About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- sebastianwF4625PI0 contributionsVery interesting tour !The tour was very informative and great. Guide Ibrahim taught us a lot about the island and its culture. The travel time to the individual places was really short. He was always super friendly and was always able to answer all of our questions. On this tour you experience agriculture and culture up close. The best part was visiting the tea plantation where you could see the entire tea production process. The food was also delicious and the portions were okay. The only downside is that you unfortunately don't get to see how the rum is made. You only have the opportunity to try it and buy it. Otherwise the tour is really great and recommendable!Written 15 September 2024
- expatsal0 contributionsA little underwhelming.AmThe guide was lovely but the food not overly exciting or interesting and the portions were vast. I would have liked to have learnt more about the items for sale in the market. I have been on some amazing food tours but sadly this wasn’t one of them.Written 2 June 2024
- N4192EFtonyh0 contributionsGood insight into what the locals eat and good historyOur guide was very good with only one minor blemish taking us to a tourist trap at the end of the tour. Apart from that we ate authentic food in several locations all of which was nice. We did get the impression that several of the places we sat down in were not ready for us or knew we were coming but we still enjoyed it. Small group easy to get along with. Worth the experienceWritten 4 May 2024
- Mel C0 contributionsEat, enjoy and learn...Christopher was approachable and very friendly along with accommodating with mobility of others . Ensured our comfort was met. Understood when us and others were getting full. Loved the lead up to the food tasting via museum and park visit.Written 10 April 2024
- Amanda L0 contributionsA day to remember in the Authentic SouthOur driver/guide Ibriham arrive at the port in good time. He was not only a safe driver but also very knowledgeable and patient. He showed us everything we wanted to see and answered all our questions. We had a fantastic day thanks to him!Written 9 January 2024
- Federica D0 contributionsExcellent guide, expensive tourI took the tour of the southwest of the island with Sailen, a prudent driver and a trained and passionate guide. He was kind and punctual in explaining all the highlights to me and thanks to him the tour was very interesting. I thought the tour would last longer, not just 4 hours, since I paid 100€: we didn't visit the boat factory and Black River Gorges so it seemed expensive for what it offered.Written 6 January 2024
- garykE8482GI0 contributionsExcellent tour, get a true taste of MauritiusWould highly recommend the tour, gives a great overview of Port Louis and Mauritius in general. Chris is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Food choices are excellent, definitely go hungry.Written 1 December 2023

- ISothcott0 contributionsSuperb and informative experience. This was an excellent tour! Ibrahim gave us a full history of Mauritius, explaining the multi-cultural population of the island, stopping regularly to show us things of interest that I doubt any other guide would. We stopped for lunch for some delicious Mauritius food before continuing the tour. Ibrahim is a mine of information and facts that made this experience a real highlight of our visit.Written 16 November 2023
- Diane G0 contributionsGreat Food TourThe food tour was very informative and started with a tour of a museum to explain why there are so many food influences in Mauritius. Christopher is really friendly, chatty and knowledgeable and we enjoyed spending time with him. The food was plentiful and varied, from savoury to sweet, snacks, drinks and main courses. The tour visited China town, the Muslim quarter, the traditional food market and the central business district. And Christopher took account of the fact that I prefer less spicy food than my husband so our food was spiced differently. The advice not to have breakfast beforehand is good advice as I was full before we even got to the mains. And everything was delicious. I am taking the receipe for a soup back home as it would be lovely for a UK winter! We chose this tour over one from a large company as the group was a maximum of 6 people - it was just us and Christopher and I wouid definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a fun way of learning about the history and food of Mauritius.Written 5 October 2023
- Cobs240 contributionsRecommendedVery knowledgeable and great guide. Showed us a variety of food to eat and explained everything from the local street marketsWritten 26 September 2023
- sarahmQ6080JT0 contributionsDelicious experienceAn excellent experience! Christopher was a wonderful tour guide, and we learnt so much about Mauritian cuisine and culture during this 3 hour tour. It was wonderful that it was a private tour, so my mom and I could do it at our own pace. Lots of walking and lots of food! Definitely arrive hungry.Written 29 May 2023
- tiao1210 contributionsExcellent comprehensive tourSailen picked us up at our ship and took us to see all the highlights south of Port Louis. He gave an excellent narrative along the way and answered our myriad questions. Every site was well worth seeing and Sailen knew the perfect spots to take the best pictures. He even took us to pick some wild fruit growing along the side of the road. They were called Chinese guava. They were tart but tasty and contain a lot of vitamin C. It was a great six hour trip and ended with a drop off back at our ship. Highly recommend!Written 20 March 2023
- mon_mollova0 contributionsAmazing experience with SamMy husband and I booked an airport pickup transfer with Destination Soleil in March 2023. Carine, whom I was corresponding with, was very easy to communicate with and always responded quickly to my emails. Our flight being delayed by one day, but the driver was well-informed of the delay and waited for us at the airport as agreed. I would like to extend special thanks to Sam - our driver for his exceptional customer service and professionalism. He was very friendly and was telling us interesting facts about Mauritius along our entire journey. The fist things we learnt about the county were from him. Thank you for the amazing service that you offer - for a tourist who visits for the fist time, to feel safe and welcomed means a lot!Written 17 March 2023
- Compass6041300 contributionsDisappointingActually, we booked a two way airport transfer with them. The arrival was no problem and as agreed we paid already for the airport return transfer. The day before our departure I re-confirmed the transfer with destination soleil. However, on the day of departure the car did not show up at the hotel: at 5:30 in the morning on the south end of the island!! I called them at 5:40 and I was told that the driver had a problem and that we should take a taxi. At that time and at the far end of the island it was very difficult to find an alternative transfer. Thanks to the effort of our hotel we were then picked up at 6:20 am by a taxi. My experience: poor service and no communication!Written 22 February 2023
