Experience Morocco: Visit a Souk and Cook Moroccan Food in Marrakech
From US$57.49
Cook a feast of regional foods with a small-group Marrakech cooking class that includes lunch in a traditional Moroccan home. Since you’ll go all the way from market-fresh ingredients to a finished meal, this cooking class is a great way to learn techniques and recipes that you can easily recreate in your home kitchen.
What to Expect
Join a guide at Jemaa el-Fnaa and then head into the historic medina to shop for the day’s ingredients. Browse stalls selling meat and vegetables as well as locally grown olives, mint, saffron, and citrus fruit, learning the Arabic words for key ingredients as you shop.

Next, visit a traditional Moroccan home to meet the chef and start cooking. Prepare a main, such as tagine or tangia, both baked dishes of couscous with vegetables and meat; harira, a hearty soup served with dates; or pastila, an apple-based dessert.

When the meal is ready, sit down in the courtyard to share the feast with your fellow cooks and travelers. At the end of the leisurely lunch, return to Jemaa el-Fnaa, where you can shop for spices to bring home, or just soak up the bustling atmosphere of the city’s most popular square.

Excellent food

The best tagine (and by far the biggest) we've had in Marrakech was... Made by us! Overlooked by Karima of course. :-) fun morning learning a delicious recipe (for a salad, tagine and dessert) and relaxing on the terrace. Would definitely do it again!

A Nice Experience

This was a fun experience of cooking local cuisine, however we had some communication issues and were also a bit disappointed that we weren't more involved with the prep work. I had tried to call ahead (for a special dietary request) and no one answered...More
