- luigidI3348XK0 contributionsAn unforgettable tourThe tour from Marrakech to Fes was really exciting. We had the opportunity to visit some of the most interesting and beautiful places within the trip. The organization was simply perfect and, more than anything, our guide/driver Abderrahman was a perfect host, kind and helpful, always ready to tell us stories and give us any kind of information, really like an hold friend. Thanks guys of AST for all... hope to have the opportunity to make another trip in Morocco with you..!!!Written 28 February 2025
- GT1234Z0 contributionsHighly recommendedWe have just finished an amazing trip. Jamal was a fantastic driver/tour guide. He showed us how varied a country Morocco is - from snowy mountains to the Sahara desert. This tour company was reliable and well run Highly recommend this company. Ask for Jamal!!Written 31 October 2024
- placestogo0 contributionsSahara Desert & More - An Experience of a Lifetime with a Great Tour CompanyWe did Authentic Sahara Adventures - 3 day Sahara Tour with one night in the Sahara. It was an exceptionally memorable experience. Communications with Authentic Sahara Adventures (ASA) were easy and excellent. We booked our trip while still in Canada and everything was arranged through WhatsApp- very easy. The tour was a 2 day drive from Marrakech to the desert through beautiful gorges, the towering Atlas Mountains and the very interesting Aid Ben Haddou. Mustapha, our driver was great at sharing information about our stops ( except for Aid Ben Haddou where a local guide was arranged). Mustapha is an excellent driver, took care of everything along the way which made the trip very easy. The Sahara is stunning, the camel rides are worth it and the desert camp is a great experience. The driver from Sahara to Fes was also beautiful. Highly recommend this tour if you want to cover these areas.Written 30 September 2024
- 757biruka0 contributions5/5 experienceYassin is not only kind, but also generous and knowledgeable! He is both a capable driver and a wonderful guide, teaching us about the incredible history of Morocco and the intersection between the Amazigh and Arabic cultures.Written 27 September 2024
- kristinan6840 contributionsFantastic experienceThis was our first visit to Morocco and thanks to Authentic Sahara Tour and our guide Jamal it was wonderful and unforgettable. Our tour with Jamal was very eventful, we managed to visit the desert and mountains, several interesting cities, markets with local products, and other interesting attractions. The organization of the trip was great: the manager and Jamal were constantly in touch and answered all my requests, the route was built very professionally, hotels, food, car — everything was great. We had a fantastic experience!Written 28 August 2024
- magorama0 contributionsUnforgettable private guided Sahara tour!I highly recommend choosing Authentic Sahara Tours for a private, multi-day excursion to the desert. Reservations were easy and communication was excellent with Lahcen via email. You never know what your guide will be like in advance, but we lucked out with Hakim! We had so much fun and learned so much about Morocco from him. We explored so many interesting places during our tour including historic kasbahs, gorges, small villages, mountain vistas, a nomad camp, and of course — the Sahara desert. Thank you Hakim! The accommodations for all three nights were excellent. Both Riads were comfortable, had delicious dinners and breakfasts, and friendly staff who made us feel welcome from start to finish. The desert camp was beautiful and well-equipped with private bathrooms and showers in our tents. Thanks again to Hakim for guiding us so expertly and making our trip to Morocco unforgettable! - H7122OMmaryc0 contributionsExceptional tour -- Ask for Walid!AST was recommend from a colleague and I am so glad we went with them! We booked a 4 day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga and on to Fes and an additional day trip to Chefchaouen. The accommodations were lovely and the stops along the way were perfect. We had the same driver, Walid, the whole time and he was the best!! Walid was friendly, shared a lot of history and had great conversations with us. He was an excellent tour guide with the perfect awareness of when to engage. He ensured we had some very unique experiences with the local Berber people, which was authentic and enjoyable. He even helped us out with an issue we had with customs that involved shipping a drone from Marrakech to Fes -- he came to our rescue when there was a language barrier with the authorities. My husband and I appreciated his professionalism throughout and his help when needed. Walid truly exceeded expectations!Written 17 June 2024
- Road122131961010 contributionsTruly authenic and wonderful tripMy husband and I went on a 4-day trip from Marrakech to Sahara then to Fez with Jamal. It was the trip of a life-time! From the picturesque filming site of Ait Benhaddou, to the wonder of canions and gorges in the High Atlas. We drove hours and hours deep into the mountains and away from civilisation, until we reached the majestic Sahara desert sand dunes. The night in the desert was absolutely the highlight of the trip. We rode one-hump-camels (a dromedary) away from the camp to see the sun set. Then under the star-lights, indulge the fine cooking provided by the owner/chef of the camp who lived and worked in Japan. The food was as phenomenal as the starry night sky we slept under. The next day, we found little foot prints of fennec foxes, who apparently had paid us a little visit, putting a smile on our faces. The last day we decided to visit Volubilis on our way to Fez, which was not part of the tour, but Jamal happily took us there. Honestly we did not regret. The UNESCO site was decorated with wild flowers in spring, waving in the gentle afternoon breeze. I will not hesitate to hire AST's service again (hopefully with Jamal) when I come back to the wonderful Morocco with my parents. Only one thing to be aware of in Morocco, everything is paid in cash so don't get caught out not bringing enough cash and having to stop and search for ATM and get charged for using the rural ATMs constantly... Get as much as you need in Jeema El Fnaa, we found the only cash point that didn't charge us extra there...Written 14 May 2024
- flynaroundtheworld0 contributions9 days in Morocco - ASK FOR JAMAL!We booked a private driver/guides through AST but organised our own hotel bookings in Marrakech, Ait Ben Haddou, Atlas Mountains and Agafay. After reading numerous reviews, we specifically asked for Jamal as our driver for our 9 day trip and he was incredible. We felt so comfortable with him and he was a great communicator during our whole trip, which made everything so easy. He was helpful when we needed recommendations for food and gave us lots of information along the way, while also respecting when we needed to rest. I would highly recommend booking AST and asking for Jamal - you won't regret it! If we come back to Morocco again (to explore the north), we will definitely be requesting that Jamal be our driver as we loved our time with him. Thank you, Jamal!Written 13 May 2024
- Q5130OJchristians0 contributionsQuality 3 Day Tour, would recommend! The trip was a great way to see the desert region of Morocco in a quick and digestible timespan. Both evening locations that we stayed at were very luxurious, and provided entertainment and views outside of your typical day in the car. Would recommend this tour (it is a bonus if you also get to drive with Mohammed) To quickly clarify, originally we booked the 4 day option, however were told that another couple on our trip needed to reduce to the 3 day option and that we could either also change or pay for a private tour. This left us in a tough spot due to Riad reservations, however it turned out fine (we elected for the 3 day option). The questionable part is once we met the other two couples on our trip, it turns out they wanted the 4 day as well and were sent the same email. (AST should just remove this option if it is not really available). Getting that clarification out of the way, we were actually very thankful to have the 3 day trip. We felt that we fully experienced the region, and one day longer could have been too much. As cool as the desert is to see, many stops were similar to one another. The stops were frequent for bathroom purposes (roughly every 1-2 hours). The evening stays were really where this trip shined, our stay in the Sahara was breathtaking, and well organized. The things I would suggest is to have a more curated script on each of the main cities that we drove through. AST could provide the drivers with more local information to act as a true tour guide since we are with them 80% of the time on the road. Mohammed (our driver) did a good job fielding general questions. The second thing that should be added is a defined schedule per day. It was a bit ambiguous on when we were to arrive at each “event” location, so more transparency there would have been appreciated. Overall, this was a great trip, and truly opposite of some of the other tour group horror stories I read. I would recommend it to others! Thank you for a great vacation!Written 7 May 2024
- H9956YXemilyn0 contributionsAmazing Desert TourWe had an amazing desert tour with Mohammed. The night in the camp in the desert is definitely a highlight of our 2 weeks in Morocco. Mohammed was friendly and happy to answer any questions we had throughout the trip. We felt safe on the windy roads in Mohammed’s capable hands. Thank you for an amazing trip! We highly recommend this trip to others.Written 6 May 2024
- U408LMnancyl0 contributions5 Days Desert Tour Fes-MarrakeshWe had an Amazing 5 days Sahara Desert Trip from Fes to Marrakesh! Thanks to our guide Hakim and everyone else along the trip, we had the chance to learn and discover the beauty of Morocco's many sceneries and histories. From the middle to the high Atlas passing through Merzouga Desert, the Dades Canyons, etc. I strongly recommend AST agency, providing comfortable Riads, great meals and activities all the way. Hakim, our guide and driver was also very professional and cautious on the Road. Will certainly keep this contact for future trips to Morocco. Thank you Authentic Sahara Tours!!!Written 24 April 2024
- K9053TVbrianr0 contributions7D/6N Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, Merzouga, Dades, Marrakesh tourThis tour was a great first timer's introduction to Morocco. AST was great to work with from beginning to end. We had found a tour on the AST website that we liked, but we had one less day available because of flight schedules; AST was able to help us build a custom itinerary that fit our schedule and still visit the sights we wanted. When we return to Morocco we will certain reach out to AST again. Our driver/guide Jamal greeted us at the airport in Casablanca and told us we were his family for the next week. 6 days passed and it absolutely felt like we were saying goodbye to a brother at the airport in Marrakesh. He was punctual with his timing, clearly communicated aspects of the tour, entertained us with conversation throughout the many hours of driving, and kept us safe and happy the entire time. 5 stars is not enough to rate Jamal!!! Our tour included a driver/guide for the duration, nightly accommodations (breakfast at each, dinner in Merzouga and Dades), and city walking tours (Rabat, Fes, Ait Ben Haddou, and Marrakesh). Not included were additional meals, site entrance fees, or tips. Over the course of our week, the two of us spent about 3500 Dirham ($350 US) on these additional cost. I would highly recommend having this in cash, as many places do not accept cards. We encountered one minor hiccup with the final payment of our tour cost. Some miscommunication caused confusion about whether we were to pay our balance to our driver/guide or pay via emailed link like we did for our deposit. Jamal was able to get everything squared away with the office with a quick phone call.Written 11 March 2024
- Casey13130 contributions6 Night Imperial Cities & Sahara DesertThis tour was wonderful! It was our first visit to Morocco and was a perfect intro to the country and culture. Jamal, our driver, was absolutely the best! He took such great care of us from the moment we arrived until the moment we said goodbye at the airport. He was always on time, he went over the agenda with us each day, he drove us everywhere safely, and he always greeted us with a smile. Jamal was a big reason why we loved our visit to Morocco! Thank you for being so great, Jamal! Each city tour guide that AST set us up with were highly professional and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed talking with and learning from each one of them. The riads we stayed in each night were great. The rooms were cozy and comfortable, and the hospitality was unbelievable. We enjoyed visiting the cities and historical sites, but our night in the desert was the highlight of the trip. The camp itself was beautifully decorated, in addition to being situated in such a beautiful place. I would absolutely recommend tours with AST. They work with great partners to ensure that your visit is perfect! Every part of our visit was well planned, I can’t imagine having better guides or accommodations than what we had with AST.Written 6 March 2024

Service Par excellence! one cannot ask for a better tour company. Lachen, Hakim, and Mohammed were fantastic. Lachen, was in constant contact to confirm services we booked (airport transfers, private souk guide, a day trip to Essaouira). He also checked after each acitivy to find out if services was ok and if we enjoyed our tours. Hakim is very professional and great driver. Can't say enough good things about him. Mohammed was a pro in his guide services and very knowledgeable. BTW, he suggested some stores but there was no pressure that we buy. We are seasoned travelers and have experienced countless of tour services, whether private or in a group. This company is way up there in its service and professionalism.

My partner and I had such a great time after our three-day desert tour with Mohamed, we requested him for a day trip to Essaouira from Marrakech.
It's a long drive, but again, worth the time to go for the day, especially with such good company. We made a brief stop at the (staged, but still fun) goats in trees (I appreciated that Mo seemed amused by it, too, although he'd clearly seen it many times), but otherwise didn't stop by the argan oil producers along the way, since we were eager to get to the sea. Once we got to Essaouira, we parted ways and made a plan to meet back up later in the afternoon -- so we were on our own for the full day.
Essaouira is the polar opposite of Fez and Marrakech -- calm, peaceful, tranquil. The medina is small and totally navigable without hassle or too much headache. The streets are quaint and many have the stunning blue walls you see in Chefchaouen. We wandered around, checked out the ramparts, had some delicious sfenj (Moroccan street donuts, omg, SO GOOD, best dirham you'll ever spend), a delicious lunch at a vegan cafe in a sleepy square, grabbed a drink after on a rooftop overlooking the sea before taking a long stroll on the beach. It was a lovely day and again, Mohamed was the perfect guide -- great conversation, excellent driving. Highly recommend.
We went in December, and it was sunny and 70. You're not going to swim, but def wear sunblock!

We are a group of 3 young girls who did this 3 day trip and absolutely could not have asked for a better tour guide. Mohamed was the greatest! His English was excellent and he was funny and very accommodating if we ever needed to stop for food or coffee!
We were picked up from our hostel in fez and left for the desert! We rode the camels into the sunset where we stopped in the middle of the desert and got to hangout, go sand boarding and watch the sunset over the dunes of the Sahara. We rode the camels back to the tents which were sooo luxurious. The food was delicious (chicken lemon tagine of course) and the drum show was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately the weather did not permit a camp fire but that also would have been nice. If you’re going in the march months, prepare for a chilly night! Although the thick layers of the blanket tend to do a good job of keeping you warm.
The next day was driving through todra gorge and back to Marrakech. We had a bus to catch so Mohamed made sure to get us there on time! Throughout the trip we really got to know one another and we feel as though we have made a great friend in Morocco! He even led one of our tours when our other tour guide bailed! I would recommend this trip especially with Mohamed 😊😊
