About
Do you have an extra day before or after a safari in Tanzania? Or do you simply have a day in Morogoro to fill while waiting for a transfer in or out of town? A hike in the Uluguru Mountains to Choma Waterfall or all the way to Bondwa peak or Lupanga Peak is a great way to spend the day!,
This is more of a walk through villages on a steep dirt trail, than it is a true “hike” through treacherous terrain

- Trek519909625620 contributionsExcellent but dont book through TUIThe two-day safari was excellent. Booked through TUI and we should NOT have done this as they did not give us any information beforehand except what time pick-up was. But once I got there, the personnel from the game reserve took care of us. The land safari was exceptional, and the next day walk in the bush and river safari was fantastic. The camp (resort) where we stayed had excellent service and food. I had air conditioning, which was a must at this time of the year. Two days was enough for seeing this reserve.Written 7 January 2025
- sharonvM8976GZ0 contributionsGreat experienceWe booked the 3 day selous safari with 2 jeep safaris, a bush walk and a boat safari. For our boat and walk safari we had guide Julius who took to the time to explain everything about the nature and animals of Tanzania. He was very friendly and even learned us how to make a fire in wild nature. For our 2 day jeep safari we had a private guide named Mwinyi who made sure we had the best spots for the perfect picture. He took us to the most beautiful places and showed us every animal there is to see in this amazing nature. If you had any question for Mwinyi he made sure he took the time to answer. He brought coffee, tea and snacks with him for a small brake in the morning and for lunch he had some nice food aswell. We had a very lovely experience with the most friendly rangers!Written 26 December 2024
- DayTrip355795755550 contributionsPerfect safari destinationThe game reserve was a wonderful experience and I wish we would have had more time to enjoy the area! We stayed 3 nights but we really felt that we need to come back to see more. As it is widely scattered and crossed by rivers and difficult terrain, it really takes time to explore. Our driver Davis was absolutely superb and we highly appreciated his driving skills in this muddy a challenging surface. We travelled with Tanzania Horizon Safaris and the jeep was in a very good condition, nonetheless I believe that there is more to discover which simply requires more time. Thanks for Davis and the team we saw so many animals, from crocodiles, hippos, lions and so many birds and zebras song the shores of Rufiji river and along with so many elephants! One personal highlight for me was when we went on a bush walk and saw a family of elephants at a short distance right in front of us. Absolutely to remember!Written 30 November 2024

We saw so much in the day, a pride of Lions, Hippos, Buffalo, Zebras, Crocodiles, Impala’s, Hyena’s , Warthogs, Baboons plus more elephants and loads of Giraffes. Throughly recommend this trip the landscape is stunning too!Written 2 November 2024
- Pathfinder3317820 contributionsGreat self drive experience in Nyerere national park .After a self drive trip in Mikumi national park , I proceeded to the coastal region where I decided to visit Nyerere National park . Even although the park was located 445kms from Mikumi , during the game drive , I appreciated that it was worthy the drive . I booked a local guide with the lodge and Iam happy that he is informed and made the game drive interesting as he explained to me the history , the size , and various spots for wildlife watching . It was great moment during my game drive , I would recommend any self drive traveler that it’s possible to self drive in Tanzanian parksWritten 26 October 2024
- astanal20240 contributionsWe are very happy for this experience.I have been dreaming to go on a safari tour for years thinking that it will take years to have the budget to plan it. I was wrong, we have been able to afford a great 5 days safari with my boyfriend at Selous Game Reserve and Mikumi. Many thanks to Halisi African Adventures for organising this life time safaris experience. We totally loved our experience especially thanks to our wonderful private guide Frank. He knows very well the animals, where to find them, how do they live and above everything he is a great person, it has been a real pleasure to travel with him! Also we have been very lucky as we booked a group safari but ended with a private tour at the same price. No need to say that seeing so many animals in their natural environment and so close from you will blow your mind. Best trip ever done so far, we will surely come back in few years.Written 25 October 2024

We counted 23 different animals and birds over 2 days with our wonderful guide - Charles (who we definitely recommend!) including: elephants, lions (who had just killed and were guarding their prey), buffalo, african wild dogs, vultures (feasting on a giraffe!), hippos, warthogs, hyenas, crocodiles, antelopes and more! You're in for a treat!Written 21 July 2024
- Sharik-Nolin0 contributionsOne of our best safari experience in Tanzania. We have been on 2 Safaris with Halisi African Adventures. Second trip (after Mikumi National Park ) was Selous Game Reserve. It was amazing experience. Our guide Patrick did his best to show us as many animals as possible. He has a great knowledge about their habits and behavior and during the trip he made sure we have all we need. We could observe wildlife without hurrying, and could take our time in every spot as long as needed. Safari vehicle was comfortable, and safe. We were provided with good quality binoculars. Brighton also organized for us triple room for accomodation instead of 2 separate rooms, what was very important for us. Selous is really stunning place on Earth.Written 3 July 2024
- Tevfik_Kaya0 contributionsOne day safari.Very well organised, on time, and good driver and guidance! One day is enough to see the park and enjoy quick safari, beautiful animal families..Written 22 June 2024
- Culture009401009690 contributionsSelous and Mikumi were a wonderful combination for our safari! Our safari to Selous Game Reserve (also known now as Nyerere Game Reserve) and Mikumi National Park was absolutely amazing! Our guide, Davis, was incredibly knowledgeable and made the trip so special. He had a knack for spotting wildlife and sharing fascinating facts about them. The national park is super large and remote and it really did feel like being very far away from civilization. The area is so versatile, from the river to savannah to bushland, moorlands and dense rainforest. Each day was so different that the time was just flying by. I wish we could have stayed a bit longer. Staying at Selous Kinga Lodge and Camp Bastian was wonderful. Both places were cozy and had fantastic views. The highlight of our safari was the boat trip along the Rufiji River. We got to see elephants and hippos up close, which was simply breathtaking! Everything was well-organized, making our trip stress-free and enjoyable. Huge thanks to Davis and Tanzania Horizon Safaris for an unforgettable adventure. Highly recommend them for anyone looking for an incredible safari experience in Tanzania!Written 1 June 2024
- khalil b0 contributionsAmazing place and so versatile and interesting! Our safari with Tanzania Horizon Safaris to the Selous Game Reserve was absolutely incredible! After starting our safari in Kenya, continuing in Tanzania was the perfect choice. We crossed from Tarangire via Mikumi National Park to enter Selous from the East. It was a long trip, but it was absolutely worth it. Our guide, Patrick, was fantastic – super knowledgeable and friendly. He made the experience unforgettable, spotting even the most hidden animals and sharing fascinating facts about them. The Selous Game Reserve was breathtaking, with beautiful landscapes and so much wildlife. We saw elephants, lions, hippos, and even rare wild dogs! Everything was perfectly organized, making our trip stress-free and very enjoyable. We stayed at Sable Mountain Lodge in Mikumi among others and then traversed to Selous and stayed at Sand Rivers Selous which were all great choices. A huge thanks to Patrick and Tanzania Horizon Safaris for an amazing adventure. We highly recommend them for anyone looking for an unforgettable safari experience in Tanzania!Written 18 May 2024
