Pictures look much better than in real
The pictures look much better than in real. The rooms are clean, but clearly have suffered for some years - maybe when the ship was not used during Covid? Route: We went to lan ha bay, some guests thought the tour is ha long bay. The boat didn’t move a lot and we very quickly reached the anchor points, but I guess most boats are doing this. The last day was supposed to include a cave, we couldn’t enter because of the water levels. They didn’t tell us and still put us on the bamboo boats to be occupied. Service: excellent Food: for a „luxury“ tour was unfortunately only average. If we would do lan ha bay again, we would go to cat ba and do a day tour instead.

What a trip!!! Worth every penny
It was a great experience. Great from the beginning to the end of the trip. The limousine was spacious and comfy. The cruise ship was very nice, big room, modern and classy decor, not tacky like some other cruises. The services were spot on. Staffs were attentive, friendly and can communicate well in English. The foods were good, they(staffs) said just let us know if you’d like a second serve of food, of course it’s free of charge. But to be honest, the first serve was already so generous and delicious. Great activity programs, kayaking in the middle of the beautiful scenery, or having sunset drinks with the priceless view or squid fishing(I didn’t catch any squid but it was fun). Bonus point, the cruise doesn’t have karaoke service and it anchored faraway from all other lower cost cruises so all guests didn’t have to put up with all unwanted terrible karaoke sounds. Definitely I will do it again with Le Theatre cruise.

Beautiful boat, incredible views, amazing food, delightful staff
The whole thing was amazing! The boat and room were immaculate and we had panoramic views across the bay. The food was incredible, the atmosphere was ace. All the staff were attentive, polite and helpful always. Leo was an excellent server, nothing was too much trouble. Peter was very good to chat to and told us a lot of interesting things about the area and local traditions. The day trips were great! Weather was warm but cloudy so visibility wasn’t perfect but still beautiful and obviously nothing that can be done about the weather!!

On my Vietnam “5Hs” trip, heading north to south, I was eager after the manic throb of Hanoi, to relax and enjoy my Halong Bay cruise. After vigorous research on booking.com I chose Le Theatre Cruises. I chose this company because it cruised Lan Ha Bay as well as Halong and because the boat looked rather grand with a (dare I say) Titanic style, glamorous staircase giving into the dining-salon. I decided to pay extra for transfers which was well worth the cost as these were three-hour journeys and it was stress-free to be picked up from my Hanoi hotel and dropped at the airport after the cruise for my flight to Hue. I had absorbed those reviews regretting booking only one night so of course I booked two. The email communication from Le Theatre Cruises prior to departure was excellent, providing quick responses and comprehensive information. It was so exciting arriving at Halong Bay, joining my fellow Le Theatre “cruisers” and being warmly welcomed by the accomplished Manager Tom who was a charismatic and engaging Showman – perfect for a company called “Le Theatre Cruises.” Although a solo traveller and not celebrating anything other than the joy of my Vietnam Odyssey, my request for an upgrade was granted and I was given a third-floor room with better view and less engine noise. I reckon all the rooms save the Panorama Suite must be pretty much the same offering a glamorous level of comfort and luxury with lots of space, huge windows and a lovely, big balcony. Well… it is all about the awe-inspiring views of surreal Halong Bay! As expected, the boat was “faded glory” rather than a spic and span transatlantic liner, but that is why I chose it. The facilities were still excellent with lots of different decks, bars and openair views. (Nota bene! The swimming pool is only decorative.) This is not really a relaxing, lolling around escape if you want to go on the boat trips from the Le Theatre mothership. They are of course not mandatory, but well worth doing. I could never quite distinguish whether we were in Halong Bay or Lan Ha Bay and I think our hugely enthusiastic, lovely guide Peter took us around Cat Ba Island. I’d not bothered to check the itinerary in detail, but just jumped on tour; the day tour on day two and the morning tour on day three and enjoyed every minute! I met fabulous people on the cruise and they kindly absorbed me into their family group which greatly enhanced my travels. You see lots of other cruise ships as you travel around the bays, but this adds to the panorama and excitement. It is not overcrowded and at night the twinkling lights of the other ships are magical. The staff on Le Theatre Cruises were wonderful and their fun and kindness added to the adventure. The Vietnamese style of hospitality is impressive. The smiles and charm of Thai people, but with extra Va! Va! Vroom! and fantastic attention to detail. My Le Theatre Cruise around other-wordly Halong Bay was one of the most fabulous and memorable parts of my Vietnam itinerary.

        Bliss honeymoon
All staff went above and beyond to make our trip unforgettable! Due to our long flight, my husband got DVT the day before our departure for our cruise his legs were not looking good which was concerning us. Having no meds, we contacted the office, Linh who sent one of their colleagues to get him some ibuprofen. By the time we arrived at the port, the meds were there! The minute we entered the cruise until the end everyone was friendly and very helpful. On arrival were were greated with welcoming drinks and Jerry, our personal waiter treated us like VIP. Young, friendly and willing to accommodate any requests. The food was delicious although not much choices if you are vegetarian. As a nice surprise, the company upgraded us to the Panoramic view room which was incredible but there is no window to open. We find the AC too strong to keep it on over the night. However the bed and pillows were very comfortable. On our last night we were offered dinner on the deck, a very nice romantic setting. The oysters and all the sea food was delicious. I read some of the negative reviews so I was a bit anxious when I booked. However we cannot complain. We accepted that some of the things are not perfect and needs attention but those little details are insignificant in comparison with the staff's commitment to please you. I felt embarrassed to notice that some of the previous guests made damages to the room. It can be argued that's the company's responsibility to replace and fix things but, for a country like Vietnam where tourism is developing, we need to support their business and be more respectful and treat it like its your room. Havimg owned a business in the hospitality I know how much damage a negative review can do, hence I like to focus on the bigger picture. A massive thank you to all the staff who went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and make our honeymoon so memorable. Simona&Steve

Great itinerary, lovely crew, gorgeous bay
We did the 2 night option 1/12/23 to 3/12/23. The cruise company is fantastic, boasting courteous staff. Special mention to Peter, the Manager, who demonstrated remarkable attentiveness, ensuring our stay was both comfortable and memorable. He went the extra mile to accommodate my dietary preferences and even orchestrated a heartfelt birthday surprise, leaving me pleasantly surprised. The itinerary was great, in particular the tour to Viet Hai Village. Peter kept us well informed and was always ready to assist. Truly a valuable employee for any company.

Very disappointing. On the plus side: Staff very nice, fantastic location, top deck great. Junior suite..was just a room and with issues. Provided feedback on departure that was recognised by the company, apologies and refund of part of the drinks bill. Provided lots of photos and feedback to the agency who recommended La Theatre. Had done the same trip on a 4 star boat before and that was far superior. Would not recommend.

        10/10 recommend!
We really enjoyed our time on Le Theatre cruises. The itinerary was well planned and everything ran like clock work. We were picked up at our hotel in the old quarter of Hanoi and took a 3 hours luxury bus ride to Halon which was very cozy. We strongly recommend booking directly with the cruise company since 2 ways transfer is included in their package price. We arrived at their office in Tun Chau island and the place was absolutely beautiful. It's a huge dock where you'll see lots of boats anchoring, and whilte it's packed with tourists it still felt quite serene. We were assisted by staff to board a tender to travel to the main boat which took about 20 mins. Lunch was served right after boarding the main boat in a gorgeous restaurant. The buffet lunch was absolutely amazing and the quality of the food remained consistant throughout. We especially loved the seafood dinner, everything was so fresh and tasty and beautifully presented. 10/10 for their chef! The rest of trip consists of activities like kayaking, swimming in the bay, squid fishing which you can opt in or out of which was good. We did the kayaking in the afternoon and just chilled the rest of the time. Highlight of our stay was the drinking session after dinner. I was amazed at how many drinking game equipments they had, lol. We ended up making a bunch of new friends and had one of the best nights of our lives. We were blessed with beautiful weather the 2nd day and took a boat ride to the dark&bright caves and it was so peaceful and lovely. We were told sometimes the water would be too high to go inside the cave so I guess we were lucky that day. Overall this trip was a great side trip if you're in Hanoi. And we were very happy with our decision of doing this with Le Theatre cruise.

We had a fantastic time and loved absolutely everything. What an incredible place and experience. Cannot recommend this trip enough. Dave and Laura were exceptional and looked after us so well. They were so kind and accommodating. Tom was so knowledgeable about the area too. Really pleased with the service. Our room was beautiful and the views and experiences offered on this cruise were unrivalled. Would do it again in a heart beat! Thank you so much Le Theatre Cruise.

        Beautiful, Breathtaking, Romantic Experience
Me, my husband, my mom and titas went on this cruise recently and I must say this was a BREATHAKING experience indeed. We only stayed for 2 days and 1 night but if we had more time, we wish we had the 3 days 2 nights experience instead because everything was beautiful. The boat and the rooms were superb and aesthetic-- love the tub and the comfy bed. We also enjoyed the rich selection of food and drinks available. I recommend guests to participate in the activities because they made the trip more memorable: swimming ,kayaking, cooking lesson, happy hour, squid fishing, cave exploration. The staff were also efficient and approachable -- special mention to ANNA who also gave me a free Viet traditional hat which I truly appreciate. She went above and beyond to assist my family all throughout the cruise. Also, I would like to give kudos to Peter as well for his nice service to the guests. All in all, We really enjoyed the cruise it was definitely a 5 star experience and I will highly recommend!

        Amazing staff and management
Very fun filled trip with always some activities to do. Food was also very nice, must try the seafood platter. The crew and management especially very friendly. I forgot an item on cruise but they delivered it to my place in South of Vietnam with no extra charge. When I requested them to take tips, they humbly refused. Amazing people and service. 10/10 recommend.

A tragic & rushed cruise with food poisoning & a shocking lack of food hygiene standards in the glass-front kitchen
Getting on the cruise was great. Quick transfer, nice staff, pretty boat, pretty room. But it ended there. We were given 6 main courses straight away and felt really bad we couldn't finish them. Not an exaggeration... That night I was awake with a serious infection; not just a funny tummy/food poisoning. Hot and cold sweats, fever, headache, shivering, and no less than 13 trips to the toilet over the next 24 hours. Staff didn't seem to care much but did offer me "some pills" which I politely declined. I spent the entire second day in bed near the toilet and missed all the activities. The WiFi didn't work for the entirety of the trip, on any of our devices, including the rooms smart TV. We managed to send maybe 3 or 4 WhatsApp messages over the whole 3 days, depsite WiFi being advertised. The air con in the room was weak and it was quite uncomfortable for the duration of the trip. They did generously provide 12 toilet rolls; but you can't flush it and it has to go in a small foot pedal bin, which wasn't really a 5 star experience. I was so happy to finally get off the cruise. Breakfast was lacking; if you didn't want fish or noodle soup, it was bread and butter or museli - nothing else. Dinner was a set menu that didn't end, and we again felt stressed with how much food was coming out. We just started rejecting it in the end. The restaurant is next to the kitchen which has a glass front so you can see all the food being prepared. Chefs wore flip flops, no hair nets, no gloves, and crossed utensils across different food types - probably the only way they could get such huge volumes of food out so fast. This cross contamination between oysters, squid, fish, boned fish, and all sorts, is undoubtedly what delivered the bacteria that stayed with me for the first night. In the cooking glass one of the assistants gave us our rice paper with bare hands having come out of the kitchen, touching the door, which was another red flag. Salads were warm and meat was not "piping hot" as always advised in the UK. This is a whistle stop tour aimed at churning guests through as fast as possible and getting them out for the next cohort to come in, hence the packed schedule. We had a "sunset party" at 5pm which, in contrast to the classical music and the high class surrounds, featured very loud Chinese rave music. This was also "happy hour" 2 for 1, but we weren't able to get the staff to actually do that and settled for 3 for 1 in the end. The language barrier was quite poor across the whole cruise. I operate a business in the UK that regularly has council food hygiene inspections and has a 5 star government rating; this cruise would struggle to pass a 2. There is seemingly no awareness or training on bacteria and safe handling. The top deck pool is only decorative and it's unlikely you'll go up there at all; you'll notice the itinerary includes almost 0 time to relax or explore the boat. Kayaking was ok, there is a depressing amount of trash in halong bay and we would've been better off not going. The boat cave trip was awful, there wasn't even a cave; we went to a beach then came back. Safety isn't a priority on the cruise. There was no briefing on the transfer boat and we were told we can go swimming without wearing the life jacket as long as we "held on" to it. The shower was fairly mouldy at the bottom but otherwise the room was clean. The multifunction toilet was interesting but I'd rather a normal one I can put paper in. The transfer to and from the cruise by coach was very nice and enjoyable. We did meet others onboard which helped. I would've left early if I could, but I was trapped with no WiFi or signal at all. Being stranded with no WiFi was not fun. Especially having to buy water constantly throughout the day despite paying a month's rent per night for the stay. Halong bay is beautiful, but knowing what I know now I would've got a two-hour trip on a little speedboat and come back. It's busy though. There are so many cruise ships it's like a scene from the evacuation of Dunkirk. I would've enjoyed that better probably. This is a blunt and matter of fact review and, of course, I strongly advise readers not to book this cruise or another cruise on halong bay. If this is one of the high end cruises, god knows the conditions on the others. The images and descriptions are quite misleading and don't really reflect reality on the boat at all. If you are exploring the boat, you are getting in the way of staff hoovering and you are probably the only person doing it. If you do go, do not eat food from the kitchen. Take your own. Or at least just ask for french fries; don't risk it.

        Exquisite Tour & Getaway Experience
This was a beautiful experience. The staff on Le Theatre Cruise was beyond excellent. Our suite had 2 fun towel origami swans with rose petals on the bed when we arrived with a complimentary bottle of wine and local fruits waiting for us. The window views were more grand than we could have hoped for. The activities were a blast and our designated tour guide gave us the perfect recommendations for us to enjoy each day to the fullest. Dining was delicious at every meal with local dishes accompanied by some more international traditional dishes so there was something for every pallette. We were surprised with a separate couples dining experience and a complimentary bottle of wine on our first dinner. I could probably give a minute by minute recount, but tou should just go and experience it! The islands are so beautiful, the staff and local citizens are so pleasant and patient with our language barrier, the weather was quite warm, but overall everything was perfect!

Took this 2D/1N cruise as part of a hotel package. As Le Theatre was touted as a luxury cruise on Halong Bay, we were expecting some great food and plush cabins. And we were disappointed. The food was so-so at best. Upon boarding, there was a buffet lunch spread, which looked more like a buffet spread at a common restaurant, tasty enough to consume, but not something you will want to remember as a luxurious treat. Dinner was a fixed set (no choice here) of a seafood platter (oysters, clams, prawns, 2 measly pieces of cuttlefish, and seabass), soup (tasted like the soup at lunch), braised pork dish (tough stringey fatty pork, almost tasteless) and stir-fried veg (they can do better!) with rice. And light breakfast was forgettable Pho, with buffet brunch a poorer rendition of lunch the day before! And then the Junior Balcony Suite. Besides the only consolation of a comfortable bed, the amenities were 3-star hotel, and everything else looked and felt old and dated. This ship could not have been inaugurated in 2019, maybe 2009! The crew tried their best to keep everyone happy, but really, if you had fed us all very well, and gave us luxury amenities in a plush room (maybe even a mini bar), they would not have needed to, let alone organize any other activities (what was organized was really not that great...), Halong Bay would have kept us captivated the rest of the time!

This is the perfect boat to explore one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. It only takes a maximum 45 people so it feels welcoming and personal. Sensational food and rooms too. Our Guide was also excellent. Great for families or couples

The cruise is managed by a professional crew and excellent tour manager 'Tom'. They are professional and stick to the itinary which was provided before . Also , they considered food preferences. Lucie left no stone unturned in providing personalize services . The bartender is equally good and served good cocktails such as Martini , Negroni etc.

This was purchased as a birthday gift by my Son who had previously visited Halong Bay on a similar experience, but with a different company, Le Theatre was recommended to him by the booking agent, & whilst this may have been an upsell on the agents behalf we cannot fault the trip that we got.

You start the tour by being taken from the company’s pier in a motorised boat to the main ship, this transfer takes around 40 minutes. The main ship being anchored in the bay.

On arrival you get a very nice buffet lunch served in the beautiful dining room. The food available was really good & there is plenty of it. After lunch you then get assigned your cabin to check in. These are good quality rooms with some ace & a balcony.

The boat then moves a distance & the first activity offered is kayaking & swimming for around 1 & a half hours. If this is not for you just relax on the boat enjoying the amazing views. The sun deck on the top deck is lovely. After the kayaking you get some downtime to get ready for dinner & a happy hour is offered at the bar + the chance to participate in a cooking class.

Dinner is a multi course a la carte traditional offering with a fish platter as the mainstay. My only caution is there were little other options, or there appeared to be, so if your not that struck on fish or some of the more traditional fayre it may not be for you. After dinner you can partake in a bit of line fishing off the back of the boat, more for the youngsters this one, before lights out at 10pm.

Day 2 starts early with Tai Chi at 6am, then a light breakfast before travelling on a traditional boat to the caves.

On return you are served a buffet breakfast before checking out.

All in all a fabulous experience, in a stunning natural bay that takes the breath away. The crew are amazing, they cannot do enough to give you the best time. Our tour manager Owen was wonderful, making sure you were happy & offering lots of information.

      Le Theatre - highly recommended

Wow. We were very impressed by this cruise. Not just the beauty of the ship and the rooms, but the professionalism knowledge, and friendliness of the staff.
Our room had a great bed, plenty of space, sweet balcony, small refrigerator, and good bathroom. The meals and activities were top notch. Tom was our cruise director and he was very instructive and helpful on the itinerary. Our butler was Andrew….what a kind, helpful and enjoyable person!
I recommend this cruise to anyone who wants to relax and be spoiled.

From start to finish this cruise really professional and well planned. Every part was so easy. All pick ups were on time and the cruise schedule was spot on. Food and service from staff was outstanding especially from 3 staff especially. Tom, Sam and Tequila who were all especially friendly and made our family feel special. Exceptional service!
The boat itself is clean and well equipped. The room was surprisingly roomy for a cabin. All food was of great quality and very well cooked and prepared. The scenery of Halong Bay is terrific. Le Theatre cruises try to go slightly earlier to some sights to avoid the crowds which is a great strategy as the queues were very long when we had finished our activities.

We experienced a wonderful 3 day/2night cruise with Le Theatre. What a beautiful time we had. I knew it was going to be spectacular but nothing prepared me for the majestic Halong Bay. Waking up in the morning was beautiful and the staff on board couldn’t do enough for us. Attention to detail, cleanliness, amazing food and great organisation makes this company the best.

We have a good experience in the cruise with the tour guide Mr Tom shows us around and explain about Halong Bay history. We also impressed by the service Ms Anna provided helpful and kind. Will highly recommend friends and relatives to join Le Theatre Cruise.

My wife and I recently went on an overnight cruise with Le Theater. Entire trip right from picking us from Hotel to the time they dropped us back at hotel was well organized and professionally managed.

Cruise had a great balcony view. Food was amazing. Staff are excellent. Our guide Tom was terrific, paid keen attention and made sure everyone's needs are taken care of. During trip, staff organized number of events including Kayaking, fishing and Cave boating etc. In summary, it was a wonderful cruise trip and I would highly recommend Le Theatre cruise.
