About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Glo8060 contributionsGain a sense of the city!Fatumah was an excellent guide. I felt comfortable with her immediately! She helped me negotiate the traffic and crowds as she shared the history and culture of Kampala. We visited monuments, markets, and houses of worship. The "organized chaos" would have been too much for me to manage on my own. I say this as a person who travels a lot and goes to NYC frequently. Go with Fatumah, you will not be disappointed!Written 11 December 2024
- Resort208151262300 contributionsWalking tour KampalaWe had a wonderful experience with Fatumah. She showed us all the highlights of the city, including the beautiful markets, and told us about many really interesting historical/cultural aspects. Super recommended experience and super knowledgeable guide!Written 9 September 2024
- W9021UBclaudiaa0 contributionsTrue Kampala experience!I was the only tour participant with Fatumah! It was great. I particularly enjoyed visiting East Africa's biggest mosque at the end of the tour with her.Written 30 April 2024
- miriamlV3822XO0 contributionsGreat tour!It was truly a great tour! I learned a lot about this amazing city from the knowledgeable and charming Fatumah who guided us. Thank You!Written 26 October 2023

- emilykZ8742SH0 contributionsBeautiful and fun tour of Kampala on foot!Fatumah was an absolute amazing guide! We spent the day together touring some of the most popular spots in Kampala! Traveling on my own I have struggled to get pictures of myself throughout Uganda and she offered to take many pictures for me! She helped me to navigate the craft market and gain more comfortability exploring Kampala! She even offered to meet me back at the market to gather some more gifts! I highly highly highly recommend this walking tour!Written 30 June 2023
- TrailBlazer7819720 contributionsFatimah is the best!Fatimah was an excellent guide. We felt very comfortable following her through Kampala. She was informative, knowledgeable, and professional. She really made the tour worthwhile!Written 27 June 2023
- I5350BZmaried0 contributionsThis is a must!!!One word: impressive. Fatumah (the guide) has not only an extensive knowledge of the in and outs of Kampala, her passion and love for the city’s history make this one of the best guided tours I have taken. It was a privilege.Written 14 June 2023
- MonaL13550 contributionsKampala on foot in 3 hoursWe really enjoyed our walking tour with Fatumah, her warmth/easy laughter and local knowledge was great. She got in touch by WhatsApp before the tour to confirm time and place of meeting and introduce herself and when she met us she told us what the plan was for the walk upfront - giving us opportunities for drinking and shopping breaks. Given the (beautiful) chaos of Kampala her punctuality, sense of organization and calm was fantastic. We would never have found our way through the maze of markets without her and as a woman I really appreciated another woman showing me the way and looking out for our safety. This was a great way to get a feel for Kampala and Uganda’s history, politics and cuisine. Thank you Fatumah!Written 13 May 2023
- louisebM9777CC0 contributionsDefinitely recommended! Interesting sights and great local guideGreat tour with Fatma! She really had great local knowledge and took us to lots of interesting sights in Kampala, beyond the touristy spots. Definitely recommend!Written 26 April 2023

- Jhuis0 contributionsGreat experienceToday we explored with Rosette of @guidedwalkingtourskampala the city Kampala. She knows all the places to be and it was therefore a very good, relaxed experience. Thanks for the great day!!Written 22 July 2022
- HesterKampala0 contributionsUnforgettable real Kampala-life experience guided by a v kind woman who knows her way around and makes you feel safe.I loved it, highly recommended! Rosette is a very kind, honest, intelligent and helpfull woman, who knows her way around Kampala and made me feel safe. She gave me a private tour, showed and told me about the history and present of Kampala. We saw the independence monument, she took me to fabric shops where they dressed me in three different traditional weddingdresses (extra fee, she told me in advance and didn't impose at all), helped me to buy some fabric for a good price (loved to see her arguing in Luganda to get me a fair price!) showed me the Nakasero Hindu Temple and the colorfull beauty and hardworking women of Nakasero Market where she bought me some very sweet mango's. I invited her for lunch, she knew a place with a good few on the old taxi park, where we shared a dish of typical and very fresh Ugandan vegetables and Tilapiafish from Victoria lake. Finally she took me by Uber tot the Buganda King's Palace, and helped to get me a safe bodaboda to drive me back. The costs on TripAdvisor are confusing: calling it Free Tours and then charging €29,10 (15% tot TripAdvisor). She explained it isn't free anymore because of the difficult Covid time, but the TripAdvisor text wasn't adapted yet. I completely understand (and I tipped her anyway, she fully deserved it and she was very generous with her time) So if you are reading this: don't hesitate any longer! Rosette, thank you for an unforgettable day, the open and serious talks and the laughter we shared. You are such a strong, intelligent and beautifull woman. Tot ziens in Nederland!Written 20 June 2022
- lisarA4752WN0 contributionsA good grasp of Kampala city lifeWe had a nice tour with a good overview of Kampala. Nakasero market and the mosque are a must seen. Rosette is very flexible and made us feel comfortable is the crazy downtown Kampala. She even took us to a traditional African restaurant for lunch break. The only drawback is that you will need to take ubers between different locations, which takes time and triggers additional costs. Otherwise I recommend!Written 12 June 2022
- rebeccaaZ5185KS0 contributionsGreat city tourWe had a great afternoon with Rosette on our Kampala city tour. We felt we got a good taste of Kampala through seeing historical sites as well as local markets. Rosette was both fun and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend to anyone who is visiting Kampala!Written 1 May 2022

Shared a wonderful day of cooking Ugandan food with two lovely hosts. With a lot of helpful suggestions I eventually learned how to peel matooke correctly and watched how to steam it in matooke leaves! Rosette made a delicious butternut soup. The goat stew was really good as was the groundnut sauce for the matooke. A mango salad and mashed Irish potatoes completed the meal. The cooking and the eating together was filled with lots of talk, laughter and sharing of culture.

I purchased a the cooking tour via Trip Advisor. The activity clearly stated it was for 6h and would include lunch and dinner.
After purchase, the guide then texted me that the ingredients were not included and my portion of the ingredients costs would an additional 100,000 ugx ($27 USD). This was not stated anywhere on the activity description.
Out of caution, I then double checked the details and was told that the activity would only be "3-4 hours latest" and now would only include lunch.
Good thing I took the initiative to confirm the details before hand. If not, it would have been really awkward.
The guide did not offer a refund. I had to go through Trip Advisor.
Twice the price and half the service - definitely a bait and switch!

Mr.Yun,we apologize for the inconveniences that had happened. It is our fault that we did not clearly state that the amount paid is the guide fee and shopping for the food to taste is at your cost.As we train our guides to communicate to their guests before the start of the tour what they are expected to move with, the dos and don'ts during the tour is when we got to know that the itinerary was not detailed explaining all the extra costs to incur.Through our guide Fatumah,we got to know that it was our fault not to clearly indicate what the guest is expected to have in his or her paid tour.
The other thing of lunch and dinner, we had set that the tour should start at midday and the food cooked to be eaten as both lunch and dinner unfortunately your booking stated 10:00am which means you would only go for lunch and incase you want to pack the dinner, there is that option. We clarified on that issue and hope to give the best experience. We humbly apologize for the inconvenience.
