Experienced Operator with Decades of Desert Experience
We (groups six pax) did a 14 day fly/drive safari to Ounianga Lakes; Ennedi; Bachikele; the Ouadi Rime Ouadi Archim Faunal Reserve; and Zakouma with Eyte. I had also traveled with SVS Tchad 18 months ago for the Gerewol festival and can therefore compare these two Italian run operators. Both have decades of experience in the region and offer a safe and professional trip over difficult terrain. Eyte provides bigger tents and a bed and mattress rather than having to sleep on the floor. They both provide a shower and toilet tent--Eyte erected this every day even when we were moving. SVS only erected this at the fixed camps where we stayed more than a night, but you use the bush and get just a small bowl of water to wash while staying at mobile camps. So in terms of comfort, Eyte was better. Both provide good meals--especially considering the remoteness-- but vegetarians will need to talk to the cook about adding more protein and less carbs. Our group felt there wasn't enough meat to eat and we had to supplement that. Also, we found the Eyte breakfasts insufficient--hard boiled eggs; one slice of salami and one slice of cheese and bread. They did provide crepes after we complained though which were lovely. SVS offers cooked eggs, muesli and bread for breakfast so a bit more substantial. Both offer similar itineraries and drive in non air-conditioned 4 WDs. Both speak French well and English less well. The main difference is that SVS' guides are based in Italy and Adolfo, the owner of Eyte, is married to a Chadian and based in N'Djamena. Also, SVS can call on several Italian guides to lead expeditions, whereas Adolfo is a one man band. SVS is also better organized. You won't get forgotten at the airport for example. As other reviewers note, when Adolfo is there to supervise, things go well. When he is not there, some of his team members take advantage of his absence to cut corners and don't provide the expected level of service. Both SVS and Eyte are very well connected in Chad and will provide you with some breathtaking scenery/experiences.

        Excellent Experience with Eyte Voyages
A friend and I (both US passports) traveled with Eyte Voyages in Chad and would recommend them to others. The owner of the company, Adolfo, was great at responding to our questions via email and WhatsApp. His dominant language is Italian but he corresponded with us in English and was able to quickly create a customized itinerary based on our timeframe and interests. - Visa Support: Adolfo provided our letters of invitation and we sent our passports to the Chad embassy in Washington DC. Adolfo also took care of all permits and registered our trip with the police when we arrived. Registration is required within 72 hours of arrival. - Hotel & Airport Transfers: Adolfo suggested a few hotels in N'Djamena and managed everything from making the reservations to ensuring airport transfers. - Itinerary: Day 1 was a city tour of N'Djamena, including the national museum, and a trip to Gaoui. This was easy and straightforward. It was helpful to have a local guide in Gaoui to negotiate the fees. Day 2 was a day trip to Elephant Rock, which is about 3.5 hours one way on roads of varied quality. Most of the way was paved, but it was a bumpy and dusty ride that required a 4x4. There's not a lot to do in this area except to see the rock, but it was a good day trip to see an area outside of the city.  - Guide: Our guide was great. He was friendly, spoke fluent English, and was very reasonable with photo opportunities. He explained general rules, like don't take photos of government buildings, etc., but never hovered over us. He had just returned from taking a group to the north for 21 days and used to work as a guide at Zakouma National Park, so he knows the country well. Overall, this trip was a great introduction to Chad. We felt safe with Adolfo and his team, the itinerary went exactly as planned, and the planning process itself was easy. I would definitely travel with them again when in Chad.

        Easy little day trip
A modest little trip, just out of town into a what feels like a typical if well-established village. The little museum and old architecture is funky and a good reminder of the development of a rich civilisation prior to colonialism. But it's only a couple of buildings. Walking around the village is fun. The women make household and decorative pottery which you are welcomed in to see being made and can buy. Be ready for everyone to ask for a little tip, even though Eyte has already paid whatever is strictly required. So, good to bring along i) some small change (lots of 500 XAF notes), ii) some water to drink, and iii) hand sanitizer. Eyte themselves were excellent. Good communication starting from the day before. On time, decent 4WD vehicle. Knew well the people and the area, and a lot else about Chad. Just made things easy and safe.

        A highlight of the country
A highlight and a must see for every tourist to the capital city. It was right from leaving my hotel a truly adventure gaining insight the true life in this remote country. Alfredo did a good job in driving on this uneven and dusty road. After stopping on the elephant rock we visited a local village, which was a very unique experience.

        Very interesting place
A very unique and special place which gave me a glimpse of a very different ethnic group. The English of my guide was very good and I gained a lot of background information.

Good trip but marred by incompetent guides
The trip itself is excellent. The boss of the company Adolfo Guasti is professional and good. However some of his staff are truly incompetent and stupid, They da not not follow the itinerary and they themselves shortened the trip by themselves by one day I happened to to take take one of their trips to Ennedi, The guides themselves shortened the trip by one day. I had to spend another USD 200 dollars in Ndjamena because of this. So before going on a trip with EYTE Tours make it clear to Adolfo that the guides should follow the itinerary as advertised.

Best National Park and Safari Lodge in Central Africa
A drive of over 450 miles in one day (150 of them on dirt roads) from the capital N’Djamena to south central Chad to this remote national park gave a taste of the real Africa with few tourists. However, the dust and bumpy roads and long hours in our convoy of SUVs was worth it! The road enters the national park and after over 10 miles of acacia scrub, we arrive at a clean, spacious and airy safari camp of a main restaurant-lounge area and a series of rondavel huts of 12 rooms across the central clearing. The rooms and beds are spacious, with freshly starched sheets (mosquito nets are obligatory) and the food in the central eatery is varied, plentiful and tasty - in fact, a pleasant surprise in the middle of nowhere!! The camp is run by a friendly and very welcoming French family, who earnestly want every visitor to have a memorable experience out in the wilds. The camp run game drives from three large Toyota off-road vehicles with banked seats for an excellent view of the wildlife. Game drives at dawn, late afternoon, and night last for several hours each and cover all kinds of habitats in the park. The variety of wildlife is surprisingly varied - elephant, giraffes (a rare sub-species), buffalo and a wide range of antelope are also accompanied by a richness of bird species from West Africa. With few visitors, the big game is very unused to people and this makes the spotting and photographing species a more authentic experience than the mass-tourist approach one sees in parts of Kenya and South Africa. All in all, a really memorable experience out in the true wilds of Africa.....

        Realize your Ennedi dream
We booked our tour via a German travel agency ( Diamir) who collaborates with Eyté as local agency. The Eyté team did. a fantastic job: we were a group of 12 tourists ( 3 per Jeep) plus a Jeep with cooks and local guides). The tents were fine, we got good mattresses with a personal cover. And you always got a hand in the mornings / evenings when struggling to pitch / strike the tent. They were experts finding the good Foto stops as well as good places to stay over night. The meals were good as well and we enjoyed joining the team buying stuff on local markets. Talking about Ennedi-Massiv: this was a great experience- the colors , the formations, the dunes, the nomads, the camels etc. All absolutely stunning and worth the many miles traveling from N’Djamena to the desert.
