an excellent photographer, with an artistic eye for the best lighting conditions! Then we went searching for fossils in a volcanic part of the desert! And we found so many of them, and one or two crystals also. Then we went to the local Gnawa music and watched a performance. Usually I am not one for dancing but it was actually really easy to get involved, the men show you how to do the dance and the whole room is involved in a dance circle- everyone was shy at first but then laughing and enjoying it at the end! Lastly we went and had a nice meal at a restaurant, all included before being brought back to the meet up point. The price of this tour was very competitive- I really don't think you can find one that is cheaper but of the same quality. It is all inclusive, there are no hidden charges. Ahmeds English is fluent and you can ask him anything- he is Amazigh and so knows about the culture. We also loved his philosophy of life and he seems like a really genuine person, with a good sense of humour too. I would 100% recommend this tour. In the 4 hours you yet so much done but it is not rushed, you learn about the culture, with two laid back and friendly guides. (32 yo F Irish)Written 17 November 2024
- dancW5218AX0 contributionsAbsolutely fantastic trip, beautiful accommodation and very friendly guidesYou wont be disappointed. Ahmed and his team offer a very warm welcome and honestly, nothing is too much trouble. When we arrived in Merzouga (we hired a car for 3 days and drove from Marrakesh where we were staying at the Riu Tikida Palmeraie) at the meeting point which is the Dar Morocco Hotel we were met by Ahmed who explained the schedule for the trip. We were then taken into the Hotel Reception and given drinks and snacks. We had booked to do the camel ride into the desert but I had decided before we arrived that I didnt feel confident doing it and therefore, just my Husband did the camel trek and I headed to the camp via 4WD driven by Ahmed's Brother (didnt get his name unfortunately but, he was really friendly). Along the way we stopped at another hotel to pick up other guests who were joining the overnight camp. On arrival at camp we were given drinks, cold bottled water and a variety of snacks and were shown around our accommodation. Wow !! - incredible tent right in heart of the desert. Comfortable, clean with private shower and toilet. My Husband arrived approx 40 minutes after me. He absolutely loved the camel ride and would 100% recommend it. As evening approached, we sat and watched the sun go down and had a walk up the dunes before sitting down to evening meal. The meal was fantastic... chicken and lemon tagine, rice, salad, bread, eggplant tagine. Beautiful food and lots of it. Too much for us to finish and afterwards they brought out fresh melon and grapes. After the meal we sat round the fire and the team provided a great evening of entertainment... playing music, showing us how to play the instruments and getting everyone involved in having a go. Dancing around the fire and relaxing under the stars. We woke early to walk up the sand dunes to watch the sunrise. Truly beautiful and a moment I will never forget. You are welcome to stay in the desert as long as you like but we opted to head back to the Hotel to collect our car at about 9.30 am as we had a long drive back to Marrakesh. You will not be disappointed if you book this trip. Like I said, they cannot do enough for you to make you feel comfortable and ensure an enjoyable trip. These guys put 100% effort into making your visit all you hoped for. We did have someone in our group who was moaning about the fact it was a bit cloudy and they couldn't see the stars as clear as they had hoped but come on.... anyone with common sense will know, no one can control the weather but this person seemed to be making a big issue out of it and in fact, she didnt come out of her tent for food or to join in the music etc. I guess you just cant please everyone !!! Thank you Ahmed and team. We will definitely visit again on our next visit to Morocco xxWritten 15 September 2024
- fhdCornwall0 contributionsA great desert experienceThere are many similar trips heading into the desert from Erfoud and I am not exactly sure which one we went on. It was one of the best experiences we had in Morocco. The one hour camel ride into the desert was a unique experience, made a bit more atmospheric by the fact that there was a minor sand storm blowing as we rode. The meal was tasty and well served. The vegetarian meals requested by some of our party were all organised and also tasty. The drumming and dance session in the desert after the meal was a great evening's entertainment. Unfortunately a low cloud obscured the evening stars but we were all up in the morning to see the sunrise. After a good breakfast we took the opportunity to try sand surfing before our return journey. A great experience.Written 17 August 2024
- Roam465285274650 contributionsLike paradiseAmazing trip like paradise, very kind people who guide you from A to Z so you never have to think of anything yourself. The tent in the desert is even better than luxury hotel! This trip is possible for all ages, I went alone with my son and was great!Written 12 May 2024
- aleyar20240 contributionsBest experience in the desert! We did a walking tour with Ahmed through the desert. Even though it listed, the tour might get canceled if we are not enough people, he set off with me and my partner. Experiencing the desert by foot was by far the best decision! Ahmed provided great knowledge, guided us through the dunes, showed us the most amazing views and places we would've never have gotten to alone. 10/10 would recommend and couldn't be happier to have booked this guided tour!Written 13 April 2024
- TizianaC4700 contributionsSwiss precision and Moroccan welcomingWe had a two nights privat tour in Erg Chebbi Desert starting from Merzouga and we really enjoyed it. Ahmed organised it with high professionality and he was also very kind to invite us to have lunch at his home. We had dromedary riding, visit to Khamlia Village and quad driving and 4x4 on the dunes. We had the wonderful chance to have Ismail as driver who also is an outstanding musician and played drums for the camp's guest at night. Erg Chebbi itself is not very big and thus it can get rather crowded, but you can still esperience the desert and Quiet Merzouga Tours was perfect in organising our stay. Thank you very much Ahmed!Written 15 February 2024
- P8391AJmichelar0 contributionsA wonderful experience in the DesertIt was a fantastic experience. Ahmed is a wonderful, kind and welcoming person. We had the pleasure to spend some time witj him and it reminded me why I love to travel, because I love to meet people like him. Booking was simple and the service is very efficient. Spending the night in the tent in the middle of the desert is a unique experience. We reached the tents with the camel and we were lucky enough to find a beautiful sky so it was great to watch the sunset and sunrise. Dinner was plentiful and good, same goes for breakfast. We traveled in December so the night is quite cold but thanks to the warm blankets you will be fine. After dinner we had the pleasure of sharing a moment of music with the group and fhe staff.Written 28 December 2023
- Steve C0 contributionsOnce in a lifetime experience. We had an amazing trip with Quiet Merzouga Desert tours. The entire staff at every location were so friendly and accommodating. Achman met us at the hotel in Merzouga and was the guide for the incredible black desert portion of the journey. He was warm and humble and was such a pleasure to spend so much time with him. Said was our transportation guide and we had such a fun time with him. He’s quite the character and we enjoyed laughing and joking with him for 4 days. Really a pleasure. Thanks Achman for scheduling us at the last minute and entirely over WhatsApp. The entire process was easy and very professional. Great team at all stops. Quiet Merzouga took great care of these Americans.Written 20 December 2023
- 444ramyam0 contributionsOutstandingThis desert camping experience was more than what I was hoping for. It was cozy, comfortable, very friendly and everything I was hoping for a more. The views were amazing. The people and guides were very friendly. They food was outstanding. The service was perfect. The accommodations were very clean and luxurious. There was a sandstorm the night we were camping, so couldn’t view the stars but was nothing anyone could do about it. Though we got experience a sandstorm. Plan for two nights to be on the safer side. They made the stay the more than what we could ask for. Cannot recommend them enough.Written 16 November 2023
- isabelv2350 contributionsUnforgettable trip to the desertWe had a wonderful two day trip with our kids on camels. Everything was perfectly organized, our guide very nice and helpful. We stayed at two different camps, great food and sunrise/sunset. In the evening berber music at the fire place. A truly special experience! The day we walked with the camels to a nomad camp. Here aswell: very friendly people and very good food. Cooked over the oven. It was a very stormy day, what an experinece staying in a sand storm. Also now, our guide guided us to the next camp very safe. Thank you for this very special experience!!Written 20 October 2023
- bskcbn0 contributionsAll in all 10/10 experience, would recommend, sad that we could only stay one night. When entering Merzouga we drove past a sign that read “the friendliest province of morocco”. They weren’t lying. Already at arrival we were greeted by Ahmed, the most welcoming host we have met. He helped us get ready for our stay in the dessert, offered us drinks and snacks while we waited and was happy to share the history of his people with us. Soon it was time to head to our camp. We were allowed to pick a traditional head scarf to protect against the sand on the windy day which the camel guide helped us put on in the traditional way. The camel ride, which lasted for about an hour was amazing, slowly walking into the dunes, until we reach the camp. The reception within the camp was once again top notch. We were offered tea and something to eat before being guided to our tent. The tent is amazing, it is roomy, quiet, has a toilet and shower, which really comes in handy after the camel ride. You’re completely free to explore the dunes around the camp, at night the host will offer some entertainment in the form of their traditional music. After the show they will teach you to play the music, which is an experience in and of itself. Be sure to wake early in the morning to watch the beautiful sunrise. All in all 10/10 experience, would recommend, sad that we could only stay one night.Written 18 October 2023
- Robinv10440 contributionsGreat way to explore Erg ChebbiWe took this walking tour in September 2023. It was an amazing experience! The desert was beautiful and it was especially amazing after sunset when it got really quite. Our guide was a very genuine and kind men who knew a lot about the desert, its people and the surroundings. Walking was the perfect way for us to explore the desert as it isn't as loud as the quads and doesn't involve (the risk of) animal abuse. The walking required a normal condition and the guide stopped if we needed a break.Written 8 October 2023
- jackod20230 contributionsGreat quiet trip to the top of the sand dunes with Ahmed.Ahmed is a really kind and genuine person. We had great conversations about life in general and he shared with us a lot about his culture and told us about what it is like to live in Merzouga. If you like walking and want to see the desert in a way you are supposed to do it (most of the tourist will go by quad which disturbs the locals and nature this early in the morning) I recommend you to book with Ahmed.Written 19 September 2023
