Ethical Whale Watching & experiences for a lifetime
We were lucky to observe a female sperm whale but unfortunately our tour was the only boat there which respected the whale and didn’t jump into the water. Was very sad to see so many people getting so close to the whale and even touching it at times. Then we were able to get in the water with dolphins which was truly the most amazing experience and I can highly recommend booking this tour with Dolswim! The boat was also super comfortable, we weren’t many people on ours luckily and our captain Vince was really good

Responsible whale watching and dolphin experience + snorkeling
Went in mid october. The tour starts early, but that is for a reason. Had a clear instructions before the trip. We had 2 skippers, both were very professional. We were lucky, whales were spotted after 1 hr of searching. And then we spotted them a couple of more times. It is illegal no swim with whales, however a lot of people from other boats do that. I hope that Mauritius government will introduce hefty fines for them and will control it better. The swimmers were scaring the whales away... Then we did spot quite a lot of dolphins groups and there was a chance to snorkel with them, but, it was pretty busy from other boats, so was a bit chaotic. Finally, arrived at the Coral reef, where it was very silent, only 2 boats, so we had a great snorkel experience there. Trip took a bit shorter than planned, because we were lucky to find all the creatures quick, but everyone was asked whether that is okay. Overall, very nice, responsible, seen the great creatures. I wish that other boats and people would have the same level of responsibility. The only drawback - the boarding location has no toilet.

      Great trip, worth every penny
We had a great crew, saw sperm whales and then spinner dolphins, and could swim with dolphins, then a snorkel at the reef, with beautiful fishes. Great trip. I would recommend.

      Fantastic experience with great crew
We did a private boat trip with bbq. We had a great experience with DolSwim the crew were very informative and respectful to the animals. They were really patient, unlike some other boats around, and we were lucky enough to see Whales as well as dolphins. The BBQ on the boat was fantastic with loads of well cooked food. Communication prior to our trip was quick and very helpful.

Thai Tonga is the BEST. Forget the rest!
I was lucky enough to find Thai Tonga and went with them for a couple of days whale watching/swimming. They were very responsive to all my emails and questions. They only run with 8 guests, which is perfect! Thai Tonga is on time, well prepared, and did their best to make my tour with them absolutely incredible. They provided fruit, cake and a yummy sandwhich for lunch. There is not enough words to accurately describe how wonderful this company is. I would give them 100 stars if possible!

      Great experience and great guides!
The trip was very nice and a great experience to watch tge Dolphins and Spermwhales out in the ocean. The tour was well organized and safe. Pascal and Julian our guides on the boat were very friendly, knowledgable and sensitive and respectful to the keep distance to the animals. They did share interesting facts and information on Dolphins and whales. Overall well worth the money and would recommend to anyone. One side note on the whale watch; There were many boats out there with people jumping into the water to get close to the whales even tried to touch them (hate to say this but mostly chinese tourists). Despite a law that forbids to swim with the whales as they are very shy creatures - mostly mothers with baby whales, it appears nobody cares about that and allows numerous groups to ‘hunt’ them in the waters with big underwater cameras. Bad side of human recklessness towards nature. Would be great if there was more restrictive enforcement by the local authorities to maintain a species that is very rare and threatened to be more and more reduced in population!

Simply the Best and most ethical tour
A fabulous trip even if the weather wasn’t great for us. Some magical moments seeing a baby sperm whale and, at another point, its mother. Great to be able to see these majestic animals and also a pod of spinner dolphins. The law means that we have to be respectful of these wonderful creatures and DolSwim was exactly that. A very knowledgable skipper who knew just where to be and to maneuver his boat without upsetting the animals as well as being highly respectful of all the laws. A great trip with the best company out there.

      Once in a lifetime experience!
The trip really was a once in a lifetime experience, we saw plenty of dolphins and were able to get into the water and swim with them. We were also lucky enough to see whales and got so close to them but did not swim with them. Just cruising alongside them in the boat was breathtaking. The skipper and guides were so friendly and knowledgeable and really looked after everyone on the boat, making sure everyone got a chance to see and swim with the dolphins. This was the highlight of our trip and I would highly recommend this tour!!

      Whale encounter
It was a breathtaking expression to see a whale so close to your boat. Usually they do not surface or are found in deeper ocean during summer months..but i thank viator for arranging such a wonderful trip.. Dolphins are everywhere but jumping in water to swim with them is a foolish idea..

      Dolphins and whales encounter experience
We highly recommend Dolswim for a hassle-free 'Dolphins and Whales Encounter'experience. Everything from the booking to the boat ride ran smoothly. The staff Fletcher and Julien were very professional and knowledgeable. We learned about the different whales and dolphins species. We felt very safe on board with them. We appreciated the briefing before the start of the trip. They abided by all the safety rules. Wearing lifejackets on board and whilst swimming with the dolphins was compulsory. The snorkelling spot they brought us to was pristine and crystal clear- perfect to admire the fish. Overall, we enjoyed our first encounter with the whales.

Don’t hesitate to book - Dolswim are fantastic.
The skipper Stewart and his watcher Sidney were fantastic. Dolswim are safety conscious, care about the welfare of the animals whilst also ensuring we had a great experience. They explained why they keep their distance which proves they are much more concerned about the animals than some of the other boat trips that we saw out on the sea. We had many opportunities to get in the water with the dolphins and spent a lot of time watching them play. We had time to snorkel around the coral and see some beautiful fish. There was no rush for this to end, infact I had swam enough and got out and Sidney reassured me I could stay in longer if I wanted to. We then took the trip out to where the Whales might be. Again our expectations were managed and told there was only 60% chance of seeing them. Well they certainly came to show, we saw 2 big tail flips and 3 other whales cruising along. It was certainly an exceptional experience. Sidney and Stewart were mindful of the Whales and how to not cause them distress, unlike another boat who allowed the passengers to get in the water nearby. Overall we couldn’t have had a better trip. Dolswim are certainly the company to use for being much more mindful and caring do these beautiful creatures.

Respect and Protect the Dophines and Whales! We did just that!
This tour with Dolswim was absolut fantastic! The boat captain Clovis and his spotter Conrad were amazing in the way how they showed us the animals. After we received a brief safety and info summary, we went off to search….and we were lucky that we could find both sperm whales and humpback whales. Furthermore we went to see spinner dolphins. Clovis kept a respectful distance so the whales and dolphins so that no animal was in distress or disturbed…..something you can not say to the competition. They almost drove over the animals, chasing them like a fox hunt. I'm happy we had chosen the right boat trip where we learnt about our swimming friends and remained respectful and protective to them. Thanks!

      Swim with wild dolphins!
Pascal and Vic were great guides! They were very knowledgeable about the dolphins and respected them. It was very easy to find a pod of spinner dolphins. It was an experience of a lifetime! My wife was able to swim with her favorite animals in the wild. The visibility wasn’t the greatest but we were still able to see many dolphins both above and below the surface

I had never seen whales before so this was a big deal for me, when we got on the boat they told us it was a 65% chance we’d see the whales. Within 15 minutes of heading out to sea we were so lucky to stumble across 4 sperm whales! 3 females with a baby, we also then saw another 3 doing their deep dives and jumps out the water, we couldn’t believe our luck.

The guides new exactly where to look to see the big splashes of the sperm whales and were really knowledgable about the animals and their behaviours which I really enjoyed. The guides made every effort to give us a close look, and help get everyone’s pictures taken, and the experience was just so peaceful too. It’s amazing to see these animals in their own habitat, not coerced by anything to be there, I 100% recommend this trip!

We waiting for a few days for this trip and fortunately the weather cleared by the last day of our short 4 days trip where we went about an hour into deep sea and found one Sperm whale, later another, then 3 of them swimming together.
It was truly an Amazing experience to see these magnificent animals in front of our eyes and to be able to swim close to 10 meters away from them. The team followed these whales and we could spot them come up to blow air around 6 to 7 times. We left only after we were all exhausted and completely satisfied with the sights we saw. :-)

We had an amazing time watching these gentle giants in the sea, we were blessed to see two mum and calf through our tour, Dolswim company was excellent but the Mauritius tourism board are not, the Mauritius tourism board do nothing to protect these animals as everyone a whale surfaced there were swimmers in the water with them which hindered our experience in enjoying these giants in their own territory.
Dolswim is an excellent company who maintained the upmost responsibility to the environment allowed the whales distance as well, they did not disturb them at all.
Our skipper Conrad and first mate Vicky were both extremely knowledgeable and made our excursion amazing.

This whale watching experience was the highlight of our holiday. We have had similar trips in California and Iceland but seen very little, on this trip we lost count of the number of whales that we saw and so close.
Dolswim are a very professional and ethical company, from the lifejackets to be worn by all participants and the safety briefing before setting off to the way that they identify where the whales will be and gently cruise up to see them with as little intrusion as possible. It is illegal to swim with whales in Mauritius but other companies were doing this, thankfully the Dolswim team left them to it and headed elsewhere.
I can’t recommend this experience highly enough

We left on the advice of the receptionist at our hotel, since we were in the north and whale watching is done in the southeast, so we left at 6:30 in the morning. This is not surprising knowing the difficulty there is on the Mauritian roads. However, we were not able to know the weather forecast for the day due to the early hour. Arriving there, around twenty people were waiting for the boats and we boarded in Flic en Flac towards Le Morne.
We all got into fast outboard type boats in the pouring rain and then it was truly hell!! We were shaken, beaten, soaked in sea water and rain. My husband, who is very tall and weighs more than 90 kg, was lifted up and then fell suddenly back into the boat, each wave crashing. The people in the boat were screaming intermittently. All this to see in 2 hours a whale's back about 500 m away! I particularly regret this unnecessary outing which should have been postponed to a later date to at least go out in good weather! We paid €150 for the day with a barbecue at lunchtime! Limit scam, avoid or get enough information to avoid this kind of experience!!!!

We were incredibly fortunate to find a mother humpback whale and her calf just outside the reef only twenty minutes into our three-hour trip.

Captains Ronaldo and Fletcher impressed us with how cautious and respectful they were towards the animals. The same could not be said for all the local skippers.

They used their network of contacts to find the whales and made sure our boat did not cause them stress while getting us close enough to enjoy a truly magical encounter.

After lots of time - and lots of pictures - with the whales, they located a pod of spinner dolphins along the coast. We spent the rest of our trip surrounded by gregarious animals before heading for port enthralled by what we'd seen.

Fantastic trip, once in a lifetime. The guys from Dolswim are very respectful of the animals and keep their distance unlike another speedboat out there at the same time - which was not only chasing them but then people were stupidly diving in and trying to swim with them. Every time they did this the whales would dive and disappear for a while.

The guys drove our boat very slowly (so as not to scare the whales) around the area looking out for them and eventually it was like the whales trusted our boat and actually kept popping up close to us and swimming very close to our boat along side us for ages without diving down. (until the other moronic boat would turn up and scare them away)

It was an absolutely amazing experience. If only all the tour operators were as good and respectful.

    Cannot recommend enough.

Very professional company that we picked because it said that they would be mindful of animal welfare, which they were. Our hosts on the boat were friendly and approachable and wanted us to have a great time. We were very lucky (with the skill from the staff) to see Spinner Dolphins and several sperm whales - amazing! Riding in the speedboat was great fun.

Excellent trip, from the out start they said the chances of seeing the whales was 50/50 which is a fair enough statement.. But wow we ended up being very fortunate.. we managed to see Sperm Whales swimming, diving and breaching and dolphins just having fun.. I could not fault it.

First of all, you had problems finding a parking space in the narrow back alley. Then you were taken to a pickup truck and given a life jacket from the loading area. When my wife asked about a toilet, she was told there was one on the boat. Unfortunately, this was not the case. During the briefing, the most important thing was that you don't get your money back if you don't see any whales and that the skipper can end the trip at any time if he thinks it is appropriate. The local sailors should actually know whether they can sail or not. We sped back and forth across the sea in the roughest of waves and were lucky that no one was injured. The wild trip ended after about 1 hour instead of 2.5 hours, of course without seeing any whales but with back pain. Strangely, the next participants were already ready.
