- infoL3726QD0 contributionsGreat way to spend an evening dinner around the river. This city cruise was fantastic, the food is great and atmosphere was also great. Worth the money and it was enjoyable. Picked up and dropped off from our hotel it was an easy activity.Written 19 January 2025
- NewFarm0 contributionsGreat fun whichever package you choose. We were picked up from our hotel right on time, then taken to the jetty to board the speedboat. We swiftly proceeded to the floating pier for the paragliding. We were then taken to the snorkelling boats moored at sea, for a full hour. After that it was off to the island for lunch and a relaxing swim and sun bathe for 3/4 hours. (Free sun bed and shade) Then the speedboat took us back to shore at 3.00p.m. After reaching the jetty at Pattaya, we were taken back to our hotels. No waiting, no hassle. The speedboat was adequately powered by 2 x 250 bhp Honda outboards.Written 8 January 2025
- 676carls0 contributionsPrivate tour to the Bridge over the River KwaiThis was our second trip in just two days (the first being the floating and train markets, along with a visit to the coconut farm), and once again, it was an incredible experience today. Again opting for the private hire option was absolutely the right choice upon this trip to the bridge over the River Kwai. Adul, our tour guide today, went above and beyond to make us feel truly special—nothing was ever too much trouble for him or the driver. We also enjoyed a wonderfully arranged stop for food, which was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Adul embodies the qualities of a true gentleman at every turn. We can’t recommend this experience highly enough and extend our heartfelt thanks to Adul! Carl & PaulaWritten 7 January 2025

- O4736EHtaniah0 contributionsA fabulous tourAn absolutely fabulous day. It was just the two of us with the tour guide and driver. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of our questions about the history and culture of Thailand. Lunch was amazing in a beautiful, natural setting. - miahE7500UZ0 contributionsTemples, reclining Buddha and boatVery good communication and they picked me up at my son's residence rather than a listed hotel. The locations to visit and the boat ride back was just great. Very nice buffet. 2 things though: The bus's AC kept going from 16* to 23* alternating back and forth. I closed the vents but I was very cold driving to the first temple- which was over an hour due to traffic. Also, an explanatory guide d tour of the temples, like I saw being done for other groups, would have beenso much better. The signs were mostly only in Thai.Written 28 December 2024
- Roving6527000 contributionsGreat tour and a great dayThis tour for sire worths the time and money. Everything went well and as planned from pick up to drop off. The island is a great place to relax with beautiful view. The lunch was good and with respect to what we had paid, it was quite good and reasonable. I recommend this tour both to couples, families and solo’s.Written 25 December 2024

- R2480LQandys0 contributionsAyatthaya TemplesWe were lucky enough to visit this historic city with my girlfriend's family, who have lived in Bangkok for many years but, there are many tour operators that provide either private tours or group tours, that include not only this magnificent part of Thai history but other locations enroute. I whole heartedly recommend a trip to this incredible ancient city, which for over 400 years was Thailand's capital. This used to have palaces as splendid and as spectacular as the Grand Palace in Bangkok. It is now sadly in ruins after it was destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. As well as the Ancient Palace, Wat Chai Watthanaram Temple (which is very photogenic) and the enormous Wat Mahatat Temple, on the eastern side of Phraram Park in the city centre, which will blow your mind, there is also the Ayutthaya Historical Study Centre, where you can learn so much more about this incredible place. We walked a lot throughout our trip so I would definitely advise taking plenty of water. There is an air of tranquillity throughout this city. An overriding peacefulness that leaves you feeling calm and at ease with the world. I'm writing this quite a long time after visiting but if memory serves me correct it's about a two hour drive from the centre of Bangkok. One other bit of advice is that you are respectfully asked not to sit on any of the stones. I completely recommend a visit.Written 23 December 2024

- O470LBhannahn0 contributionsThai’s dinner and show experienceThe dinner and show was great! Directions to the place were vague. Hotel concierge at Mandarin was not helpful at all. We got on the wrong ferry and had to pay. Then we were directed to walk through dark alleys to get to the place that required more walking before we got to the true venue. We got there before our meeting at 7 pm and were offered drinks which we have to pay for. We were seated with very few guests. Other customers came in sporadically and caused disturbances with their coming in as a large group. Dinner was not included any drink. For our water and coffee, we paid an extra 20 US dollars at the end.Written 11 December 2024
- nelungunasekera0 contributionsA waste of money on an over-hyped nightmare .This was a nostalgic trip to the floating market I first visited over 30 yrs ago, together with trips on the klongs (canals) along which people lived in houses on stilts. What a nightmare! I spent Bt1500.00 on a taxi there & back and Bt2000.00 for a longboat and saw loads of tourists crammed into longboats which were all crammed together on the canals - with more vendors in shops, built along the filthy canals, clamouring for your attention. There is nothing authentic about such tourist hotspots in Thailand any more. While residents do buy from vendors in boats, the vast majority of vendors merely paddle around for tourists to buy stuff n take photos of them.Written 2 December 2024

I would recommend any travellers visiting Bangkok for the first time to make a visit to the infamous Floating Markets.
They have a few versions but they one furthest away from the City seems more vibrant and authentic.
Samdoek Floating market the more popular one.

The floating markets are a really cool place that is ruined by the amount of crap on sale for tourists. It's all junk that you can see in Bangkok, but it was still fun nonethless.
The reason for 3 stars is the tour could have been better organised by letting us know roughly how long the journey will be because we almost had a toilet issue on the way back which seemed to take almost twice as long as the way there with no stop for the happy room.

I see many mixed reviews about this trip. We are a couple late 50s and travelled quite a lot. We still found this worthwhile. Go early!!! To avoid loads of people. Try a private or small group not bus loads which are horrid. Yes it is touristy but the history and going around was still fun. Coconut ice cream yum. Barter 50% off everything.

Thank you for sharing your review and offering valuable insights. However, We are glad to hear that despite mixed reviews, you found it worthwhile, especially considering your experience as a seasoned traveler.
Your advice to go early is excellent, as it can help you avoid large crowds and enjoy a more relaxed experience. Opting for a private or small group tour instead of busloads of people can indeed enhance the overall experience, allowing for a more personalized and intimate exploration which we privilege.
While the destination may have a touristy vibe, it's great to hear that you still found the history intriguing and enjoyable. And of course, indulging in delicious coconut ice cream adds to the overall experience!
Your suggestion to bargain or barter for better prices is a helpful tip for anyone planning to visit.
Thank you for taking the time to share your insights and recommendations. They will undoubtedly be beneficial to other travelers seeking a memorable experience. Happy travels!

We used Tour East for all of our airport transfers and tours during our honeymoon in Bangkok and they never let us down!
For Bangkok, we had a full day trip courtesy of our guides Tum Tum and Mr Satong. Both were very friendly, knowledgeable and spent all day with us taking us through the following itinerary:
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
Coconut farm
White Orchid riverside dinner cruise
It was an early start from our hotel, around 7:30am but Mr Satong and Tum Tum made us feel at ease and gave us an overview of the history of Bangkok and the area. We visited the coconut farm and tried some of the coconut syrup and brough some of the usual souvenirs here, which were cheaper than at the market or surrounding stalls in centre of Bangkok. Tum Tum offered to take photos for us as we went through the tours.
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
This was a nice guided tour of the floating market and about 1 hour outside of Bangkok, and we were fortunate to have good weather and not many tourists around when we visited. We were driven to the transfer boat and taken to the entrance of the floating market. After paying our entrance fee (1000 bht), we were then taken round the market by boat and the stall owners grabbed our boat with their hooks to draw us to their souvenir stalls. After our round trip of the floating market, we were returned by boat to the entrance of the floating market, where we could look at the stalls on land for 30 minutes or so. It's worth waiting for this, as we found better deals on gifts for our families here. Again, Tum Tum took as many photos as we asked for! We returned about 3pm to our hotel.
White Orchid riverside dinner cruise - 2 hours
We started at the mall by the riverside, and had some time to explore the shops whilst we waited for the boat. It was raining at this point but the river boat staff provide umbrellas to usher you onto the boat. The food wasn't the best, with it being a buffet and cold, however we had plenty of hot food to eat, and the entertainment on the boat was great. The atmosphere and audience participation made up for the shortcomings. As the evening went on, the rain stopped and we could explore the upper deck, to see the beautiful night view of the Chao Phraya river and the nightlife.
Bless Tum Tum and Mr Satong, who at this point had been with use for nearly all day! They dropped us off back at the hotel and were still as friendly and enthusiastic as they had been all day! I highly recommend asking for Tum Tum to be your guide for your visit to Bangkok!

Not worth the money, cost $80 per person for boat, stalls all sold the same thing and were super expensive. Pair of pants you could get off the street in Bangkok for 150 baht was 1,200 baht at markets. Would not recommend this tour. The only thing I saw worth buying was they had amazing art work, but wouldn't fit in your suit case to take home. I didn't ask how much it was though.

This is a tourist trap. Be aware! Taxi drivers from Bangkok will offer you a day trip for about 1500 Bhat, but they won't take you to the main market. You will arrive to a tourist point were they will ask you to pay 2000-5000 Bhat. They will take you through the canals to tourists shops. You will just feel as their prisoner.
We wasted half a day and there was nothing to see.

This is a huge tourist scam. Was an exorbitant price for trip down a very ordinary canal. We were forced to stop at every stall and made to look at the same cheap rubbish all priced way over the top. Nothing authentic about the whole trip. Other people we met all agreed with us . An extremely disappointing outing. Huge tourist rip off.

Great concept but that is the only good thing I can say about this market. Al items for sale were way exorbitantly overpriced and even at half the price they were charging.
Most stalls sold the same sort of items. I would describe them as very expensive rubbish. The cost of 4000 bht was extremely expensive even in western terms. Would definitely NOT recommend this place.

Dear Sir or Madam,
We believe this review is unrelated to our services and do not price as such.
That being said, the floating market is undoubtedly a great concept, however as a notorious location it has become a place to express your talents for negotiation (which is also part of the experience).
The variety of the Goods is limited to the number of stores; other markets may offer more but it can not be done by boat.
We wish you a wonderful day ahead,
Kind regards,

A fun longboat ride through a very crowded floating market. The powerboats bully their way through the traffic as you visit vendors along the water and also get visited by boats selling food and wares also. Lots of color and fun.

Did you want to go the floating market straight from the airport ?
I guess you can do that depending on the taxi that you hire But it's better to get the tourist coach from the hotel.

Hi! How far is Damnoen Saduak Floating Market from Bangkok and how long is this tour?
Written 28 October 2019
We were staying at Silom ,so it us about an one and a half to reach the floating market. They are difficult package tours just the floating market or you can combine it with the bridge on the river kwea, which we did. In the package the boat ride is about half an hour , then we paid extra for another half an hour boat ride which takes you closer to the shops which are on either side of the canal. The boatman does not rush you so it can be quite a leisurely ride.
