Francis was a great tour guide who made sure we had correctly sized bikes before even arriving in Uganda. He also assisted with a pickup/drop off from our hotel for a very reasonable price.

The ride itself was excellent and provided a great experience of seeing small family and village life. The trails went through tropical fruit plantations and had some great downhill speed areas. It was a wonderful experience with the added touch being a short boat ride across Lake Victoria to start the ride.

Highly recommend this trip and for those wanting more, longer or multi day bike ride tours are also available.

The tour starts from the shore of Lake Victoria and runs through the off-road stretches between local villages. The ride is very relaxing as you watch the locals go about their daily lives. At the same time, there are some exciting downhills throughout the ride, making it a very satisfying experience.

This trip starts after a short boat ride from Kampala to a nearby peninsula. The duration of the trip felt just right. Long enough to see a lot of animals and scenery and enjoy the calmness of the area, but not so long as to be tiring. The bikes are modern and well maintained. They have disc brakes, front suspension with optional lockout, 27,5” wheels with off-road tyres and well adjusted gears. The route is scenic, alternating between dirt roads and trails. The topography of the route is such that it should not be a problem for any healthy person to do the trip. Our guide (Francis) did a good job and communicated well after we made the booking. All in all it was a very nice experience and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoy cycling or just want to get a break from the noise and pollution of Kampala.

Well what a morning! Superb, fun, relaxing! Mr Francis Kizza, our guide, was patient, helpful and just downright amazing. My son Caelan, wasnt feeling well...we canceled initially, but then he brightened up...and off we went. Francis accommodated all the randomness of bringing a teen along. I'm very humbled at his kindness. The chap that made our rolex showed me how to cook them. They were yummy! We has a wonderful morning! So much fun! Dont hesitate peeps, you wont be disoppointed! 6 ⭐ if i could!

We had a good time but there was a bit of a disconnect between expectations and reality. This wasn’t for beginners...I was expecting dirt roads but not having to navigate tiny foot paths barreling down hills my first time. It was stressful.

There were no snacks and no options for lunch so by the time we made it back to our hotel around 130 pm we were starving.

Great chance to get out of Kampala!

Dear Jessica, First of all our apologies for not being able to give you the best bike experience we are aiming for. It's our goal to make sure you will have a fantastic ride and really enjoy the environment and all the beauty that Uganda has to offer. We clearly didn't succeed in doing that. I have discussed with the guide who was cycling with you and he told me he had tried his best to avoid steep climbs and challenging single tracks. He acknowledged that he should have shortened the trip in order to fit it to your exact needs. However he felt that he was afraid of letting the other participants down if he would do that. I have discussed this issue with him to make sure he will take the right decision next time. We understand that this doesn't help you in any way and has spoilt your first impression of Uganda per bicycle. We would love to show you that we do offer the best biking experience in Uganda which is suitable for any type of cyclist. Please let me know if you are around so we can set up a new trip for you. Thanks for being honest to us. it helps to improve our services.

We did a 3-hour Biketour with Francis. It was very easy to get in touch with Red Dirt via whatsapp to organize the tour. The nature and environment was amazing. Francis is very calm, not talking much-we expected some stops and explanations about the farming, the people and the environment. We only had one planned stop and he did only talk to us for promoting his own business and trying to convince us to go with him to the national parks. That was very disappointing as we've had bikingtours that were very educating and exciting to get to know country and people.

Dear Jennifer, thank you very much for your constructive feedback. Clearly this is something that we need to improve on. I will have a disciplinary talk to Francis about this in order to make our tours better!

This trip was outstanding! Francis was a very attentive leader and let us go at our own pace.
The nature scenery was beautiful and the people are very friendly. Tons of cute kids greeting you along the way and places to stop for food and water. We rode about 15 miles. All in all a very fun and memorable experience.

While in Kampala looking for things to do while Waiting to go on a medical mission trip. Found red dirt on the web . I do a lot of biking at home so the ride was good for me. I called some days earlier and they would work around my schedule to get my ride in. Very accommodating and no pressure to sign as I was not sure of my schedule yet. My guide Francis picked me up at the motel. Went to the island and started biking. Stopped for a Rolex. My favorite Francis was very accommodating for breaks and stopping for pictures Great bicycle. No issues at all Can’t wait for my next red dirt adventure.

Wonderful taste of Uganda ride. My guide Francis was excellent--heloful and informative. Route was great, bike was good, Rolex and drink were just right. Will be muddy if after recent rain. Add the boat ride and you have a unique experience!

Wonderful trip to the peninsula of Kampala. The somewhat rocky/muddy roads are easily accessible, but also have some nice downhill fun! Francis, our guide was very nice and took the levels of the whole group into account. On the trip you make a soda and a rolex stop. Oh and don’t forget sunscreen, even if the forecast says rain. You’ll regret it, trust us!

Haha, great review! In Uganda you never know how the weather will be, so always bring sunscreen and a raincoat (although the rain is nice and warm)
