  • Tribhuvan Airport, Kathmandu Nepal
Additional information
  • Confirmation will be received at time of booking
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • We will be accommodated in Yatri Suites & Spa or Hotel Moonlight or Similar in Kathmandu and teahouses during the trek. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. Single supplement will be served on request and will cost an additional USD 425. Himalayan Glacier will arrange rooms with attached washrooms; however, teahouses in some places only have shared washing and toilet facilities. Also note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and the trekking regions at lower elevation but it might be difficult to find them at higher elevations.
  • During our trek, we can enjoy authentic Nepalese food as well the more common international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). Breakfast and dinner will be served from the teahouse or from a lodge menu where we spend the night whereas lunch will be served on the way to the next destination. All meals will be provided during trekking while only breakfast will be available in Kathmandu. There will also be welcome and farewell dinners for guests.
  • You are likely to walk for 6-7 hours each day over steep hilly terrain on usually rough trails but no real extremes of weather. Moderate trails entail reaching up to 5500m with daily ascends of around 400-700m. You will also be facing high altitude air with low level of oxygen on some days and are therefore required to have a positive attitude and be physically fit. Previous hiking or camping experience is preferable.
  • Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) are the best months for this trip. Although this trip can be taken during winter, the cold temperature might not be suitable for everyone.
  • For this trek there will be one leader, assistant leader (4 trekkers: 1 assistant guide) and Sherpa porters for carrying luggage (2 trekkers: 1 porter). This arrangement ensures that should anybody in the group get sick, the trip can still go ahead as planned. We can run the trek for groups of any size but we after years of experience we have found a maximum of twelve people to be the optimum size for a successful trip. However, if you'd like to book this trip for a larger group then that can be arranged too.
  • Your safety is of paramount concern while traveling with Himalayan Glacier. Please note that your leader has the authority to amend or cancel any part of the itinerary if it is deemed necessary due to safety concerns. Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary; however, since this adventure entails travelling in remote mountainous regions, we cannot guarantee that we will not deviate from it. Weather conditions, health condition of a group member, unexpected natural disasters, etc., can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. The leader will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.
  • Please note that often the Kathmandu-Lukla-Kathmandu flight gets delayed by a few hours or may even be canceled for one, two, or more days due to unfavorable weather conditions. Such conditions may arise even in the best seasons. Hence, in such cases, you must be prepared for long waits either at Kathmandu or Lukla airports, as this can happen either at the start or end of the trek or even both! We will do our best to avoid such delays, and arrange the next flight for you. We also organize Helicopter rescue in such conditions, if it is available and upon request by our clients. The helicopter charges around USD 3500 and it can lift 4-5 persons per flight. Still, we suggest you to be prepared for possible delays/cancellations, and if possible to come with some extra buffer days (1-2 days) at the end of the trip to accommodate such delays. If everything runs smoothly and you still have a few days of your buffer days left then you may even engage yourself in optional activities which can be arranged by Himalayan Glacier upon request. The optional activities may include visiting places/landmarks of your choice, adventure sports, shopping, etc.
  • In case the flight delay/cancellation happens at the start of trip and it goes so long that it disturbs your onward travel schedule, you are free to choose an alternative trip such as a trek in the Annapurna, Langtang, or any other region. If you are not interested in the alternative trip and would rather wait for your original preferred trip, you are welcome to wait in Kathmandu for as many days as it takes to get a flight to Lukla. However, please note that there will be no refund, if you lose time waiting at the airport and do not take an alternative tour or you only do a short trek later due to time limitation. If the cancellation happens before the trip, we will provide you accommodation and lunch in a guesthouse in Kathmandu. In case of the flight delay/cancellation after finishing of the trek, you will be responsible for all your expenses. Please also note that you will not be entitled to any refund for the services (such as hotel, transport, flight, etc.) included in the package that you would not use later.

The trip of a lifetime!
Mar 2020
This was such an incredible experience! It is so difficult to describe just how majestic and breathtaking the Himalayas really are. Every single day of the trek I found myself humbled by the scale and beauty of the mountains.

Himalayan Glacier absolutely outdid themselves in terms of providing us with a trek that was organised, safe, fun, and most importantly, successful in making it up to Everest Base Camp! Our guide Homnath was friendly and knowledgeable, and our porter Bhakta was such a gentle and kind man. They both helped make our trip so easy and special.

I'm so so pleased that I booked this trek through this company. I think it's really important to support the local community by using a guide and Himalayan Glacier provides a comprehensive end-to-end package that gave me total peace of mind through the entire trip (from landing in Kathmandu to leaving to go back to London).

Plan Your EBC Trek. You Won't Regret.
Mar 2019 • Friends
Just return from our EBC trek in early March. The trip is amazing. Starting with full Himalayan scenery view flight in small plane to Lukla, forest trekking to beautiful Namche Bazaar, witnessing serenity in Tengboche monastery, and open land trekking surrounded by giant mountains through the Kumbu valley up to EBC. Not least to mention, fantastic sunset view over Everest from Kalapatthar. Truly memorable.

We took luxury lodge option in Namche (YMH), and we do not regret it. Good shower, comfortable bed, and good food, gave us a good break along the strenuous trek.

Our trek is arranged by Himalayan Glacier. Great accompany. Arrangement is made by Leena, who was supportive and very patient (to our long discussion). Our guide is Bimal, an experience man on that ground. Thank you also to Lok, Fulman, Raj, and Purna.

Bucket List
Oct 2018 • Couples
It's not only about the things that you do, but who you do them with. We chose the Everest Base Camp short trek, and thankfully, we were paired with Kapil as our guide. Without his overwhelming kindness and charm, this trip would not have been the same.

That's not to say anything negative about the trek itself - far from it. It was an incredibly rewarding and beautiful trek. We enjoyed the people we met, the scenery, the food and the experience. Two months later and we are ready to return and take on a bigger challenge.

Where this company stood out was customer service - and that is in large part, thanks to our guide Kapil. He always greeted us with warmth and enthusiasm. He made sure we were taken care of, and would go above and beyond for all of us. He was easy to travel with, and a pleasure to be around for the two weeks that we were in Nepal. He's a truly genuine person, and someone we will never forget. We were lucky to make a friend.

Thank you Kapil!

16 Day Everest Base Camp trek
Oct 2018 • Solo
I did the 16 day trek to Mt. Everest Base Camp in October of 2018 and I cannot say anything but good things about my trekking company, Himalayan Glacier Trekking. My first email contact with HGT was in December of 2017 and up until the time that I flew to Nepal, all of my emails were answered promptly and all of my questions were addressed. HGT partners with a travel agency (Exito Travel) and the travel agency did all the work in finding me flights to my liking. HGT also partners with an insurance company (Travelex) and Travelex made the process of getting appropriate insurance very easy. I was picked up at the airport in Kathmandu on time by our lead guide, Dol. Dol helped me get my American money converted and encouraged me to contact him if I had any problems or questions. The hotel that I stayed at (the Yakti), described by HGT as 3 stars, was at least 4 stars. The trek itself was very difficult for me. Although I am in pretty good physical condition for a 67 year old American male, I struggled mightily and I was unable to keep up with the rest of my team. Once it became obvious that I would not be able to keep up, either Dol or our assistant guide, Dawa, was always with me. I never felt any pressure by either Dol or Dawa to go faster. Both saw that I was struggling and both encouraged me to take my time. I can honestly say that I was very well taken care of by both Dol and Dawa. The HGT website has an itinerary, describing each day of the trip and we followed the itinerary so there were no surprises. We did vary from the itinerary one time and that was to travel further on the first of our three days to get back to Lukla. We did this to avoid an even longer second day. This variation was discussed by Dol with all of us beforehand. Although I like to think that I would have made it to Base Camp without any intervention by Dol or Dawa, I honestly don't know if I would have been able to do it. Everything that HGT said it was going to do, it did. I would recommend HGT to anybody planning on trekking in Nepal and I would do so without any reservations. HGT and its employees are a class company, trustworthy, helpful and caring. One suggestion that I have: I think you'll be much happier with a lightweight point and shoot camera hanging around your neck than you will be with a more capable (and heavier) digital SLR.

Excellent trip
I did the Everest Base Camp Short trek with an outstanding guide, Subash Moktan. The company and Subash were very attentive to my needs. In fact, Subash was like a mother hen -always monitoring how I felt and whether I needed anything.
About the trek: it is hard, beautiful and well-worth it.
