          Goree island
Omar and his team are the best guide tours you'll get in Dakar! I highly recommend them. Goree Island is worth visiting, a history lesson for all.

          Goree Island Half Day Tour
Really excellent tour on all fronts from start to finish! Oumar was absolutely professional at all times with great punctuality and excellent English. He tailored our trip to avoid the longest queues for the ferry and was an exceptional source of information through out the day. He made such a difficult history and story engaging and was able to answer every question we had about not just Goree but Dakar and Senegal in general. An incredibly knowagable man who also appears to know half of Dakar!, with people greeting him warmly every where we went. Even on the trip back to the hotel he pointed out lots of areas of interest. If you get the opportunity to engage Oumars services don't miss it!

          Great Time!
Abdul was my tour guide to Goree Island and the City tour. I do not think I could have had it any better. He was very knowledgeable, very much interested in getting you to know the stories and passionate about everything. You could see he tells the stories from his heart. I 100% recommend.

An Excellent Day out in Goree Island and Dakar
I can thoroughly recommend Senegal Odyssey Tours when in Senegal. We are a family of 4 (2 older boys aged 19 and 17), we knew we wanted to see Goree Island and some of Dakar whilst in Senegal and Oumar was able to plan an excellent day out for us. He picked us up from our hotel which was an hours drive outside of Dakar and not on the pickup list, and offered us a full day. In the morning it was Goree Island where Oumar was an extremely knowledgable guide and showed us the most important sites within the slave trade history with sensitivity and gravitas. We had a lot to pack in so we kept an eye on the time to make sure we caught the right ferry back to the main land. Then it was a traditional Senegalese lunch which we all enjoyed before a tour of Dakar. We saw most locations from the car and it was extremely busy on the roads. We toured on a Friday and it was Ramandan so many of the roads were congested due to the mosques being so full that prayers were happening in the street and the schools were all closing early! We had time to see the African Renaissance Statue which was very impressive. My son is very interested in the Paris Dakar rally, so Oumar also packed in a stop at the lake where the rally finish line is. It was quite out of the way so we appreciated them taking us. We stopped at a service station on the way back to the hotel as I felt that Oumar and the driver (Samba) should take a break and break their fast (I checked the times), they had been with us for 12 hours at that point! We were safely delivered back to our hotel after a full day. But it was well executed and planned and the car was very comfortable. Oumar is a fluent English speaker and answered lots of questions that we had about all areas of life in Senegal and beyond. If you're in Senegal definitely go with this company for your day out.

This tour was beyond incredible. Oumar was a phenomenal guide who went above and beyond during the tour -- and after. Not only did he show me around Goree Island and share his encyclopedic knowledge on a variety of topics, but he also gave me a quick tour of Dakar with an equally impressive knowledge of current events in West Africa right after. I can't recommend this tour enough -- especially with Oumar.

          Absolutely amazing team!
While in Dakar we have booked 2 tours: 1. Bandia Réserve, Pink lake and dune driving 2.City your and Gorée Island Oumar (our guide) and Samba (driver) were absolutely exceptional! Oumar passed tons of knowledge about history, traditions and culture of Senegal. He even taught us few useful words in Wolof which we used further on our trip in Casamance région 😁. All we have seen and learnt during 2 days could not be obtained from the typical guide books so we were extremely grateful to Oumar and for safe driving to Samba ❤️🇸🇳 Senegal Nexna Torop 👌🏻!

          Best Dakar experience!
I had a great time on this tour. Ishmael was an excellent guide and so personable and knowledgeable. And the driver, Samba, ferried us about expertly and safely. Couldn't have asked for a better team to explore Dakar with!

          Excellent service and knowledge
First off all. For us who dont speka the best French i would recommend these guys 10/10 times. They picked me up at the airport and drove me to the hotel. I have never gotten so much interesting information about a city/country ever the first couple hours in. Loved it. Oumar the owner came himself to pick me up to educate me on the country. I did a day tour through certain spots in and outside Dakar. The once worth mentioning is The African Renaissance Monument. It`s huge and has an interesting story about how the country was and maybe still is a bit. The next worth visiting on this day trip was Goree. Beautiful place with a horrible history. The guides they use are very good at knowing when to tell things and when to just let you walk around. I ended up using them for driving to Saly, from Saly and to airport again. Always helpful, funny guys who speaks english. If you need guides or help with anything in Dakar area and around these are the once you should use.

          A Tour of Dakar
Our guide Oumar, met us at the cruise dock and escorted us to our waiting bus. Although there was traffic congestion in the port, we managed to get away quickly. We had a driving tour through the city of Dakar with Oumar pointing out different sites such as Independence Square, government buildings, schools, and foreign embassies. We drove outside of the city to see the African Renaissance Monument located on one of the twin hills known as Collines de Mamelles. We had an opportunity to get off the bus, take pictures, and climb the 200+ steps to the base of the monument. After leaving, we drove by the Mosque of the Divinity and stopped on the bluff above for pictures. Our next stop was our Lady of Victories Cathedral, the largest church in Dakar. When we left there, Oumar said we’d be going to the ferry terminal for the ferry ride to Goree Island and to continue the afternoon part of our tour. However, when we arrived, we were informed that there was a mechanical problem with one of the ferries and it was not running; so, we weren’t going to be able to go to the island. Oumar offered us two options: a trip to Pink Lake or return to the ship. We opted for the return. Of course, all of us were disappointed but no more so than Oumar. He was clearly upset by the situation and not being able to share the history of Dakar’s past. The morning part of our tour was very enjoyable and informative. And if I ever return to Dakar, I will definitely book another tour with Oumar.

It was fantastic. Mr. Oumar Kebe was excellent and a walking encyclopedia about the history and historical aspect of Dakar. I was extremely please and I definitely would raise my (proverbial) hat and provide kudos to him. Dr. Michael T. Hamlet

My brother and I travelled from the USA (California) to Senegal for an adventurous vacation. We booked this tour to experience some local culture outside of Dakar. It was an amazing experience! Our guide, Oumar Kebe, was the best!! He spoke perfect English, was friendly, funny and extremely knowledgeable about everything! We felt very safe and experienced amazing Senegalese culture like we hoped for. We drove to the fishing village where we viewed the life of the locals. We saw numerous boats on shore coming and going into the ocean and people dressed in typical colorful clothes collecting and selling fish on the beach. Oumar explained the local life to us very well. We stopped and visited a local market on the way to the pink lake where Oumar took the time to buy some local goods so we could capture some great pictures of the locals. The pink lake was very amazing too. We were able to see the pink hue of the lake and see the locals working to collect the salt and learned about the entire process. After that, we went on a 4x4 ride in the sand dunes and along the gorgeous ocean coastline. We went to a beautiful look out point to take pictures. We ended our day with a typical and delicious lunch at a quiet and beautiful resort.
Make sure you take this tour and make sure you request Oumar as your guide! We highly recommend him! We hope to return to Senegal one day for more tours with Oumar!

I highly appreciate your valuable feedback. There is absolutely no better way to make me love my job more than I always do. Such a delight to have had you as guests. My tours have a start time but, they don't end until my clients are happy. That's the definition of who I am as a knowledgeable and professional tour guide.

We just an amazing two days with Oumar Kebe of Senegal Odyssey Tours and his driver, Samba. What a wonderful introduction to Dakar and Senegal they provided. Omar speaks English perfectly thanks to his years spent living in Chicago. Samba was calm, cheerful and always smiling despite terrible traffic in the city.

I am a travel agent and have visited more than 80 countries. The Kayar fishing village is unique among all the places I've ever been. It is a "can't miss" experience. You'll see hundreds of colorful boats on the beach and hordes of men and woman rushing to off-load, buy and clean the fishermen's catch. If you don't watch carefully, the waves will wash up over your shoes as they did on mine.

Next we were off to the Pink Lake where, sadly, it was too windy to go out. But Omar gave us a complete explanation of the salt harvesting and drying process, and then led us on fun, fast paced dune buggy ride along a nearly deserted beach and took us to lunch at a lovely little hotel, where we had huge plates of Senegal's renowned chicken and onion dish.

It was long drive to and from the sights, but the drive was an experience in itself -- seeing stall overflowing with vegetable, horse-drawn carts boys hanging off the backs of local "buses" and a booming construction economy.

Don't miss going on a tour with Omar and getting to know the "real" Senegal and also take the City and Goree Island tour which I will review separately.
