This was directly under Jeep tours and I mistakenly booked a “military tour” falsely assuming it was in a jeep. It was NOT. The operator would not refund when we stressed we did not want to do this tour we could do ourselves in a regular car. They would not assist at all with a partial refund or anything. Totally ruined my experience as I thought we would be in a jeep. I was very unhappy and couldn’t enjoy the trip at all. I would have just left it had t cost me already over $300 AUD for 2 people. Don’t be as stupid as me and think This is in a Jeep. There is no room for error.. not the fault of the guide but when I’m upset I can’t enjoy.

Alex is a walking encyclopedia of knowledge. If you are a history buff, or want a tour that is more focused on the historic and militaristic side of Vietnam, this is the one! As the other reviewers have stated, you quickly get from site to site via nice air-conditioned taxi, and Alex did an excellent job providing a historical context to what would otherwise be just a quick photo stop. Highly recommend!

I had an amazing tour with Alex. he was informative and was happy to explain all about the wars that Vietnam have been through. There were some quite emotional and harrowing images, especially at the 'Hanoi Hilton' prison. I was a lone traveller and had amazing experience of Vietnam's rich and varied history, which included the ancient Citadel, with it's beautiful buildings and gardens.

While visiting in Hanoi, and friend and I took the half day military tour. We visited the Hanoi Military Museum, the Hoa Lo Prison, and the site of the crashed B-52. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the places we visited and answered all of our questions. He stayed in touch before the tour, and met us at our hotel exactly on time. As we walked around the city, he answered all of questions and led us through some “off the beaten path” areas. It was a very enjoyable and educational tour.

We very much enjoyed touring Hanoi with Alex, including a French Quarter walking tour and Old Quarter street food tour. Stopped at a great place for coffee … the egg yolk coffee was a treat! Great variety on the street food tour. Alex also offered great restaurant recommendations. The best part was just to get to know Alex, he’s a great guy.

Alex is nice and took us around to the Hanoi prison, the military museum, the site of a B52 crash and the Long Bien Bridge. During this tour, you will be shuttled via taxi from site to site. I will say it was a convenient way to see all the sites in a half day, however we felt like this was extremely over priced, and that there was not much enthusiasm or personalization. I didn’t get the feeling he was really passionate about this job. He also asked me if I was interested in a unique gift from Hanoi- and I said sure I would be willing to look. Maybe there was some mis- communication but he took us 25 minutes out of the way to a large industrial building with an extremely pushy owner trying to get me to buy something. It was a huge waste of time and I would have said “no” had I realized it was so far away. The entire thing just felt off to me. Ultimately the price didn’t justify the tour.

Spoke English very good , on time well worth the $ . We been in this area for over a month , this was the best tour we have been on, would highly recommend.

We have only one full day to do any sightseeing. As this is our second trip to Hanoi, we want to see something different. I contacted Alex and told him I wanted to see Tam Coc and take boat ride to see caves. He customized a tour for us and we have the best experience. We went to Tam Coc early to avoid any waiting and the restaurant he took us was really good. After lunch we went to Galaxy Grotto (Dong Thien Ha). It’s an unbelievable experience. We were the only people there. To reach the grotto a boatman rolled us to the foot of the mountain then walked about 5 minutes to the cave entrance. Once inside the shapes of the stalactite and the lights are just amazing. You will need to take another boat ride inside the wet cave. Just beware of bats hanging on the ceiling, if you shine the torch on them they will fly around. Thanks Alex for arranging this wonderful day!

Our three-day stay in Hanoi was impeccably well organised thanks to our wonderful tourguide Alex. Everything was taken care off with great enthusiasm and we did not have to worry about a single thing from the airport pickup to a day tour to Halong Bay for example. Alex provides the right amount of detail yet does not overburden one with all there is to know about Vietnam and thus made our stay very comfortable and insightful at the same time. If you are looking for a professional, certified tourguide that especially caters for private and customised tours, Alex definitely will take great care of you and we would like to recommend him without any hesitation.

What great afternoon we had on this cyclo tour, fab way to see hanoi and learn about the culture and the war. Really enjoyed our time with Alex our guide and full credit to our cyclists. Highly recommend it!!

Alex took two of us on a three hour (half day) walking tour in the Old City area of Hanoi to four locations offering different food and drink selections typical to Hanoi. An experienced tour guide, he provided ample information about the area, food and culture during the tour. As an aside... by following Alex through the busy streets of the Old City, we learned how to cross streets without incident.

My husband, myself and my parents did this tour with Alex. It was a great day Alex was very informative and was happy to answer any questions we had ( which was lots) he was totally relaxed and flexible and the tour went at our pace. The lunch at the ancient village was yum and make sure you try the rice vodka was so good !!on way back to hotel Alex was happy to make the time to take us to a jewellery store at my request and did not rush us while we were there thanks Alex I love my ring😀 Alex was also more than happy to give advise on the best places to go to eat and see in Hanoi. We had dinner at Madam Hien last night and it was great so thanks for that Alex. Hopefully we see you in NZ some time

Our Hanoi guide was Alex Nguyen. He guided us through the Citadel, a museum, and the Old Quarter. He also recommended an amazing local show at the Tuong Theatre, “My Village” and dinner afterward at Madame Hien. Both were amazing and we wouldn’t have known about them without his recommendation.
