About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 806less0 contributionsUnforgetable UgandaComing to Uganda on business I just had to take the time to see the fantastic wildlife in Uganda. I found a perfect trip with Friendly Gorillas Safaris, a 4 day safari including Queen Elizabeth NP and Bwindi NP. We stated from Kampala and got to Queen Elizabeth NP on the first day starting with the boat tour of the Kazinga channel where we saw a great variety of wildlife and birds including Hippos and Buffalo as well as Water Bucks, African Eagles and Permanent Vultures. We then continued to safari in the park and saw a male Lion and Leopard as well as a Savil Cat, Kobs, Pumbas and others - the Big 4 on Day 1!!! After a pleasant stay overnight we went the Kalizu NP and trekked in to see the Chimpanzees. They were amazing, very active and LOTs of them including babies. We then tuned south to the Bwindi NP and stayed overnight at the Ride 4 a Woman lodge, a great initiative by and for African women. The Gorilla trekking was awesome, we met with a group of 11 that were very friendly and tolerant of our presence, a once in a lifetime experience. We then travelled though the Bwindi Impenetrable NP to Lake Bunyonyi for a boat cruise and over night stay, very relaxing at the African Tent Resort, very friendly, good food and a great fireside chat, before returning to Kampala This was a fantastic journey and delivered more than hoped for. My driver Eddie was awesome in his knowledge, help and guidance throughout the journey and more of a friend than just a driver – TOTALLY recommended. I hope to return to Uganda and do a lot more as there is so much more to experience. Thoroughly recommend Friendly Gorilla Safaris – 5 stars!!!!!Written 1 September 2024

- PatR3730 contributionsRobbed ! Tour itself was very good but I was charged twice and company refuse to reimburse.Unfortunately, quite a while after doing this review, I found out that I had been charged twice on the same day - so an overcharge of $676. Despite months of communications and sending the bank statement (see attached) showing this quite clearly (no subsequent refund shown on any later statement) I was just strung along and received zero satisfaction, acceptance of what had happened or any reimbursement. Please avoid using this company to save yourself a similar experience. I have however left the review of my actual experience as the guide and tour were both faultless: Fantastic tour guide in Eddie who works exceptionally hard. Being solo meant a premium cost-wise so, naturally, if there are two of you it becomes more economical. For whatever reason, I was the only one on the tour as the other two intended didn't seem to make it. I am very grateful for that not least because they could have just cancelled on that basis. Unfortunately, as stated at the top here, I never realised that I had, in fact, been charged twice and have been unable to obtain either refund or acceptance of what happened after months of fruitless communications by e-mail and whats app !! I had come from Ngorongoro two days before and this was in a different league. Where the former had gazillions of tourists in many, many vehicles and very little prime wildlife to see, hardly anyone was here and game was abundant thanks to my guides contacts with rangers and his own expertise. Lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalo and to mention that the tour includes a generous stop-off en-route at the Ziwa white rhino sanctuary and, of course, the falls. He ensured there were multiple impromptu stop-off's too as species popped up. The overnight accommodation at the Hornbill Lodge was lovely - great staff, lovely en-suite room and nice food. Entebbe pick-up and drop-off was included too. Be aware that Eddie turns up well ahead of schedule so, if you have his contact, you can get going sooner if desired and also save him traffic hassle. There is a boat trip possibility (extra cost) outside the park at the new bridge but need to ask for in advance to tie with departures.Written 22 May 2024

- lindseet20220 contributionsAmazing ExperienceWe had an amazing experience with the Friendly Gorillas tour company. We were able to trek with gorillas and chimpanzees, stayed at amazing places, ate delicious food, and met amazing people along the way. Our tour guide, Noah, was excellent and knowledgeable and made the experience unforgettable. I highly recommend this company to anyone interested in exploring East Africa. It was a truly magical experience!Written 6 April 2024
- dawnaI9659EN0 contributionsTrip of a lifetimeThis company was very receptive to all our questions and concerns in a timely manner. There was a 10 hour difference so keep that in mind. The entire team listened to our concerns and wants. They were extremely accommodating even for those with food sensitivity. While on the trip they continued to check in . Bliss and Anthony were easy to communicate and made this experience the best ever. We chose the budget package and it was awesome. Only 2 places/ lodging I would change but overall they just made the experience more unique and memorable. Definitely would use them again. We visited Tanzania 6 days, Kenya 2 days and Uganda 5 days. We saw so much culture and almost all the animals.Written 3 April 2024
- bliss2560 contributionsHighly recommendedHighly recommended. I had a wonderful experience on my visit to Serengeti and Ngorongoro in Tanzania. The team especially Anthony was really helpful in planning my trip. The lodges he chose for my adventure were amazing especially karatu camp lodge and Africa Safari Ikoma. It was amazing seeing animals right next to our tents. It was specially enticing listening to the animals in the night 😊. Anthony was really easy to communicate to during the trip and he kept checking in to make sure everything went as planned.Written 23 March 2024

- haleym6620 contributionsFantastic trip to UgandaJust finished 5 day tour of Uganda with Friendly Gorilla Safaris. The trip was fantastic. For the price ( cheap compared to many others) the trip was better than others who paid more. Two of three hotels were a lot better than expected. Our guide, Noah was excellent. He had a lot of knowledge and was catering the trip to our needs. They helped make this a trip of a lifetime.Written 12 February 2024
- ataliaa20190 contributionsBeautiful experience great guide!Great value for money we had so much fun! Our guide Noah was the best! So friendly and really went above and beyond to make sure we are happy and even arranged activities not part of the original itinerary just because we mentioned it in a conversation:) really recommend!Written 11 February 2024
- OnAir6418010 contributionsGrest tour for the value!Great trip if you are on a budget. Went with a girlfriend. Gorillas were amazing. Our tour guide Tony was top notch. Friendly Gorilla Tours was very organized and professional. Just make sure you take new money USD - 2017 or newer with no writing or tears on the money. Uganda is picky about excepting USD and you have to oay for your Gorilla $750 permit in cash.Written 29 January 2024
