About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- alysasm0 contributionsWalk with LionsThis company is the worst! After booking I reached out for confirmation and never received information needed for the day of. The morning of my tour, I had to call them to remind them they had a guest booked for the day. After scrambling to pick me up, I was 1 1/2 hours late and missed a good portion of what was promised. Their site promises 3 hours, I received 20 minutes. No breakfast as promised and a completely rushed experience. The site states it’s on the Zambia side, which is where I stayed. Found out that it’s on the Zimbabwe side that morning and was asked for additional fees never stated on the site. I’ve asked for only a partial refund as I did get to experience the lions and I understand transportation costs. You think I received a response after multiple attempts? Absolute robbery. I have so many friends coming in February that I would’ve loved to refer had this been handled correctly. I’ll spare them the headache!Written 9 January 2025

- AdventureDaniel0 contributionsEarly start but worth it. Lions! We chose the full day tour as it was the only way to get to Chobe early enough to see the lions before they hide in the heat of the day. The 5am pickup was punctual and we were the first through the border when it opened at 6am, then straight to the park. Saw the lions! Also buffalo, hippo, warthog, the back end of a giraffe and loads of elephants. The river cruise in the afternoon was very nice too. It was a long day but totally recommended. We also did devil's pool with the same company. Definitely an experience to remember. Overall the company did us a great deal and helped with transport options for the onward travel. Would use these guys again.Written 1 December 2024
- K4952HXmarkw0 contributionsGreat Fun but Ask to see the WaterfallsThis was a great couple of hours to spend seeing the sights of Victoria Falls township and park - but not the waterfalls. Best view on the tour was from the Outlook Cafe of the river gorge. Our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining but we did request he skip the end of the tour to the hotel and market so we could view the waterfalls on foot for an hour. He was happy to accommodate us. Entry to the waterfalls park is US$50 each and they are the highlight of the area, naturally, even in the dry season.Written 22 October 2024
- robertsS4010AR0 contributionsNot Worth The CostOverall I was quite disappointed. The scenery on the ride was industrial and nothing special until you get to the Victoria Falls Bridge. Ride stopped on the bridge and did not go further into Zimbabwe. We were there during the dry season so all you saw of the falls was a very small dry section of the gorge. But even during the wet season you would still see only a very very small section of the falls. On the bridge you will be besieged by folks trying to sell you things. I understand these folks are just trying to make a living but I found it very intrusive. The actual meal was OK not great. The nicest things about this is the old train carriages. They are very cool with beautiful wood interiors.Written 13 October 2024

And after the experience, I have to congratulate all members / guides and especially Alex who was our main guide for their professionalism ! I felt safe ; mind you it’s a once only in a lifetime. - philipjamesw0 contributionsA Wonderfully Unique Dining Experience. This was truly a step back in time. Growing up in the north of England part of the excitement of spending summer holidays at a seaside town was the journey on a steam train. The Victoria Falls Railway experience was of course far ritzier and such a unique dining experience. Catered by the Victoria Falls Hotel, the food was delicious and superbly presented. I cannot recommend it enough.Written 5 August 2024
- jeannecC3109RN0 contributionsHappy Anniversary Party! The dinner train across Victoria Falls was spectacular. Beautiful views, friendly and accommodating staff. Tulani was an awesome host and made our family (3 generations there to celebrate a big anniversary) feel especially welcome and celebrated. All 3 generations had fun experiencing a steam train. The live music was so fun and somehow knew to include a special song for my parents. Food was great.Written 20 July 2024
- WilliamWillieWilson0 contributionsYou'll see Zimbabwe and Zambia (no special visa required)This is the most charming time to end a day in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. The dinner is spectacular, the entertainment is lovely, and you'll pass into Zambia (no special visa required) before returning to the Victoria Falls Bridge where the vintage steam train parks for a while. You can shovel coal and blow the whistle in the detached engine at this point.Written 16 July 2024
- stacyp780 contributionsNot so good (based on the tour organizer, not the tour/package itself)The trip overall was decent (6 out of 10). We did have issues when we arrived being placed in a lesser hotel. Per our initial booking we should have been placed at the Shearwater Explorers Village hotel/property, but instead we were forced to stay at the N1 hotel down the road. This was very disappointing and a much different experience than expected. As well, included in our package was lunch at Lookout Cafe after our tour of Victoria Falls. Upon arrival, the driver mentioned that the only charge would be alcohol. After we ate, the staff at the restaurant gave us a bill for the 3 of us. We inquired about the meal being included and no one we spoke to at the restaurant was aware of the meal being included in our package. When the driver arrived, he said he had to speak to someone at the restaurant but did not rectify our issue with payment. Given all of the actions and looking back at the situation, it seems that the coordinator of the tour and hotel may have had some secret “wink-wink agreement” that they would still charge those who had the 3-day package and get some sort of kick back. Lastly, the safari tour seemed to be much lesser quality than promised. In addition, the truck that my family and I was placed in was very old and one of the doors did not properly open. Moreover, the head guide had another gentleman with him who we are assuming may have been training to be a safari guide, but we were never told why the other “guide” would be in the vehicle. The training guide had poor judgment and a few times got too close to the elephants on the tour and we were almost charged by one teenage male elephant. To make matters worse, the trainee was not comfortable driving a manual transmission and stalled out so many times that we eventually got stuck in a sandy area off of the trail and the experienced guide had to drive the truck for the rest of the safari. Based on several issues listed above, we definitely would NOT recommend using the same person (Brighton- Tamuka Travel) that was responsible for this particular 3-day tour. As well, we are requesting refunds for the difference in price for the 2 nights staying at N1 hotel versus the Shearwater Explorers hotel AND the cost of our lunch at Lookout Cafe.Written 21 May 2024
- gavindL5830UF0 contributionsTop marks to Tamuka Travel for going beyond expectationsWe had a really good experience with Tamuka Travel, managed by Brighton, who suggested at the outset that we could exchange our planned helicopter flight over Victoria Falls for a full-day safari in Botswana (starting at sunrise), instead a shorter "day". We took up that offer and had the benefit of a morning land safari and an afternoon river safari. That was and is the best time for both - we saw so much wildlife. The day before, we did the Victoria Falls walk with an excellent guide, as part of the normal package. The whole trip was very well organized and the accommodation commodious.Written 23 April 2024
- AgentDC0 contributionsNostalgic fine dining by steam trainA nostalgic dinner harking back to the early 1900s and the era of steam travel. We were collected by car and taken to the train where there was a red carpet and a friendly welcome. After being offered welcome drinks we were invited to sit in the lounge car - comfortable seats and wood decor. The train travelled to the Victoria Falls where we disembarked to see the Falls and the steam train. You have the opportunity to get into the engine cab and toot the whistle. There are several locals selling goods on the bridge. Great views of the Falls at sunset. After getting back on the train we took seats in the dining cars - tables for 2 or 4 people. We left the bridge and stopped for dinner. The dinner was five courses and was hot, tasty, well presented and served by a friendly team. The wine, beers and soft drinks were served on request without extra charges. All the staff gave attentive service. It was a special dining experience. We arrived back at the start point around 9pm.Written 21 April 2024
- regan2020 contributionsAMAZING!! Book this tour!!As a solo female traveler who had never been to Zimbabwe, I was nervous arriving. However, Tamuka Travel (specifically Brighton) made all of my worries go away! This "tour" is more an aggregation of many events. Brighton essentially was my personal driver and liaison for the entirety of my 4-day trip, and connected me with great people who I knew I could trust because of his stamp of approval. It was nice having everything booked in one place but being able to see and do everything that I wanted to in the Falls area. Upon arrival, he explained to me that there was some flexibility within my booking. Many of the hotels he works with had availability, so he gave me the choice for which one best fit the experience I was looking for (I ended up at the N1). Day 1 included airport pick up and a sunset river cruise with other travelers (light snacks and drinks included). Day 2 included a morning tour of the falls (He gave me a choice on timing - I ended up paying $25 to upgrade to a sunrise tour, which was awesome!), a helicopter trip, and an afternoon tour of the Livingstone Museum in Zambia (I also got some excellent curios from the markets on both sides of the falls). It was nice to see the town on that side. Day 3 included the day trip to Chobe in Botswana (morning game drive on land, buffet lunch at a nice hotel, and afternoon game drive on a boat to see more of the water sights), and Day 4 was when Brighton brought me back to the airport. Brighton stayed communicative with me throughout, and made sure I was brought to the right people for each activity. I also had some free time on Day 2 so decided to do the Gorge Swing, which he brought me to. Included in the booking were 2 lunches (days 2 and 3 - on day 2 Brighton asked me where I wanted to go, Day 3 was part of the safari) and 1 breakfast (Day 2). He gave great recommendations for my other meals around the area. Highly recommend this booking, especially for solo travelers.Written 26 March 2024

Overall it was a great experience. Recommended
We picked up at the hotel on the Zimbabwe side. There were two other people with us. We had to wait about 40 minutes at immigration in Zambia, but everything else was smooth. Since we were alone, we were asked to pay an extra $10 for the transfer, but that's okay. Make sure to get your Gaza visa in advance.
The view from the pool was amazing, and the guide took lots of photos and videos with his experienced hands.
It's still cold in the morning on July 30th, so it's best to go as late as possible. The water is still cold even then.
Devil's Pool itself is not yet ready to go, but we went to another pool with an edge where we can take photos. Either way it was very good.
The view from the breakfast area was also beautiful and wonderful. Satisfied.

The highlight of our African trip. Although devil's pool was closed, Angel pool was as good if not better. Unlike Devil's pool which requires swimming to the pool, you can literally walk to Angel pool, which is also right next to the fall. It's an exhilarating and scary experience, perhaps nowhere on earth alike. The guides we're totally professional, guiding us to the edge and shot pictures for us individually. I recommend the small group tour so you have more time to take incredible photos. Our next group was a standard group so they couldn't take many photos individually. The pool is small with quite strong current, so it felt quite scary when you were there.
Highly, highly recommended.

After arriving at the information centre, we were taken by jet boat to Livingstone Island. Here, we saw the sheer grandeur of the falls before proceeding to the pool. We were guided every second, every step of the way to the pool. After entering, we were warned of some small fish that may nibble on us and told not to panic. The two guides encouraged us to sit upon the rock ledge as well as pose, while one took the pictures and the other holder our legs. The rush over the falls near the Devil’s Pool was calm. After our experience, we were guided back for break mid on the island. The meals were light, but extra tasty. While being fared back to the information centre, we saw some more animals relaxing in the water. It was a fantastic experience.

The actual experience was honestly unforgettable and amazing but the customer service gave less to be desired. I hadchosen a 7:30am time slot so id know i would have enough time to get back for my airport transfer. The guy picking me up first told me 6:30 so i got up at 6then 7:30 which then i was annoyed moreso cuz i could have slept inbut then it took him until about 8:30 to get there.by the time we got to the tour i was experiencing anxiety about missing my airport transfer. Luckily the tour is only about an hour and a half and i got back by before 1 which my transfer was 1:30pm but i booked it that early to avoid that anxiety in the first place! It seemed like they just lunped all the people doing it into one transfer and the other people booked it at 9am. As i said i had a great time at the tour and im glad i got back in time but i rated it 3 stars for lack of punctuality.

We had an amazing experience. Everyone was lovely and caring.
Just be aware if you stay on the Zimbabwean side, you will have to cross the border to go on the Zambian side. Check with the operator and at the airport, ask either for a tourist visa or a 2-entry one or else you will pay twice for the entry in Zim.

Fantastic activity. Brighton from Tamuka picked us up and arranged all the border crossing and admin very well. It was straightforward to get to Zambia.
The tour itself was amazing. The falls are magnificent and it is exhilarating to lie on the edge of them and watch millions of litres of water falling around you and peer into mist 100m below.
It's not for the nervous but that being said it is safe, with ropes to help in the water and 2 people holding you at all times (although I still don't think they'd let you do it in the UK 😂).
The breakfast was tasty with great views of the falls on the island. Green Safari who ran the island part were great

We had booked this tour and sat eagerly awaiting our pick up at our hotel reception which was due to be at 12:30. At 12:37 I received a call to say they had decided to cancel the trip and would no longer be taking us because they didn’t have enough people on the trip to make it cost effective. Such appalling service as we wasted our day waiting to attend the tour and when we asked them to rectify the issue they just kept trying to reschedule us for a day we were flying out of Victoria falls. Shocking customer service and we are still waiting on our refund. It completely ruined the last day of our holiday!
I wouldn’t bother booking with them as theres no guarantee they will actually pick you up or run the tour! You’re better off going to Zambia yourself and scheduling a tour with another guide!

This is such a unique experience that can't be replicated anywhere else. The group were great at communicating expectations with us about pickup and shuttle across the better from Zimbabwe to Zambia. We felt completely safe the entire time and the water was refreshing, but not freezing, at such an early hour. Definitely a memory for life.

This was a great experience and the guides took plenty of pictures and kept me safe. The food was great. On the other hand the prices seem quite high for no particular reason and I had to pay $60 for another covid test since it had been more than 2 days since I arrived in Zimbabwe. The $20 taxi for a very short ride is kind of ridiculous. I would still recommend because it's a unique experience.

Thank you for the review and honest feedback we really appreciate that. Just to clarify on the transfer I believe you understood the transfer is done by two different vehicles and they all start and end at the border return transfers which was done to reduce the cost of paying customs fees if the vehicle crosses the border. You then realize in your case the two vehicles and two driver were paid $20 as you were the only person and both vehicles will wait only for you to take you back as soon as you finish the tour with the driver guides to help you when ever you need help. For the covid it is up to the health ministry to put in place the restrictions and conditions to enter and exit the country so the $60 is for the health ministry and to enter Zimbabwe you must have a 48 hour valid PCR test as you bought one upon your arrival day and we are really sorry as this is beyond our control. But above all we appreciate you booking with us and thank you once again for an honest review which helps us produce the best service in future

Hi folks, thanks for the great reviews of the Devils Pool tour.. Can you tell me about the Zam/Zim visa you mentioned making it easier to cross. I see there's no visa required for US citizens - is the one you mentioned an option even though it's not required?
Written 16 July 2023
You can get the Kaza visa, which allows multiple entry to Zim/Zam. You won't need a visa to enter Zambia on the bridge, it's just to get back into Zim.

If I choose the 'Morning Breezer with Breakfast' time slot, will I be back to my hotel by 11am? I have a flight to catch at 2pm and I need enough time to shower and checkout of my hotel. What time does it depart and end? Will I have enough time?

Hi, is there a preferable time of the day to go—morning vs lunch vs afternoon?
Written 16 December 2019
There is no much difference between morning slots and afternoon slots. The only difference is that the morning slot provides breakfast and afternoon slots provide lunch and high tea, as well as the prices, are different. Apart from that, the experience is just the same.

Can you pick up the tourists in a hotel in Livingstone ...Ngoma Zanga Lodge for example?
Written 20 November 2019
I am not a tour operator. They usually pick up from hotels and backpackers
Written 21 November 2019
Do you need to purchase your visa in advance or can you buy on the day?
Written 1 November 2019
Hi, you can buy on the day. If you are crossing into Zimbabwe before, you can buy Kaza visa, which allows you to go to Zambia for a day (like a trip to Devil's Pool) and go back to Zimbabwe. It costs $50. Normally visa to Zambia costs $20 and then you need to buy another visa to reenter Zimbabwe (which is $30).
