To begin, the process for booking a trip with CMRCA was extremely easy and they were fairly flexible with dates. We booked our excursion within a week of visiting Chiang Mai and we had absolutely no issues.

Second, the excursion was incredible! When we told them about the levels we climbed, they matched the routes perfectly. Transportation was taken care of as part of our package, and the same goes for lunch/water. The ride was two hours, but it was beautiful and we got to stop for a bathroom break and snacks. The food we had for lunch was also delicious and filling too!

Last but not least, Gee (our tour guide) was phenomenal. He was fun to be around and had an insane amount of rock climbing knowledge. In fact, when we returned to the gym, he stayed and talked to us about how we could improve and the strategy to do so. He also let us ask a million questions.

Thank you CMRCA and Gee for such a great time! It was worth every penny!

My sister and I went on the one day lampang adventure and had an amazing time! Our guide, Gee was super friendly and encouraging but always made sure we felt safe on the rock too.

The wee cafe where we stopped off to collect lunch was really cool too and the food was delicious. Definitely have your camera or phone at the ready - the rock itself is just incredible looking.

Pick-up was really close to our hostel, pretty central and inside the old town of Chiang Mai. It was a bit of an early start but totally worth it to get as much time on the rock as possible.

It was my first experience climbing outside a gym and I couldn't have asked for a better introduction!

My family of three spent a day rock climbing in Lampang with CMRCA. They were great and I would definitely recommend them. Our guide was extremely knowledgable, supportive, fun, and did a very good job meeting the different climbing skills of the three people in our group.

I was only in Chiang Mai for two days, so only had time for the 1-day Lampang trip, but it was worth it. The two-hour drive is not bad; you get to see the northern Thai countryside, hills, and towns. The crag is beautiful limestone and an easy 5-minute walk from the parking area. The trails are nice and there's plenty of space to set up in the Thai forest where you'll hear birds and cicadas. The routes are a fun mixture of juggy, pocketed easy to moderate single pitches in the hard 5 to 6c range with lots of 6a routes. There is a ton of potential though for higher grades and multipitches--CMRCA had just bolted about 16 new routes in the days before I was there, and I'm sure that there is much more to come. The 6c in middle that goes under, up, and over a stalactite is a highlight. All the routes are generously bolted and anchors have chains and rings. The CMRCA guides are safe, informed, and out to help you have a great day of climbing, whether you are a beginner or experienced, and their whole enterprise values sustainability from cleaning up to reusable food and water containers to fostering relationships with local businesses, people, and government. If you want to climb in Lampang, be sure to go through CMRCA and contact them at least a week in advance--the area is on private/government land, and CMRCA is the only way to set up a permit to climb there.

We scheduled this day trip as a family, myself and my husband (55+ yrs old) and our two children 28 yrs and 25 yrs. Our 25 yr old son practices rock climbing, however myself and my husband did not have experience climbing. The two guides Alan and White, were supportive in ensuring the climbs met each of our abilities, they provided alot of encouragement and direction. The equipment and set-up was thorough, Alan was very knowledgable, we felt safe at all times. My son got a minor scrape but the guide Alan had the proper medical equipment and expertise to provide first aid so he could continue to climb the rest of the day. The transportation was two hours each way from chiang mai, the van was air conditioned and it was a good opportunity to learn from the guides, they also provided a break mid drive. A local lunch was also provided mid-day with zero waste (use of reusable containers- not plastic).

We all had a great time, the views were breathtaking and the feeling of accomplishment was incredible. Thank-you to Alan and White for an amazing experience in Lampang.

It was our first time outdoor climbing experience and I was a bit scared but with Taw’s (instructor) support I conquered my fear and had so much fun climbing all routes which he set up for us. We also tried cave climbing which was very interesting and unusual experience. The staff was very nice and friendly and Taw’s assistant was professional and friendly. Lunch was delicious and location was very beautiful I would say breathtaking. Also this adventure was a bday gift for my boyfriend and im so thankful to the whole team for the smooth organization and care for customers. My boyfriend loved the whole experience too.

Taw is a professional instructor and the best part to meet people like Taw is to see and feel their love, care and passion for the sport they do. Thank you Taw for taking care of us and providing the best support. Trust is an essential part of sport like rock climbing, and we can confidently say that Taw built that trust easily with us.

After driving for approximately 2 hours out of Chiang Mai city (now in the Lampang Province) a huge limestone wall stretches into the sky to your right. We followed a dirt track until reaching a small car park, which would be a figurative camp for the day we were there. The wall towers up ahead of you, and after walking towards it (slightly uphill) for around 4 minutes you will reach the area were you will be spending a majority of the day. Bring everything you'll need (water) for the day and go to the toilets before leaving you 'camp' (that's the carpark) because you don't want to have to walk back down to the car park. Remember to look up. Our day began with climbing. There are 5 beginner walls, and as a fairly experienced climber, these were all rather easy, but I hadn't been climbing for about a month (:() before climbing the limestone so by the last wall my hands were hurting. The first climb on your far left is probably the easiest, but there are two ways up (pick the hard way to challenge yourself). The second from the right was probably the most challenging but still easy. However, if you try the far right wall without assistance from a ladder (which I consider cheating), it's the most fun out of all of them because of the crack at the beginning. The middle wall has a little traverse in the middle which is pretty fun too. Would recommend trying all the climbs even if you don't think you can complete them. After climbing, we climbed up through a short series of caves and ladders until 30 meters up, where we abseiled/rappelled downwards (part of which was through the air). Remember to wear gloves or your hands will get pretty sore (the supply you with them). Good to challenge yourself, especially if you're scared of heights (or falling). Over all it was a great trip and the guides were super friendly but they don't give you any mango :)
