- nomathembagwendolynn0 contributionsSunday mellow tourThis was sooo amazing, it was a last minute booking for me but the team managed to whisk me into their schedule. Totally recommend the trip to site seeing lovers. Guide Shaka was quite knowledgeable on the History of Namibia and enthusiastic on showing us around. Highlight of the trip was the local market with a taste of Namibian beef strips in some secret spice. Totally loved the experience.Written 2 February 2025
- dianacS7695KK0 contributionsAmazing Namibia trip with Justus - worth experiencing!100% would recommend this trip, with tour guide Justus - he was the best! His truck was well equipped with everything we needed (tents, sleeping bags, kitchenware, food provisions). He was a kind and fun companion, very informative regarding Namibia’s history, culture and nature, but also subtle and very respectful. We managed to see so much and took our time taking so many pictures, especially because Justus was very organized with planning the road trips and meal times. His food is delicious, btw! We even helped with cooking traditional African meals, such as springbok sausages or braai. Overall an amazing experience, would definitely return!Written 20 January 2025
- Nonip780 contributionsAmazing experience, professionally hostedReally amazing experience The guide Chimunya was very professional . Thanks to him and Raymond the driver we had an amazing experience. The accommodation is Sossusvlei was great, beautiful set-up, the food selection where we had breakfast and dinner I can't fault it. I would recommend this trip to my friendsWritten 13 January 2025
- Scenic477794674480 contributionsA friend had said you can see Windhoek in 10 minutes ...The driver came to collect me half an hour late but she had informed me. I was the only one in the minibus; the driver was very pleasant but did not seem very informed. She later told me, when I asked, that she worked in the office and was not a trained guide; that the the other guides were away on a camp. Both of the churches on the tour were closed- Lutheran and Christchurch. The Alte Fest Museum was also closed, she said, since Covid. The Parliament Gardens were also closed. Why is this not in the info online? We stopped outside the History Museum but she said we were not going in. I insisted; why else do you visit a museum? I was keen to educate myself. A guide in the museum would have been helpful but you have to book in advance. I also asked to go to a local art gallery I had spotted; it was a small student exhibition. The 'guide' didn't know if there was a major art gallery in Windhoek. Then we went to the township centre to visit people who make crafts and food. Everyone had left; it was closed. This sounds like a joke but it's true! It was so hot- I could have stayed in with my aircon and pool. The only saving grace was that my guide escorted me through Checkers at peak time on Friday to buy a few things ; she was going to abandon me there but saw the look on my face when I said I didn't know how to get back to the hotel. I phoned the Tour Operator, Lark Tours, on my return; the owner was very contrite and said she would reimburse the full price of my tour. At least. It's about being professional.Written 6 January 2025

Accommodation world class and the guide, Kennedy was absolutely brilliant and deserves much of the credit for the trip’s success.Written 31 December 2024
- alexandratanial20240 contributions7 Day Taste of Namibia Safari with KennedyGreat way to explore the highlights of Namibia. Kennedy was a great guide, attentive to our needs and ensuring everyone had a good time. Also, very knowledgeable and accommodating. The lodges were good, most included a pool which was more than welcome given the heat. Good food selection as well at the lodges. Note that most days have an early start, between 4:30 - 6:30, and lunches will be on the go but nevertheless that didn't take away from the experience.Written 24 December 2024
- dereksZ8429CZ0 contributionsTrip to Skeleton Coast and SossusvleiTruly the trip of a lifetime with Chameleon! Kennedy was our guide and he was absolutely fantastic. Given I was a solo traveler, I wanted to make sure I was in good hands getting around the country, and Chameleon and Kennedy were absolutely wonderful. Very responsive and attentive to needs of the group. Would highly recommend Chameleon and Kennedy to any traveler (solo, friends, families) and to explore Namibia. It’s such a beautiful country.Written 24 December 2024
- Kiwianne750 contributionsGreat scenic tourGreat experience, with a knowledgeable tour guide. The landscape was amazing. We didn't see that many animal species, but it felt like a real safari with wild animals rather than a zoo experience. The hippos were cool to watch!Written 23 December 2024
- sandroplecce0 contributionsAmazing and very well organized small group camping tourIncredible experience! I chose the 12 days Classic Namibia camping tour. Together with 2 other solo travellers, we travelled the length and breadth of Namibia's mere wonders in a 12-person van and slept in individual tents, accompanied by our two fantastic guides Erastus and Ettienne, who, in a very kind, professional and experienced manner, drove, cooked delicious meals, were ready to answer any questions and made sure we were having fun and were on schedule. I can only recommend Chameleon for the splendid organisation. Thank you very much for your valuable help!Written 20 December 2024
- mhpeeters50 contributionsAmazing adventure in beautiful NamibiaThe 12 days camping tour with Chameleon has been an amazing adventure in beautiful Namibia. This tour brings you to all the best highlights of Namibia. Our guide Erastus has done a great job as a driver, a guide and last but not least a great cook. His assistant Etienne was also doing his best to please us helping with everything he could. We were only 3 in total on this tour. We have been pampered throughout the tour. If you want to discover Namibia without any stress, don’t hesitate to choose Chameleon. They offer a variety of options for their toursWritten 19 December 2024
- yhyi06130 contributionsWonderful time in Namibia with the Chameleon SafariThis 3 day Sossusvlei budget camping safari that our guide Johnny led for three days and two nights was beyond expectation. Thanks to Johnny for his hard work from preparing delicious food to setting up tents, it was a pleasant trip in Namibia. And he made the explanation funny and easy to understand with his humorous tone. The chameleon safari program is the best. Yong Ho from KoreaWritten 18 December 2024

- zakm5130 contributionsSeven Days of Pure Northern Namibian MagicAn absolutely spectacular 7-day journey through Northern Namibia that exceeded all expectations! This tour was a perfect blend of wildlife, nature, and cultural experiences. From the incredible game drives at Mt. Etjo and Etosha National Park, where I spotted elephants, rhinos, and countless other species, to the fascinating cultural visit to the Himba Village, every moment was breathtaking. The Skeleton Coast's dramatic landscapes, the massive seal colony at Cape Cross, and the unique lichen fields were highlights that showcased Namibia's incredible diversity. My guides, Simon and Kennedy, were outstanding - knowledgeable, passionate, and attentive, ensuring I didn't miss a single memorable moment. The trip culminated in the charming adventure capital of Swakopmund, offering a perfect mix of relaxation and optional adrenaline activities. For anyone wanting to experience the true essence of Namibia, this tour is an absolute must!Written 13 December 2024
- Herve5110 contributionsGreat Tour of WindhoekThis tour was great to see the main monuments of Windhoek. Shaka (not sure of the spelling) was a wonderful guide and taught us a lot about the history and culture of Namibia. We also got to see Katutura, the township where lots of people live in Windhoek: It was eyes opening. I highly recommend this tour.Written 5 December 2024
- X8777ZVdaliam0 contributionsShort and sweet adventure in the Sesriem desertThis is a great tour for someone like me who wanted to visit the Namib desert but can’t drive and is also on a budget. The days are packed full of activity and you get to see everything you want even though the time is a bit short. Our guide Anton was very attentive and kind, and he managed the group well, ensuring that we kept to our schedule, always had nice food and that we were comfortable. The campsite is nice as well. Great experience!Written 30 November 2024

Josef was our tour guide and he looked after us really well. He knows so much and is very accommodating. His food was unbelievably delicious and he also made a lot of effort to offer the vegetarians something great. Super friendly, really! If I had had more time I would do more tours with him. Value for money is super good! We would have experienced and seen a lot less if we had organized everything ourselves. He also gave us lots of tips for the rest of the trip and he even booked me a camp for the rest of the trip. :) We'd be happy to do it again!

Brilliant experience and our guide Tinashe was awesome. There was a lot of time on the road but it was worth it. First day travelling from Windhoek to Etosha, lunch was prepared for us to eat on route and was more than adequate. We arrived to see Lions, Giraffe, Xebra and so much more. We staying a night in the park in lovely rooms and the waterhole here allowed us to see both Rhino and Elephants. We had an early start after breakfast and saw Rhino again and a Cheetah! We left the park around 3pm and stayed a very short distance away in the amazing Etosha Village. Another early start with a few unexpected problems with the tour bus which our Guide Tinashe handled expertly. Having changed transport we were on our way. We were late arriving at the Himba village due to the earlier issue but it was a great experience regardless. A flat tyre needed to be changed which delayed us further and we arrived in Swakoplund around 11pm, 5hrs later than expected, Tinashe didn’t rest until he found somewhere to feed his hungry travellers.. in the morning after a lovely sleep I left the tour to return back to Windhoek for my flight home, via Walvis Bay and Dune 7 with a different guide who was just as professional and accomdating as Tinashe (really sorry I forget his name). I was well looked after from start to finish by a very professional outfit and whilst there was a lot of time on the road I would not hesitate to recommend this company for all your needs.

I had a wonderful time on this safari led by Gideon. This was my first Safari. I was blown away by the number of animals is able to see. Gideon was a great guide. He was very professional. He was very timely, always maximizing our experience. He made great meals en route. After Etosha, we drove through Damaraland reaching Swakopmund Early enough to relax and walk around town. The following morning, we were offered a half of Walvis:Sandwich Bay (additional cost). All in all, I highly recommend chameleon safaris for your safari adventure in Namibia.

Highly recommend this tour and this tour group, everything was organised really well including the food and accommodation. Gideon, our guide was really good, with great knowledge and sense of humour. I was also very lucky with the group I was with, from across the world and really friendly as I was a solo traveller.

This tour was incredible. It was fast paced but it had to be to see as much as we did. The accommodations were well above expectations and very comfortable. I met some incredible people in our group and we became like a family. Our guide Gregory was great and very knowledgeable and friendly. We saw so many animals in etosha and got to see some beautiful sights on the Skelton coast, Swakopmund, and Walvis Bay. These 4 days went by so fast. Next time I’ll do the longer tour. Will definitely book again. Highly recommended!

Our group of four was picked up by our guide, Daniel, on the way to Etosha National Park. Thirteen strangers spent the next four days on safari. Each day was better than the next. We saw lots and lots of animals. Daniel was a very knowledgeable and fun guide. Let us spend as much time as we wanted taking photos and watching elephants, zebras, giraffes, springbok, oryx, red hartebeest, lions, black rhinos, ostriches, impala, and a large variety of beautiful birds. Food was great and the accommodations were even better. The drive through the Namib desert and onto the Skeleton Coast was educational as Daniel described the way of life of the Himba and Herero people. We had time to stop and purchase necklaces, bracelets, polished rocks, etc. By the time we arrived at the coast, we had all formed the most amazing bonds and knew we would have to stay in touch. In Swakopmund, we all had dinner at the Jetty 1905 Restaurant, right over the Atlantic Ocean. The next morning, it was hard to say goodbye as some were continuing two more days and the rest were returning to Windhoek. We could not have chosen a better company than Chameleon Safaris. A huge Thank You to Daniel!

We booked 4 Days Etosha & Swakopmund Tour with Chameleon Safaris for 3 of us. Our thoughts & experiences can be summarised as below. We made comparisons to other Safari Experiences in Chobe National Park (Botswana) and Kruger National Park (South Africa) since we had been to three National Parks including Etosha National Park (Namibia) within our 2-weeks trip in Africa region.
1. Booking Process
Emgard, Suzie and other team members in the reservation team are prompt and responsive. Thumbs up for the good job in the team. However, there was so much red-tape that customers have to go through (a) To fill up a full page of Booking Form attached with another full page of T&C (b) To go through an extremely lengthy pre-departure information (c) To submit online check-in prior to tour start. It is so tedious and time consuming to go through the whole process. We never go through such lengthy booking process even for tours to Europe and many other countries. I believe such lengthy and cumbersome process can be simplified to improve the customer experience.
2. Safari & Tour Experience
The Game Drive experience at Etosha National Park (Namibia) was very passive like “wait & see” approach. It is unlikely that the wildlife would appear to show themselves out of nowhere, some “search” effort is required which we did not see much from our tour guide (Tinashe). In contrast, our Game Drives at Chobe National Park (Botswana) and Kruger National Park (South Africa) were more exciting, pro-active and the tour guides worked as a team in the National Parks which we could visibly see much effort showed by tour guides that they actively communicated with their peers via phone and would immediately go to the specific spots whenever lions or leopards were spotted. As a result, we had higher chance to see the wildlife closer, yet without affecting the animals. At some point, we could even see the wild animals as close as within the radius of 3-5 meters. On the other hand, Tinashe pointed at the lions which maybe at least 1km away from us. It was ridiculously impossible for us to see it from our naked eyes. While we understand, there are rules and regulations in the park that we could not go beyond the designated areas, we seriously did not see much effort by Tinashe. Although he is knowledgeable and informative, we really wished that more efforts could have been done. Having said that, we did enjoy some parts of the tour, such as the Himba Tribal Village, Flamingo watching at Walvis Bay and some viewing platforms at the waterholes for sunset & wildlife watchings at Etosha National Park which does not require much efforts from the tour guide. To add on, the tour guide who took over the tour and did the flamingo tour plus the transfer from Swakopmund to Windhoek seemed better. At least, we felt that he was trying his best to make our trip more fun and enjoyable.
3. Transport, Accommodation & Food
The vehicle we were on was quite spacious with air-conditioned but the door was malfunction after the first safari game drive which could not be closed and locked properly. This should not be happening especially during the Game Drive that the tourists’ safety might be compromised. The lunch (lunch box in the bus or outdoor picnic) provided was basic but adequate. The accommodation provided on the first day (Halali Resort) at Etosha National Park was basic chalet, but the dinner & breakfast buffets were reasonably good. The second day accommodation (Etosha Village) was excellent with spacious & comfortable rooms, with excellent dinner & breakfast buffets. The last day hotel (A La Mer Hotel) at Swakopmund was good, but the breakfast was underwhelming. Hence, the experience of the accommodation was inconsistent from place to place. More importantly, this is the first tour we came across that drinking water is not provided, not even in all the accommodations. After all, we have paid so much for the tour, I think it’s not too much to provide drinking water to the customers (which is a basic need) instead of getting the customers to buy 5 litre of mineral water at the supermarket which I find it rather “petty” and not-so-good customer experience. Otherwise, just factor in the cost in the tour package instead of creating inconvenience for customers.
Last but not least, we find that the company is full of do’s and dont’s and focus too much on the protocols rather than customer experience. Even the atmosphere during the debriefing on the first day in the office was so stern and serious, felt like a disciplinary briefing in an army camp. Come on!!! We are here for holiday and to have fun. Just be chill and relax instead of being so uptight and tensed up. The rating of 3-star is mainly due to the comparison with other Safari experience we had in Chobe National Park and Kruger National Park. Overall, I think the company and the national park ought to do more to compete with other competitors in the regions in term of customer experience and creating “fun” time instead of being so focused on the protocols. Otherwise, it might lose its edge to the neighbouring competitors who are more chill and relax in providing memorable customer experience.

Thank you for your honest feedback. We value all our clients, including yourself, and your input helps us improve.
We have taken note of your experience inside Etosha National Park and with our guide. We understand that some clients sometimes express concerns about not getting closer to the animals or feeling that the guide does not put in enough effort. However, please note that the guide must adhere to the park's regulations, which prohibit close contact with wild animals for safety reasons. These rules are in place to avoid fines and ensure everyone's safety. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we will discuss this with the guide to enhance our future experience in the future.
Regarding the protocols within Etosha National Park, it is imperative for both clients and guides to adhere to the following guidelines to ensure safety, preserve wildlife, and maintain the park's ecological balance:
Remain in Your Vehicle: Visitors must stay inside their vehicles at all times, except in designated areas. This is crucial for your safety and to prevent disturbances to the wildlife. Exiting your vehicle can result in dangerous encounters with animals and disrupt their natural behaviour.
Observe Speed Limits: The speed limit within the park is generally 60 km/h on main roads and 40 km/h on secondary roads. Adhering to these limits helps prevent accidents involving wildlife and ensures a safe environment for all visitors. Speeding can result in fines and harm to animals that may unexpectedly cross the road.
No Feeding or Disturbing Wildlife: Feeding animals is strictly prohibited as it can alter their natural feeding habits and make them dependent on human food, which can be harmful. Additionally, avoid making loud noises, playing music, or using drones, as these actions can disturb the animals and cause unnecessary stress.
By following these protocols, we can protect both our clients and the wildlife, ensuring a unique and safe experience within Etosha National Park. It is important to remember that Etosha is unique in Africa, offering distinct experiences compared to other national parks, which may have different regulations.
Regarding your concerns about water provision, we do provide tap water, as stated in our pre-departure information. Offering mineral water to everyone can be challenging due to potential misuse and varying preferences. However, we will reassess this and see if we can provide mineral water in the future.
As for accommodation, we appreciate your suggestions about having water in the rooms. We will forward your review to the property management to consider improvements. We have a longstanding relationship with this property and value our clients' feedback.
Concerning transportation, the doors are not damaged; they may appear so due to the terrain's impact. Nevertheless, we will work on installing stronger locks to ensure better security.
We wish you safe travels to your upcoming destinations. Thank you for your overall review; we are committed to making improvements based on your feedback. Again, thank you.
Warm regards

The best way to experience Namibia! Chameleon gave us the most serious, professional and exceptional experience driving around in Namibia.
Our guide/driver, Daniel was the perfect guide. Great storyteller, driver, cook and even mechanic - this guy can do anything! Always a smile on his face. He made the experience even better!!
I would most definitely recommend anyone doing a guided tour in Namibia to use Chameleon Safaris. Very good value for the price and the experience was as smooth as it can get. Cheers
