Tripadvisor gives a Travellers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
It is known as “Coca-Cola” route, Marangu approaches Kilimanjaro from the southeast of the Mountain. It is the oldest established route. Many favour the Marangu route because it is considered to be the easiest route on the mountain. The minimum days required for this route is five, although the probability of successfully reaching the top in that time is a bit low. Spending an extra acclimatization day on the mountain is highly recommended, maximizing the chance of reaching the summit. Marangu is the only route which offers sleeping huts in dormitory-style accommodations.

Happu Happy! Kazi Nzuri, Kazi Safi!
Most friendly staff. From Porters to cooks, guides, and finally Mr Wence the organiser! All went well from when Wence met us at the Hotel Lux Palace to meet and greet. The senior guides were led by Mr Msafiri, Rama, Allan, and the Junior guide, Mr Ronald. All did a commendable job ensuring that our team's needs were equally met. Even though some of us didn't seem to obey the rules of not running towards Kibo Hut, we managed to summit on Sunday, December 15th, 2024. My team is super excited about all the coordination and support. The porters did a good job ensuring that all our luggage was handled professionally. The cooks led by Pascal all ensured that we got 5-star meals on time. Keep up the good job team.

        Kilimanjaro my bucket list
The porters, guide cooks made sure we were made to feel comfortable as possible during the challenging climb. It was an amazing experience difficult to put into words. Respect to the people that took such good care and made the journey up the mountain filled with humour. I was suppose to make this journey last year for personal reasons couldn’t. Intrepid made sure the deposit I paid last year was deducted from the trip this year. Wence lovely guy warm kind and gentle. Intrepid make sure aur needs were met at every point under the circumstances. A very biiiiig thank you to Wence and Team I loved my experience, returning next year as I will be better prepared and Mount Kilimanjaro is calling me

Top of Africa with the best entourage !!
The whole experience was just amazing , a challenge of a life time and we had the best entourage to help us realise our dream of reaching the top. From the guides (Alan and Shefii) to the chef (J4) who made amazing food despite the weather conditions and the amazing porters especially (Paschal) who was just a gem, the most humble human you can come across and waited on us 5 star style . They all really took good care of us and helped us down after we summited when we had no energy to walk back down. There are no words to explain the whole experience ..it was simply an experience of a life time and one to never ever forget. We are so glad to have used this company and Wence’s team were just incredible. If you want an amazing experience from the moment they collect you from the airport to the moment they drop you back …this is the company for you. Can’t fault them and we are so grateful to have used them. Thank you so so much !!

This is the group to ascend Kilimanjaro with, period.
I went on the Lemosho Traverse of Kilimanjaro and the trip was led by Intrepid Travel (8 guests total in our group). I am writing this well-deserved review, but there will never be enough that can be said about how incredible our guides, our porters, our cooks, and just everybody on our team, was on this trip. They did the inconceivably difficult task of leading us up of the mountain, and not only this, they supported those who elected not to summit with love, empathy, and endless care to make sure that they too had an experience that was to their liking. So to say that they went above and beyond in the is truly the understatement of all understatements. The way they took care of us all along the way, making sure we had the most comfortable, enjoyable, and safe experience in the face of a mountain like this one is nothing short of heroic. Myself and the others who chose to summit would have had zero chance of making it to the top had it not been for this team, and not only of summiting, but of summiting and having a ton of fun and learning so much along the way. Most importantly, everyone on the team made sure to form true bonds with us and to make sure we were treated like family at the end of every increasingly difficult leg of the trek when we were in need of TLC. They didn’t want us to just summit, they actually wanted us to have an experience we would never want to forget, and they did everything they could and then some to make sure that happened, and they succeeded. If you are planning to head up Kilimanjaro, I would highly highly highly highly recommend booking a trek up with Intrepid. They are simply a group that, if you have the opportunity to have them by your side on your adventures, you do not pass it up.

I didn't know the Intrepid Explorer and its owner Wenceslaus Tarimo. He was referred to me by my friend and i initiated the plan. W.Tarimo was always available on phone calls/messages to give full guidance about the trip, as i had known very little about it. He was polite and full of cooperation during the phone calls and also helped me in booking my local flight tickets and also in obtaining a Tanazania visa, I went as solo hiker in machame route, Mr.Tarimo arrange everything perfectly the Guide, porters, tent which helped me to summit Mt Kilimanjaro within 6 days. and arrange my other trip to hot water spring and arusha national park.

an unforgettable trek up Mt Kilimanjaro
We did the Umbwe route to climb Mt Kilimanjaro, and we had a fantastic experience. Our guides, porters and cook were all great and took exceptionally good care of us. Although the trek was configured as a 6 day itinerary, we were able to shorten it by several days, as we were experienced hikers, and our guides were happy to come up with an updated plan that better fit our fitness level and preferences. We brought our own gear, except we used the sleeping pads that were provided. The food was excellent, and we were very well fed. Our main guide, Shafi, was excellent -- knowledgeable, friendly, and good at keeping us informed and in the loop. The trek itself was incredible -- definitely a top lifetime experience for me. I would 100% recommend Intrepid Explorer. I would go with them again.

        Phenomenal experience!
This tour was fantastic from start to finish. Wence (the owner) catered the tour to our preferences and we had a great team of guides, porters, and a cook. This tour comes with free airport pickup and drop-off as well as a night at a bed and breakfast on both the front and back end of the trip. My friend and I are both fairly strong hikers and our guide (Shafii - also highly recommended) was able to work with us on a faster trip with less down time, basically hiking through a few of the camps. I only suggest this for folks who aren't affected by the altitude. The porters were great - I was able to chat with them a bit about football (soccer), and the food was amazing.... And ridiculously plentiful. I've never been offered so much food in my life. The guides were careful, helpful, and prepared us each night for the next day. We brought most of our own gear - but what we borrowed was also great. Overall, an A+ experience - I'm already trying to plan a return trip on a different route with intrepid explorer

The owner (Wence) cannot be trusted.
Wence (the owner) does not care about your experience - he’s only interested in making a sale. As a solo traveller I was asking around a number of tour operators to see if I could join a group for kilimanjaro. The only reason I picked Intrepid Explorer Tanzania is because they assured me I was joining a group of 10 and their website and socials appeared legitimate. Wence and his team kept telling me “the others are arriving tonight”, “they will meet you at the gate”. When we arrived on the day it turns out there is no group. When I tried to call him to get an explanation he wouldn’t pick up the phone. All other tour operators I dealt with had the honesty and decency to tell me that they were unable to find me a group. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.

We embarked on trekking on 4th September targeting a summit on 8th on my 40th Birthday as a team of 4 Friends Tanzanians and while in Moshi teamed up with a couple from Kenya to make a team of 6.

Everyone in the team was very motivated, energetic from the guides (Uncle Jonas, Isaya, Simon), porters (Anold, Athuman, Filex, Frank, Jamal, Rashid, Katunzi to mention a few), and cooks (Stomach Engineer Chef Damian) . The food was super delicious, more than I expected given the challenging environments.

The guides did a tremendous job as they were very encouraging and supportive, they made sure the entire team reached the summit. Crossing the Jamaica to Gilmans point was a suicidal attempt at some point I felt very tired, felt like yelling, crying, had lot of pit stops every now and then could not move, my legs were sore and I thought I wouldn’t make it to the summit but hey Issaya – Ass. Guide kept on encouraging me saying I can do it and eventually I made it to the Uhuru Peak. The feeling of being at the rooftop of Africa provides more than just a beautiful view and a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, it feels like I can conquer and achieve anything in this world. 40th Birthday well celebrated.

Speaking of the wagumu, also known as porters were very happy with their duties and they were very helpful. I was so overwhelmed with joy when they came to receive me on my way down from Kibo to Horombo, it was very kind of them.

Climbing Kilimanjaro is an unforgettable experience, tough but doable with the right mindset and willing to trek another route in the near future.

What an absolute feeling. It is such a surreal moment. 6 Days of walking all through the days and night, the oxygen getting thinner, cold and a constant uphill.

I could not be prouder of myself. I did it, but above all, my guide was the best, mount Kilimanjaro trek, the success to uhuru peak will always contributed by the guide on your side.

Mount Kilimanjaro, one of the best moments of my life seeing this beauty with my eyes.

I am proud to say that i have conquered Kilimanjaro. Honestly, one of the hardest thing i have ever chosen to do. Lots of ups and downs, mentally and physically challenging myself to the max. But i couldn’t done it without the support of Intrepid Explorer Tanzania and my friend Kasim Issa Kaurly.

It was a beautiful, yet tough, adventurous yet challenging trip for me. It was my first time to climb Mt Kilimanjaro (something I had planned for over 4 years) and I loved every bit of it, from the guides, to the organisation, to the food. I highly recommend Intrepid Explorers if you want to climb Mt Kilimanjaro. Very caring and supportive team.

The trip was tailored to perfection, from the meals to the guides who made us feel like home away from home.

The highlight for our trip was, the birthday suprise! guides suprised me with a bottle of champagne and a baked suprise cake at Horombo.

I would highly recommend and will definitely arrange future trekking with them!
