An Exceptional Experience at Doi Suthep
Kit was recommended to me by a friend whose judgment I trust, so I had no hesitation in contacting him for the first tour we took in Chiang Mai. He was professional in every way and answered all our questions about the beautiful and spiritual experience we had at Doi Suthep Temple. He was very experienced and knew just where to take us to provide an outstanding morning. We wished we could have asked him to guide us on other days but he was hired for a week by a previous customer who uses him every year. That sums it up!

          Great tour with purichat!
Purichat, or as May as she told us to call her, was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. We enjoyed her tour and as well as her very witty sense of humour. Highly recommended :)

Any toy you take with Ae is a winner!
We did two tours with Ae. The first one was a food tour around Chiang Mai and we had a ball. Ae is so knowledgeable and personable at the same time. She makes everything fun and we ate so much! The next tour we did with her was a bike ride through the countryside and we actually went through her hometown and because she knew I love coffee so much, she took us to her favorite coffee shop and then we went to the roaster to see how the coffee was roasted. she’s great at tailoring things and finding cool things for one to look at. And she always make sure we have enough to eat and drink! On the bike ride through the country, I was bitten by a dog which is a real fluke and she was quick to take out her first aid kit and put iodine on it and then we all went to the emergency room which was a great experience and she took care of everything. We can’t wait to return to Chiang Mai and when we do we will definitely use her again for any tour.

          A Perfect Morning
My morning with Kit was really wonderful. He shared a lot about his life as a monk and I talked about what was going on in my life too. At the temple, I loved the giving food to the monks ceremony. Seeing the care that Kit took to make sure each monk got the food that would please them really made an impact on me (the kids got chicken wings). And sharing the sunrise with him was special. I mostly appreciated his asking me questions we could both equally weigh in on like what's most important in life, gives most satisfaction, parenting things, etc. It made for the kind of conversation I wanted to be having on this trip. Thanks Kit, you're a Sweetie!

          Wonderful Experience with Naphat
I had such a wonderful experience with Naphat. She is very knowledgeable about the city, food and temples. She took me to the best scenic spots, the best food in town, as well as shared great knowledge about temples and Buddhism. I keep going back to the spot she took me for sunset and some of the amazing food we had. Some of the food places included famous spots that Anthony Bourdain visited while he was in Chiang Mai. I had such a great experience the first time that I booked another tour with Naphat. Don’t miss out and book a wonderful tour with Naphat, you won’t regret it!

Disappointed! Tour was suddenly cancelled a day prior.
Our booking via Tripadvisor was suddenly cancelled a day prior. Since we were leaving the country the day after the tour the extremely short notice left us unable to book anything else. What a disappointment and unreliable experience that was.

          Our favorite tour in Thailand!
This was the best tour we did in Thailand. May was awesome. She was so informative and we were able to experience the food in a way that we never would have on our own.

An interesting afternoon in the old city
Ratana our guide was delightful, friendly and chatty and full of information. She always had answers when we asked her about the history of Thailand and life now. We tried durian (not as bad as it’s made out to be??), saw lots of temples in the old city—some really beautiful—and she gave us good tips for the markets, local food, and hiking on the outskirts of the city. Thank you, Ratana!

          Wonder Food Tour Experience
Sawitchaya was very welcoming and a font of knowledge. We began and ended the tour at a restaurant and tried specialties such as Koh Soi, massaman Curry and Tom Yum soup. At the first restaurant where we had Koh Soi, it was accompanied by tea salad which was one of the highlights of the day. We spent the middle part of the tour at a local market that was for "locals". The market was clean, well organized and huge. There were an amazing array of produce as well as semi prepared and ready to go foods. Our guide, Sawitchaya, did a terrific job of explaining all the spices, produce and other assorted ingredients and how they were used to create an amazing array of prepared and semi-prepared foods for sale.

Seeing Chiang Mai with Purdichat and With Locals
Purdichat was an absolute delight and my friends and I enjoyed touring around Chiang Mai with her. It was so special and informative to see the city through the eyes of a local. What I appreciated most about her is the pride and care with which she answered our questions and informed us about Thai culture, the history of the sites and temples we visited, and the philosophy of Buddhism. My friends and I left the tour with an increased understanding of the city and the Thai people. I highly recommend her as a guide.

Excellent food tour -- highly recommended!!
We really enjoyed our food tour with Tanya. She was really nice and easy-going, The food experience was really nice, with a variety of savory and sweet options to try. Tanya was incredibly generous with the food and we actually had to work hard not to over-eat. At the end, we were taken on a market tour which was the perfect end to a great tour, during which Tanya asked us to pick several "take away" snacks for later. The best part of the entire tour was learning about Northern Thai cuisine, which Tanya did expertly. We would highly recommend this tour and Tanya as an amazing guide to an interesting array of flavors from the northern part of Thailand. Thanks so much, Tanya!!

I booked and took a day trip to Doi Inthanon with Naphat. This excursion made a huge impression on me historically, scenically and spiritually. Naphat is a very experienced and versatile trained tour guide with a flair for captivating people. The in-depth conversations and detailed explanations of the various places visited far exceeded my expectations. Among other things, I was able to experience first-hand insights into coexistence in a mountain village.
This and the explanations about Buddhism in everyday life touched me very much and I am very grateful to Naphat for that. I can highly recommend Naphat to anyone looking for something more than just landscape images.

We went to Doi Inthanon with Purichat (or May as she prefers to go by) and we had a truly epic day. May could not have been more solicitous and accommodating and we truly enjoyed her company and her very in-depth knowledge of Thailand. After our tour, she took us to find street food and mango sticky rice and even showed us her family’s favorite Thai dessert. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a great day and even connected us with her equally amazing sister, Minty, who took us to Chiangrai to see the temples. Minty took us to a restaurant to try Khao soi and to another place to try coconut milk coffee. Just like her sister, she went above and beyond and was so nice. You can’t go wrong with either of these very knowledgeable, friendly tour guides. If you can afford to take a private tour through Withlocals it is so worth it. Having your own private guide with a comfy car to ride in is priceless. We definitely feel like we got a great feel for Chiangmai in our 3 days here and would recommend these tours to everyone.

*I couldn’t include the proper members of our group. I went with my mom and grandma and May and Minty were very helpful to my grandma and concerned about her safety during the slightly sketchier parts of the jungle hike.

Connected with our guide a few weeks before our arrival, he was very good at communicating with us and working out a good itinerary. He stayed in contact all the way up to our day of arrival, making sure to check in the night before our scheduled adventure. He arrived promptly and met us in our hotel lobby. We made our introductions and all packed into the car. We made a quick stop to get fuel and talked more about what we wanted to do for the day. My Brother had expressed an interest in seeing some elephants so we mentioned that. He said no problem and made a quick phone call, as we later learned, to his brother who worked with a local elephant sanctuary. So, our first stop for the day was to feed and interact with a small herd of elephants. From there we traveled further up the mountain to Doi Inthanon national park. The rest of our day was spent exploring the local area and visiting with Karen Hill Tribe locals, topped off with an immersive introduction to the art of coffee growing and roasting. Overall we had a fantastic day and made lifelong friends.

Nephat has an infectious enthusiasm and natural talent helping people discover the history and culture of Thai people. She was very patient with me when I asked a lot of questions about the stone engraving in the twin pagodas. I appreciated the way she took her time with me Inever felt rushed on under pressure. Being an older man with asthma, I appreciated How she chooses trails in Doi Inthanon National park that were appropriate and still allowed me to experience Thai nature and wild life to its fullest. Again takin time to explain the natural land ecosystem. I have had many Quine’s, but would have to say that she was one of the best. Will recommend her to all my friends and will book her again when I come back to thailand.

Wutikorn (he goes by Boy) took great care of us. 10 hours is a long tour and he was always attentive to what we needed, water, coffee, a restroom or just quiet time, he was always on top of it. He was full of enthusiasm for what we were seeing, it never felt canned or rote. He took care of little details, like ordering food ahead at the local restaurant which is delicious, but slow, or adjusting the schedule to be out of sync with the crowds at various sites. In short, we saw lots of extraordinary things and Boy was a kind, thoughtful and knowledgeable guide.

We had a wonderful day with our guide Sith. The long drive from Chiang Mai to his local village in Doi Inthanon was well worth it as Sith introduced us to his family and involved us in the various steps of artisanal coffee making. We harvested and stripped the fruits of their outer shell, saw how coffee is naturally sun roasted and the shell removed by hand. We roasted the grains in a clay pot over wood fire, ground the coffee after it cooled down and finally enjoyed a lovely cup of our own roast! Meanwhile, Sith's cousin sang story telling traditional songs. It was magical... After a lovely lunch at the village's only restaurant, we enjoyed a nice walk with a local guide along the river and numerous waterfalls, learning about the jungle flora and fauna.

We booked this trip as we wanted to see nature and culture around Chiang Mai in a family friendly setting. Long story short: it was great and better than expected. Purichat and her sister took us on the tour and arranged for everything in a perfect way. Clear communication upfront, very nice car, very friendly and willing to explain, yet also very sensitive to what 8- and 10-year old boys can handle. All the different kind of activities during the day make it very interesting and provide for good intervals and mix in experiences. The Karen village and coffee plantation were a good experience and the best was the walk through the jungle. It was very doable for the whole family but also provided the nice experience and introduction to the landscape with jungle, river, rice fields etc we were hoping for. So if you want to experience something very complementary to city and beach life, go for this tour and Purichat is an excellent guide!

Naphat was an incredible tour guide. She was flexible when we wanted to change our plans and gave us a one of a kind experience. Her knowledge of her country is commendable. She is really plugged in and engaged and it made our time with her much more interesting. It felt like we had a good friend showing us the little gems in Chiang Mai and letting us see a part of Thailand through a completely new lens. We wanted to know a lot about Buddhism and the rituals of that religion and she did not disappoint. Our day with Naphat ended up being the highlight of the whole trip. Thanks Naphat!

We were very happy with the tours that we took with Purichat (May). We did the half day Chiang Mai hidden gems tour as well as the full day Doi Inthanon trip. May was very professional, highly informative and thought of the many little things that made the tours very comfortable and easy for us (she even recommends local restaurants which had delicious food!). For the hidden gems tour, she showed us around the local market and temples. For the Doi Inthanon trip, she even walked with us and the Karen hill tribe guide for the Mae Kew Pan nature hike and happily took many photos for us along the way and explained the various trees and plants. We would highly recommend May to show you around Chiang Mai and we would be happy to have her as a tour guide the next we are there. Thank you May!
