About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- notanexpert0 contributionsTasty, informative and funGreat fun, really informative and great street food, we particularly liked the pickled vegetables. Rudy was great fun and knew his stuff, we learned loads about the food history and general history of Mauritius and Port Louis. Would 100% recommend. Thanks Rudy for a great tour!Written 29 October 2024
- Glyn M0 contributionsThis is the tour to bookIf you do any trip in Mauritius this is the one Christopher how tour guide was amazing so full of knowledge and a love for his country it was a pleasure walk with him on the tour. He went well above the tour we booked with little extras. The tour and the food are excellent we had food I would have never looked at and were shown parts of the capital I would never had gone too Christopher is an amazing guide and I feel lucky to have had him. Not only does he take you to amazing food but he explains the origins of the dish so you understand their importance to the Mauritius culture All I can say is he is a credit to the business and thank you so much Christopher for an amazing dayWritten 30 September 2024
- BromFoodie20140 contributionsTour and food on the goGood tour guide, very informative about Port Louis. Unfortunately think the food offered was very underwhelming apart from the roti . I’m sure Port Louis has better street food to offer and for the money you should get a lot more variety. Tour advertised as 3 hours, just about managed 2.5 hours.Written 27 September 2024
- jfairer0 contributionsFull flavour or Port LouisGreat guide, who was knowledgeable and fun. Tried lots of different food and got to see places in Port Louis we would never have found on our own.Written 25 September 2024
- barbaran5680 contributionsBrilliant tourOn our stay in Mauritius we did the Chinatown and port Louis tour. It was absolutely fantastic. Ashvin our guide was so funny ,informative and made the whole experience so enjoyable. The food was interesting and good quality and especially the meal at the Chinese restaurant . all in all would highly recommend this tour, especially if you can manage to get to Ashvin as your guideWritten 22 September 2024
- eloises8060 contributionsBrilliant!Such a brilliant tour! Our tour guide Christopher was brilliant and incredibly knowledgable about the history of Mauritius. We learnt so much about the culture, food and wildlife. He was incredibly welcoming and answered all our questions with rich stories and engaging detail. The food was wonderful and really gave us a flavour of the different cultural backgrounds of Mauritius. A must do if you want to learn about the Island and enjoy delicious food. We will be back again when we are next in Mauritius. Thank you Christopher!Written 8 September 2024
- 248phillippas0 contributionsWowWhat a great food tour, with loads of history about Mauritius thrown in as well. Ruddy our food tour guide took us to some amazing places to try traditional cuisine, all was thoroughly delicious. Amongst all the food my favourite was the roti’s and delicious milkshake drink. As a chef himself Ruddy was really able to break down the different flavours we were trying. It was also amazing walking around Port Louis with someone who could point out the best bits to see, whether it was statues, beautiful buildings or a 3d manga art street the tour really was a memorable experience.Written 3 September 2024
- CCLocke0 contributionsA must-do if you want to learn about Mauritian history, culture, and foodPort Louis is a small, crowded city so I was wondering how we would navigate as a group. It turns out the tour has been impeccably planned. Our guide, Rudy, found pockets of quiet spaces where we could all gather while he told us about the history of the place and we tasted the street food. Excellently designed tour, and Rudy was amazing. He has a great sense of humor, a booming voice that makes it easy to hear him above the street noise, and he was always aware of where everybody was, waiting for people if necessary and making sure we could all see and hear him. This is much more than a food tour - we learned a lot about the history and culture of Mauritius while also tasting the food. What a great way to learn about the island!Written 30 August 2024
- Bowls21210 contributionsGood tour around Port LouisTried a variety of authentic food while still getting to hear some of the history of the place which was really interesting. It was limited to a small amount of people which was good and I guide was so friendly- he even rang our taxi for us and spoke to him in French to arrange where to collect us which was so kind! A lovely half day trip out!Written 28 August 2024
- Jiri P0 contributionsPerfect start of your stay at MauritiusGreat opportunity to explore the downtown with local guide and taste typical local food. You will learn about Mauritius more than reading any tour guide book.Written 16 August 2024
- samanthai5660 contributionsExcellent tourTaste Buddies give a truly authentic experience of life in Mauritius and the tour with Ashvin was excellent. We started the day with a short drive to a local Tamil temple which was beautiful. The next stop was a vanilla farm where fruits and vegetables were grown. We tasted some home grown snacks and their exceptional jam. The tour guide there was informative and lovely and was really passionate about her job. We then travelled back to Flacq for the walking tour which included a dholl puri, chicken and then an excellent shared curry meal. The amount of food was perfect and a visit to Flacq market finished off a brilliant day. We were so impressed that we booked another tour in Port Louis for later in the holiday.Written 7 August 2024
- teddyewing0 contributionsGreat tastes and historical tales! The Port-Louis Street Food tour was great! Each item tasted was full of local flavor and the history to go along with it! I got in at least 5,000 steps and had an experience I would not have otherwise had without the tour and the great tour guide. There was more history to the tour than I planned for, but each detali given gave more insight to the varying tastes and all around history of Mauritius.Written 21 July 2024
- D9754KGkirstya0 contributionsGreat experience - would highly recommendWe were really impressed with the food tour and the guide, who was very knowledgeable about the history of Mauritius. The size of the group was perfect (with only 8 people max). We had 6 food stops with a variety of different cuisines, including a dessert and sugar cane juice stop. We liked that the tour was in the old town so it was more authentic - rather than being in the tourist side of Port Louis. It was great to see the artwork in China town. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience the culture of Mauritius.Written 29 June 2024
- PineConesWA0 contributionsPort Louis street food tour- worthwhileGreat tour of Port Louis with Rudy our knowledgeable host. You don't need breakfast with this 3hour+ tour, learning a little about the rich history and culture of Mauritius and Port Louis and the multicultural mix that makes up the population. Very informative, great food and plenty to see. Well worth it.Written 25 June 2024
- Nolwandle A0 contributionsAll the yums!Such a great experience exploring all the local foods in an authentic way. They clearly know how to pick the best spots because all the places we went to had queues of people waiting to order! All the food was freshly made and simply delicious. Our guide Aidan was so knowledgeable and friendly too!Written 10 June 2024

The food walking tour of Mahebourg was truly a great experience. The guides were well versed in the city history and the food culture. The boat on the river was a highlight. The 'everything crochet' shop coffee and banana beignets were outstanding. Definitely recommend.

This food tour was a fantastic experience! We've been in Mauritius for a while now and had not had the opportunity to really discover local, tasty, mouthwatering and original Mauritian food. The very first dish we ate was called a Marvel (Merveille) - and that was exactly it. We even bought some at the end to take home with us. Our guides were enthusiastic, interesting, and shared a lot of insider knowledge with us. We're looking forward to doing the Port Louis tour soon. Whether you're feeling adventurous (ask for the spicy tour?) or want to discover Mauritius from the culinary point of view, this is a great way to do it.

Very interesting and tasty tour in Mahebourg with a small group (6 people). This was a good mix between history, town tour and typical food. We went to 5 places, all quite different from one another, and tasted both small snack and meals. The guide was really friendly and attentive to all the guests.

We expected small taste bites but we were fed amazing food in quality and quantity. Loved the history and especially the boat trip up the river. Our guides were knowledgeable and fun, but most of all caring as we are elderly. We are definitely going to do all the other tours. Thanks Adrien and Dada.

This tour is a must-do if you want to immerse into the Mauritian culinary world and culture. Adrien not only introduced us to some very tasty dishes and snacks that we would not have encountered by just going to Mauritian restaurants but was also very knowledgable of Mauritius and particularly Mahebourg's history. It was a very interesting and also fun experience with a very friendly guide.

A great tour with a friendly setup. Dada ensured we had a great balance of history and Mauritian knowledge, as well as a lot of lovely food (I agree with another reviewer that said don’t eat breakfast!). A lovely way to see Mahebourg and a few spots we would never have come across without the tour. Thank you!

Informative and tasty street food tour with 2 nice guides (Adrien, Dada), typical asian food (i.a. stir fried noodles, peking duck, bao burger, sesame balls), short visit of a local market
all in all it is worthwhile, however, it would be interesting to taste some less familiar chinese dishes
