About
Annapurna Circuit trek with Tilicho Lake and Poon Hill takes us to the world’s highest lake in the Manang District of Nepal. The first part of the trail is that of the Annapurna circuit. However, from Manang we go to the mail valley to the west and trek up to the Tilicho Lake. Our trail again joins the Annapurna circuit route and crosses the Thorong La pass, one of the highest passes in the world. We also climb up to Poon Hill famous for its spectacular views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. On our 20-day journey we pass through forests, cross pristine meadows, experience the change in vegetation, all the while being in the company of the glorious Himalayas.

- Upon our arrival in the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, we will be greeted by a representative from Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure Represent who will drop us off at our hotel.
- Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation
- Today after breakfast we start a guided tour to several of the most historical and spiritual attractions in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks are considered World Heritage Sites including the historic Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambhunath) and Buddhist shrine (Bouddhanath) which is one of the largest stupas in the world. At noon, there will be a pre-trip discussion where we can meet our trek leader and other team members. Himalayan Glacier briefs us regarding our trek as well as provides us an opportunity to ask any questions we may have regarding our upcoming adventure. Overnight in Kathmandu.
- Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syange (1100m/3608 ft): 8 - 10 hours
- We begin our long drive to Syange early in the morning. En route we get to enjoy the countryside of Nepal with its green hills, winding rivers, terraced farms and of course the mighty Himalayas. Overnight in Syange.
- Day 04: Trek from Syange to Dharapani (1,960m/6,430ft): 7 - 8 hours
- We enter Manang district after crossing a large bridge near Tal. The trail passes through barley, rice and potato fields; and the waterfalls continue to accompany us even today. We also pass through the village of Kodo before reaching Dharapani which is one of the biggest villages in the Manang valley. Overnight in Dharapani.
- Day 05: Dharapani to Chame (2,710m/8,891ft): 5 - 6 hours
- Today we negotiate a few steep forested ridges along with several landslides on route to Chame. We should not forget to look up though, as we will be greeted with remarkable views of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II, and Annapurna IV (7,525m). We also come across small hot springs which should help us relax for a while. Overnight in Chame.
- Day 06: Chame to Pisang (3,300m/10824ft): 5 - 6 hours
- We walk through a steep and narrow valley to have our first view of Paungda Danda rock face, a dramatic curved rock face rising 1500m from the river. From here, we also gain excellent views of Annapurna 2 to the south and Pisang Peak to the north east. Next, we descend to the Manang Valley floor enjoying the captivating landscape. Overnight in Pisang.
- Day 07: Pisang to Manang (3,500m/11,482ft): 6 - 7 hours
- From Pisang there are two routes to Manang. We choose the one which passes through Upper Pisang via Geru as it guarantees outstanding views of Mt. Annapurna, Pisang Peak, and others. As we walk near Manang the climate becomes more cold and dry. However, a short visit to Barge Monastery, the biggest monastery in the Manang District should cheer us up. Overnight in Manang.
- Day 08: Manang: Acclimatization day
- In order to keep fit on the trails that follow, we keep ourselves busy today with a short hike to either Bhojo Gumba or Gangapurna Lake. If we have the energy, we can even hike to Vraga Village where we can visit the Himalayan Rescue Association which will give us some idea about Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Overnight in Manang.
- Day 09: Manang to Siri Kharka (4060m/13,320ft): 4-5 hours
- From Manang we head out through the western gates and follow the path down to the river. We cross the river and continue walking on its southern side through coniferous forest. After reaching Kangsar Village we walk further up towards Siri Kharka and pass a monastery on the way. The uphill walk could be tiring but we will have Gungang Himal and Mt. Chulu in the backdrop to keep us company. Overnight in Siri Kharka.
- Day 10: Siri Kharka to Tilicho Base Camp (4140m/13,583ft): 5-6 hours
- While the path from Siri Kharka to Tilicho Base Camp isn’t very steep or physically strenuous, it could be exhausting as we have to walk on narrow paths in loose scree and landslide area. Our trail goes through the middle of the landslide area whereby we can see impressive rock formations along the trail. Overnight in Tilicho Base Camp.
- Day 11: Visit Tilicho Lake (4,949m/16,138 ft) then back to Siri Kharka: 5-6 hours
- After the initial tough, steep, switch backed ascent, our trail continues to hug the side of the mountain in a gradual to steep incline before reaching the watershed. On the way we enjoy yaks and deer grazing above and below our trail. On the other side is Tilicho Lake, a large spectacularly set lake nestled at the foot of the north face of Tilicho Peak. The lake was reffered to by the leader of the French expedition team as ‘The Great Ice Lake’. The Lake also holds an important place for the Hindus as this sacred lake features in one of the holiest texts of the Hindus, The Ramayan. We retrace our step and return to Siri Kharka. Overnight in Siri Kharka.
- Day 12: Siri kharka to Yak kharka (4040m/13,020ft):4-5 hours
- We leave Siri Kharka and descend towards Khangsar Village. On the way, we pass Tare Gumba, a thousand year old monastery which is very important to the local people. Upon reaching Khangsar Village we realize that it is un-inhabitated except for occasional herders during festival times. We follow a rock wall out of Khangsar. We walk further more until we reach a seasonal bridge in the Thorang Khola valley. After crossing the river, we ascend for a while to a plateau. Next, walk furthermore until reaching Yak Kharka. Overnight in Yak Kharka.
- Day 13: Yak kharka to Thorang Phedi: (4420m/14501ft): 3-4 hours
- It is an uphill walk to Thorang Phedi. After walking for some time we cross a suspension bridge and reach Ledar village. We ascend furthermore and pass through towering cliffs before reaching Thorang Phedi, the last village before Thorong La. On this trip we are rewarded with one of the best views of Mt. Gundang, Mt. Syagang, Thorung Peak and Mt. Khatungkan. Overnight in Thorang Phedi.
- Day 14: Thorong Phedi to Thorong La pass (5416m/17764ft) to Muktinath (3,800/12,467ft): 7 - 8 hours
- Crossing Thorong La pass, one of the highest passes in the world will be our ultimate objective today. We will be crossing the pass from east to west (Manang to Muktinath) which is the easiest and safest direction. We get up around three in the morning and walk up the mountain. When we finally make it to the top, we realize that our journey was worth it. We can take a few photos before heading to Muktinath Valley at the foot of the Thorong La pass. Overnight in Muktinath.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- P578JMmonikam0 contributionsHimalayas with the best Agency i Nepal ❤️Amazing trek and the highest level of support and organisation! ❤️ Me and my husband we visted Himalayas for 2nd time, first we did ACT solo (no guide). We decided to go along Manaslu Circuit Trek this time. It was amazing: weather, views, people in the mountains, our Guide, Karma ❤️❤️❤️, and our Porter, Bupen❤️❤️❤️. The region is slightly different than ACT, the life seems to be more difficult, the goods are transported using mules, but in the end this is one of lifetime adventure even for people who travel a lot to such remote parts of the world. An owner of Agency - Bishnu and his team were very supportive from the very beginning, in planning phase, permits, transportation, and provided us great people to accompany us along the MCT trek. At the farewell in Dharepani, where we decided to continue along the Annapurna Circuit route, it was a bit difficult to say goodbye to Karma 💔 and Bupen 💔. Wondergul guys, and we wish them all the best! 🙏 During our last week, we decided to visit Chitwan, and Bishnu organised for us everything again while we were still trekking in the mountains. It was not a problem, for example, to organize another jeep safari to other part of the jungle, instead of an elephant safari, and he was happy to assist. At the end of our visit of Nepal, Bishnu invited us for farewell dinner in Katmandu. Lastly, we forgot our sleeping bags from the hotel in Kathmandu on the day of departure flight. The Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure agency assisted in sending them back to Europe. We highly recommend these people, as they are honest, competent, and humble at the same time.Written 30 May 2024

Bishnu and his agency were very supportive from the very beginning, in planning phase, permits, transportation, and provided us great people to accompany us along the MCT trek. We had enough flexibility along the trek to adjust tempo, distances, places that we wanted to stay, which is not common, as we've seen in other groups (guides pushing tourists forward independently of i.e. heavy rain). At the farewell in Dharepani, where we decided to continue along the Annapurna Circuit route, it was a bit difficult to say goodbye to Karma and Bupen. - 215vaughanf0 contributionsAbsolutely recommend for small personal tour. Worth the moneyJust back in from a great day out using himalayas sanctuary adventure tours service. What can I say. Bishnu the owner met us at the lobby of our hotel to make sure we got in the right car for the day. Good start. The driver delivered us safely to the chindarayam cable car. There was no pressure to be racing back. It was very relaxed and easy. We organised a time for the pickup. The driver was there smiling exactly where we agreed. They even gave us a complimentary stop off at the.monkey temple on the way home which was unexpected but a great touch as a personal service. Once again there was no pressure or rush. We agreed a time for pickup and return to hotel and all as above went seamlessly. Would I recommend. Absolutely yes. No hidden surprises. No hidden fees. Just great service from a friendly small tour operator. Well done!!Written 22 May 2024
- 410shahilp0 contributionsThrillingWhat a day in Phu Village! While doing the Annapurna Circuit Trek in 2023, I learned about the Nar Phu Valley. When I read about it I couldn't wait to get back to Nepal. Finally, this year I made it back to do the trek! It definitely exceeded my expectations. On our acclimatization day in Phu village, we had such an amazing time sightseeing around and spending time with the local people. The experience taught me to be content with the things that I have. Thank you Kishwor for arranging such a great trip to Nar Phu Valley and special thanks to our guides Dorje & Manga for taking care of us the entire trip. Again, thanks to the Breeze Adventure team for a great trip in Nepal. Looking forward to seeing soon for another trek - maybe Kanchenjunga North Base Camp Trek next time!Written 5 May 2024

- Scenic710810 contributionsAwesome ABC trek - March 2024.The idea of ABC trek started before 2020 and Finally became a reality in March 2024. Three of us who went to engineering school many eons ago picked Bishnu as our guide based on a very good small trek experience one of us had with him on a previous visit to Nepal last year. We had several calls with our tour guide over several months prior to the trek and he answered many questions very honestly that boosted our confidence in him, and we committed to this trek. We were warmly welcomed at Kathmandu airport by our tour guide and team on March 23, 2024. Prior to embarking on the trek, we were briefed on some changes to the daily trek that our tour guide had custom tailored based on our age and abilities. Our tour guide was very attentive to our needs and abilities and made very wise adjustments as we progressed. When it rained and snowed along the way, he guided us through all of it making sure we didn’t fall and get injured on the way. At each stop along the way the team made sure we got our meals before they ate. During the whole 9 days we felt we were part of their. At various overnight stays, we all played card games and really bonded like brothers. We could not have than this trek without his expertise and guidance. I highly recommend this company if you are planning a trek to ABC or any other adventures in Nepal.Written 22 April 2024

- 102gbs0 contributionsAbC - Trek of a lifetime! If you are ever considering a trek in the Himalayas, you should reach out to Bishnu Bhatta of the Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure Pvt. Limited. Three of us, average trekkers who are also seniors, reached out to him because of a very positive experience one of us had. Bishnu took it from there. He tailored the trip to ABC in a way that gave us the confidence that made our trip memorable. We were grateful that he was our guide. He was emotionally in tune with how we felt and knew was needed to do to make the trip a success. He made adjustments as needed. The places he chose for us to stay overnight were very appropriate for our needs. The porters he hired, Bhupen and Bishnu, were a great duo who worked seamlessly with him and us. Looking back, I believe I could not have done it without his meticulous planning and assistance. Safety precautions he took for us bearing in mind our age were truly appreciated! If you are considering a trek in the Himalayas, it will be a blessing to have Bishnu Bhatta and Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure tours on your side! Attached are some memorable pictures we took. - 125enidk0 contributionsIncredible experience, thanks to Third Rock AdventuresWe had a spectacular 15 days with our Third Rock Adventures guide, Surya, and porter, Sanker. There were clear blue skies most mornings, allowing us to view amazing scenery throughout the trek. Surya kept us informed on everything we were looking at, as well as some basic stories from Buddhism and Hinduism, so that we knew more about what we were seeing in the temples and monasteries. He speaks English very well, so we could converse easily, enabling us to learn about Nepal and the Nepalese people. Surya went beyond his guiding role with his interesting lessons, and helping me get through a tough day when I felt unwell. Sanker always greeted us at our teahouses with a big smile and helpful hand. Once again, with the superior Third Rock Adventures staff, I felt like the luckiest client on the trail.Written 3 April 2024
- chinmoyd6990 contributionsExcellent Experience!Bishbu Bhatta proved to be an invaluable asset during our time of urgency. Amidst the rush of our Manaslu Circuit trek, we reached out with limited time to spare. They swiftly organised everything overnight, all at a very reasonable cost. Safety precautions were meticulously taken care of and the trek was a great success. Pitam bhai was an amazing guide. During our trek, an earthquake happened and they contacted our families immediately about our safety to ensure full transparency and support. Thanks bro for everything!Written 23 February 2024

- hirohisas20230 contributionsI highly recommend Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure.First of all, I would like to thank Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure for providing such a wonderful journey. At the age of 72, I wanted to see Mt. Everest for myself. I compared several agents and finally I selected Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure's "Everest Panorama Trek.". My choice paid off. Leaving Japan: October 28, 2023 ~ Return to Japan: November 15, 2023 I. Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure "Quick response" is noteworthy. During business hours, I usually received a response within one hour. Bishnu Bhatta (CEO) was concerned about my health and came to check on me every morning at breakfast while I was in a hotel in Kathmandu. He bought me a SIM so I could contact him anytime, but as the size didn't fit, I couldn't use it. But I was happy with his consideration. Since my flight departed at 11:15 p.m., he negotiated with the hotel to let me use the room free of charge until 9 p.m. II. 8 days Trekking My guide Pancha and the porter Hira were excellent. Pancha walked a little ahead of me and looked back at me frequently, checking my pace and matching me. Hira walked right behind me and I felt like I was being guarded. Pancha prepared a fruit plate after every dinner. I was glad to be able to eat fruit while trekking. I was able to enjoy the view of Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), and Ama Dablam (6856m) from the Everest View Hotel. At the Everest View Hotel, I was tired so Pancha suggested a short route. And thanks to the short route, I made it back to Lukla safely. III. Kathmandu The following activities were held in Kathmandu. All of these were well prepared and everything went well. Meeting at the airport (I received a pretty flower necklace.) Chandragiri Hills sightseeing Nepali dinner while watching Nepali dance Sightseeing to 4 World Heritage Sites Seeing off at the airport (I received a Nepalese hat and scarf. These would be my good memory.) I highly recommend Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure. Hirohisa SuzukiWritten 20 November 2023
- Kathryn Grace T0 contributionsPerfect for Solo Female TravelersI am very pleased with my experience exploring Nepal for a week thanks to Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure. The owner Bishnu Bhatta personally answered all my enquiries in a timely manner even before I came to Nepal. I requested to have a photographer while exploring Kathmandu sights and to experience paragliding while in Pokhara. Bishnu organized and incorporated those requests into my itinerary and they both exceeded my expectations. When I got to Nepal, Bishnu would message me on WhatsApp every day to check on me making sure that everything was going smoothly according to my itinerary. This made me feel secure since I was traveling solo. I was placed in comfortable hotels where I felt safe at all times. I had an amazing personal driver named Bhubi who drove me all over Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Pokhara for a week. He was not only professional but also very kind. He went out of his way to accompany me to sights and take my photos instead of just waiting in the car which I really appreciated. I highly recommend this company to anyone wanting to explore Nepal, you would not regret it.Written 1 November 2023
- Shelleylikestotravel0 contributionsAustralian Base Camp - 5 DayThis is a quick review as I am still travelling and want to write a more detailed one when I get home and have absorbed the amazing trek I just completed with Bishnu and Bhupen (our wonderful porter). Please take this advice and if you are considering a trek you should go through this company (go direct). You will not be disappointed - Bishnu is caring, interested in people, knowledgeable, fun and is rightly proud of his company and ensuring visitors have a wonderful experience. The communication prior to coming to Nepal was comforting, as was meeting Bishnu the evening before. I had a wonderful trek to Australian Base Camp. I am a bit older and the stairs were a challenge but these two gentlemen were considerate and allowed me to go at my pace with absolutely no pressure and without making me feel foolish. I will write another review later about the actual experience (which has been one of the best I’ve had anywhere I’ve travelled). But do not hesitate to use Himalayan Sanctuary Adventure. Photos attached are my own from the trek.Written 16 October 2023
- lukejZ414DJ0 contributionsTrip of a lifetime - 3 passes + EBCWe had the best trip ever. From start to finish it was magical. We did a 10 day Vipassana retreat near Lukla and then Straight into the 3 passes trek and EBC. It took us 12 days trekking total. We are reasonably experienced trekkers - it’s hard but most able people can do this given time. We’d highly recommend leaving around 2-2 and 1/2 weeks to do this option as we had no rest days and was very hard on knees towards the end. We would have taken longer to do it, had we the time. All the local Nepali people on the mountain we met were lovely, generous of spirit and super helpful for anything you ask. They work so hard to give you the best experience and they do it for very little money compared to most places. Please be kind and generous towards them. Prem is a super guy and a proper old school gentleman. Communication is excellent and his advise was invaluable. He arranged and then rearranged all the flights for us and sorted out all the transfers which was a hassle. Weather at Lukla is highly changeable so flights are always uncertain. Super grateful to him and the team for all there help. Thank you again.Written 8 October 2023

The tour is absolutly excellent which is beyond my imagination, even I assumed ACT is one of the Best trekking route in the world before the travelling. The ture picture we hv experienced is Great one, excellent nature view of Himarlanya, snow mountains, like MANASLU PEAK, ANANPURNA, DORGLAGI PEAK, wild annimals, like bluesheep,Yak, Rabbit, kinds of birds, varied plants, like kinds tree, flowers. just amazing trip.. which will be never forgetting in my life.. Those guys arranged whole trip with a nice price, esp appricated a well experiened tour guard for me, who is skilled in guide our trekking speed from Day one, to appropriately make our body to confort with altitude increasing day by day. Only after my trip done crossing Thurong pass at 5416M, I realized we are the lucky one as all others teams who started with us from Day 1 was behind us now. So get professional guide and service provider is really important...
