3 Words: Authentic, Tasty, and Fun!
Let me start by saying, Auntie K is amazing! Her family was there assisting as well, and they really gave us an authentic experience. My group cooked Fufu with chicken soup, Jollof Rice with meat (non meat for the member that is vegan), Kelewele, and mixed vegetables. The food was absolutely delicious! Tasted different fufu since I been here and nothing beats a home cooked meal! Definitely recommend!

      Auntie K ‘s Cooking Class
Today my family and I had the pleasure of having an absolutely amazing meal prepared by Auntie K. She showed us step-by-step, how to prepare chicken, salted fish, rice, plantains, etc and it turned out absolutely delicious with just the right amount of spice and flavor. Auntie K’a two helpers were very engaged in helping with the meal and showed us warmth and kindness. It felt like going over to our real aunt to have a family meal. We want Auntie K to prepare all our meals from now on…

      Ghana Personified
Auntie K's cooking class was one of the most memorable highlights of the trip. She was generous, kind, open, and patient with each and every one of us in the group. The food was the best I had during my trip and I can't imagine returning without taking a class every single time. I have shared my experience with anyone who asks me about my trip to Ghana and my hope is that many others have the honor of taking her class and eating her food as well! Thank you, Auntie!

      AMAZING time at Aunty K’s!!
Auntie K’s cooking class was easily one of my top 3 experiences in Ghana. Auntie K is a great instructor—funny, personable, and she’s a great host! She also made sure to be very considerate of everyone’s dietary preferences (how she remembered our nuances was beyond me!). We enjoyed our food so much that she packaged it for us to go. Our group bonded over this experience, and Aunty K and her wonderful family became like our own. They even made multiple trips to make sure we could buy the seasonings and spices she used to cook our food. We had a BLAST and are still talking about this experience. There is at least one other cooking class that cost less, but you will get so much more for your money with Aunty K. Book your class today. You will be so glad you did.

This is a wholistic experience from cooking to vibing with newfound family members. Reading other reviews I gathered the gist of this experience, you will cook some dishes. What I did not expect was how welcoming and down the earth the experience would be for us. Auntie K is very welcoming, has a genuine spirit, and loved showing us how to make a meal. Days prior to our meeting, Auntie K connected with me to ask what dishes we wanted to make and was very responsive when I asked questions. When we arrived the ingredients were bought and on the table, ready for us to turn them into a delicious soup, jollof rice, kelewele, and fufu.

The area was clean-a station for hand washing was onsite and available throughout our session and each ingredient was washed as we prepared our dishes. Auntie K also made sure bottled water was used for one of the dishes to ensure, as tourists we wouldn’t get sick.

The style of cooking reminded me of cooking with my family-lots of laughs, conversation, and tips. My friend, Monique, and I gravitated towards our favorite dishes Monique being fond of jollof rice and me intrigued by fufu, Auntie K guided us with each dish by having us taste where appropriate to make sure the seasoning is correct and demonstrating various traditional tools to blend spices and make fufu for us to use. There was a lot to cook and 6 hands wouldn’t be enough. Deborah, Auntie K’s assistant, was so helpful during our time by blending chopped veggies, getting the cooking “stoves” ready for use, and so much more. Once it was all done, we sat together and shared the meal. We continued conversations and exclaimed about the delicious food we prepared.

You will not be disappointed in choosing Auntie K’s cooking class. As Monique and I reflected on this experience, it was a highlight of our trip.

All we want to ensure is to have tourists turn into family through Ghana meals and always KEEP GHANA IN THEIR HEART! We take hygiene seriously and you will always live with something you can't learn of Youtube. Lakeitha and Monique!!! You ladies were amazing, the respect towards our ways, the joy in your eyes when you learn a new trick in the meal preparation, your facial expressions when you tasted what you cooked was some of our best highlights with you. Come back soon PLEASE!!!

Ghanaian food is not just a cuisine, it’s an experience. Auntie K gives you both. My daughters and I spent the morning cooking with Auntie K, helped by her beautiful daughters. It will be one of the most cherished memories of our trip to Ghana.

Auntie K asked us what we wanted to cook. We told her we wanted traditional food - but light on the spice. She gave us exactly what we asked for.

We started by going to the market. Because it was Sunday, we went to a smallish one. The variety of vegetables, fruits, smoked fish - amazing.

Back at her house, we made kele wele, jollof rice, grilled chicken, cabbage and carrots and konton mire. Ok, “we” is a stretch. Auntie K humored us by letting us do some basic tasks, but mostly we watched in awe and enjoyed in bliss.

The food was unbelievable. Watching her cook that entire meal over three braziers in her courtyard was to witness an artist in perfection of her craft.

Auntie is warm, funny and just plain wonderful. I regret that I have only 5 stars to give.

I thoroughly enjoyed my cooking class with Auntie K. She asked me beforehand if I had any allergies or if there was something in particular I wanted to learn to make. I love that I could ask her to teach me something particular. She and her assistants walked me through each step of making our dishes for the day, which included kelewele (spicy fried plaintain), kontomire with dried fish, jollof rice, grilled chicken and sauteed vegetables. Auntie K is a great teacher and also gave me substitutes for the ingredients in case I was unable to find them once I got back to the states. She gave a really good class.

Our favorite part of the experience with auntiek was the market shopping and the entire food preparation.
We cooked together as a group as auntie k assigned roles for all of us to ensure we had something to do in an engaging way. Her kitchen isn’t a modern style kitchen but we were proud to go through the local way of cooking and that was special!
Additionally we did learn some twi and ga lessons on the day from the family.

We felt like a part of the family as soon as we arrived at auntie k home. Thank you Osu Cooking Class!

Traditional Ghanaian cooking demonstration. Auntie Kay cooked multiple dishes all over charcoal and ALL delicious! The demonstration is on the patio of her private home, outside and under shade. Five hours is a long time for me but it was worth it

My experience with Auntie K cooking in her home was relaxing and informative. I learned a lot by observing and asking questions about each dish that was being prepared. The final dishes turned out incredible and I was well fed by the time I left with a take home plate. Looking forward to trying to make these dishes when I get home!

I would highly, highly recommend this experience if you’re interested in cooking and eating authentic, delicious Ghanaian food. Auntie K was kind enough to shop for us, so all we had to do was arrive and help her cook our meal (goat stew, fufu, jollof rice, plantain, and grilled chicken). Everything was cooked from scratch and absolutely delicious — some of the best food we’ve had on our trip so far. Auntie K and her daughter were very warm, hospitable, and patient. We learned lots and would not hesitate to come again!

I had such a great time with Auntie K in her cooking class. She took us through how to prepare the famous Ghana Jollof with Chicken and kelewele(fried spiced plantain) and it was so delicious. We also made abele walls which is how popsicles are called in Ghana. It was so creamy and yummy! Thank you for the wonderful experience Aunty K and the time at the market.
