- Ashley S0 contributionsAmazing experienceWe absolutely loved this tour. Very easy explanation of how to make Vietnamese food, beautiful flavours and everyone so knowledgeable about the food, herbs and mushrooms. Highly recommendedWritten 19 October 2024
- X4831ODflorians0 contributionsA very nice introduction to Vietnamese cuisineI had a very nice and interesting day with chef Linh, I definitely recommend this cooking class for those seeking to learn more about Vietnamese cuisine 👍🙂 Visiting the farm and picking ingredients at the start of the day is a great way to learn more about some of the typical vegetables of Vietnamese cuisine. The day's cooking then flows smoothly thanks to the good organization and teaching skills of Chef Linh, who is there to guide you from start to finish. And, last but not least, cooked dishes are very good 🥙✨Written 3 September 2024
- Ox R0 contributionsAmazing cooking experienceWe loved this experience/cooking class. Despite the longish commute from District 1 in heavy morning traffic (90mins), we loved learning so much about Vietnamese Food, ingredients and how to prepare and cook. Having the opportunity to pick and choose all your fresh ingredients from their own farm is also special. The company is owned by a chef who owns restaurants in Melbourne, he is passionate about training more Vietnamese chefs, and we were impressed by all the staff and local chef Daisy. We have a whole new appreciation of Vietnamese food, and would highly recommend this to anyone who is considering a cooking class in HCMC.Written 10 July 2024
- emilyn6490 contributionsAbove and Beyond!!WOW, this was so much more of an incredible experience than I ever thought it would be! My tour guide, Linh, was funny, thoughtful, and so knowledgeable. Because he knew my interest in herbal medicine, he made sure to spend extra time teaching me about the plants and their medicinal properties. The cooking was SO FUN, and the food was incredibly filling. I have many dietary restrictions (gluten free , dairy free) and they accommodated every request to make sure I was able to be without worry! The mushroom growth process was fascinating , and I can tell this cooking school and farm is filled with love and passion to make the world a better place!Written 17 April 2024
- Rulip0 contributionsFood, farm, fun and yum!Best day, authentic, fun and delicious! Alice was our amazing guide, helping us create very impressive results. She is also great fun and engaged with each of us. Rookie mistake, we had breakfast prior to pick up. Don’t, there is so much food. Recommend this day unreservedly.Written 10 April 2024
- 437anniem0 contributionsFun, food and fabulous flavoursWe had a fabulous half day cooking class, lead by the wonderful, knowledgeable and bubbly Alice. We were picked up exactly on time from our accommodation and drove out to the farm. Alice took us through the garden and we picked the vegetables and herbs to be used in our cooking. We made delicious meals, Alice gave clear instructions and a lot of laughs. Highly recommend this day out to learn more about Vietnamese cuisine and ingredients.Written 8 April 2024
- karin_thomas60 contributionsFun, informative, DeliciousI really enjoyed this class. It was a long excursion since the organic farm and class are 1.5 hours outside the city, but I found it worth the time. After a tour of the farm we picked fresh vegetables and mushrooms from the gardens and then prepared the dishes in a lovely covered outdoor cooking space. They did a great job accommodating my gluten free status, and another participant's veganism. I look forward to using the techniques to make Vietnamese food at home.Written 23 March 2024
- Ross M0 contributionsCooking in the country - a great escapeFrom the pick up to drop off this was a great experience. Highly recommend taking the time to travel out and visit the farm kitchen. Alice our guide/chef was charming, well informed and talked us through cooking our lunch - which was lovely. Pay for the small group - worth the personal service.Written 26 February 2024
- Claude R0 contributionsFANTASTICAn experience not to be missed ! We intended to follow up cooking classes during Lunar New Year celebrations. It was not easy to find one operative cooking class and fortunately, we have been able to book Chef Tan Farm to table class. It was fantastic ! They first picked us up at our hotel by mini van. Our guide, who by chance was our chef introduced himself along with the 1/2 day planning. His name was Linh. Time to meet our class mates for about a 45 minute drive to the outskirts of HCM city. We experienced first an active herb selection in the organic garden. Every single plant we would use was explained to us by Linh and we got to select some for our own cooking use. Ginger, lemongrass, mustard leaves, organic mushrooms… Then, Linh introduced us to our cooking burners and tools. The rest is yours to follow according to the 3 course meal day menu. (One of our mates had already chosen on line her specific cooking request and could work on an A la carte lesson; great). My friend and I followed the regular class and Linh was very clear, professional and fun!!! A great experience not to be missed at all!!! We enjoyed eating every single dish we prepared . Thank you !Written 17 February 2024
- Scenic215800691700 contributionsAn immersive experience in Ho Chi Minh CityThe HCM cooking class was a wonderful, authentic Vietnamese experience. Aura picked us up from our doorstep and took us to the farm. At the farm while Aura explained to us the benefits of each of the plants and herbs, we plucked the vegetables and herbs we would need for cooking. The cooking session was fun and informative. A story was woven around the ingredients for each sauce and as a result it is impossible to forget what went into the sauces! There was so much we learnt not just about Vietnamese food, but also about the Vietnamese people. The recipes were simple but the results were outstanding - both for experienced cooks and for novices! At the end of the session we were awarded certificates and then dropped back to our doorstep. The experience was memorable and I would highly recommend it to one and all! Indrani LahiriWritten 30 January 2024

- dccon0 contributionsHCM Cooking School excellent an a fun day out of SaigonThis was a great experience from beginning to end, It was very informative not just about Vietnamese cooking but also about the ingredients in the fields which go to make the food so delicious, We enjoyed the trip out to to countryside with our small group, the amazing authentic market visit, the foraging on the organic farm and then the cooking experience itself. It was simple and easy to follow and very well organised. My husband who is not a cook, was dubious before we set off but had a very enjoyable day. - silin4280 contributionsOne of the best cooking classes I’ve ever hadAura is our guide and chef throughout the cooking class. She’s super friendly and knowledgeable. She showed us around the farm with detailed explanations of the plants, animals and ingredients. Back in the kitchen, she guided us through the cooking process of four dishes with fun and easy to follow instructions. We enjoyed the cooking and the dishes a lot! - 827wendip0 contributionsA true farm to table gourmet experience! This was a nice escape from the hectic city life to see organic food thrive in one of the more difficult places to grow food at one point. The staff speak fluent English, everyone's so friendly. It was exciting that I finally learned how to make some Vietnamese food taste authentic! The mushroom growing space was super cool too!Written 18 December 2023

Terrific full-day tour of the agricultural village garden, fun cooking class, and then insightful and informative tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels. This was a great day trip outside of Ho Chi Minh City.
We were picked up in a very comfortable vehicle and it’s about an hour drive to and from Ho Chi Minh City center. Learning about local plants at the garden was a highlight. I also loved learning about the Cu Chi Tunnels and felt the tour added value I wouldn’t have otherwise experienced at the Tunnels. It was great meeting other guests on the tour.
The cooking class was fun and I learned about the Vietnamese cuisine, but was relatively basic and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend for those looking for a more advanced cooking class.

I had a great experience with the HCM cooking school.
The guide Alice was very energetic from the early morning pickup until the end of the tour and explained everything very well. Added onto the good experience tremendously!
It was fun before we started cooking that we went into the school's organic farm garden. Getting explanations on a lot veggies, fruits, nuts and herbs. It is fun to pick from the garden knowing you will be cooking with these fresh hand picked ingredients.
The set up for the cooking class was standard but it works well. Make a dish, eat it and continue. They take it easy and dont rush it at all. You get some good basic knowledge about Vietnamese cuisine while making some good recipes (and you take the recipes home along with a certificate).
And obviously Cu Chi is very impressive and Alice was also guiding us along the area which she was knowledgable about as well.
Overall a very engaging and fun day!
Also, as a foreigner who doesnt speak a lick of Vietnamese it felt very reassuring that they day before they seek contact on multiple occasions to make sure the pick up goes smoothly. They also respond fast through email and SMS.

Alice is a very enthousiastic and friendly guide and chef. We had a great day with this tour. We started the day with an early hotel pick up, and after picking up 3 more people (a total of 5 people for the cooking class) we drove to Chef Tans organic farm and restaurant. We had a fun tour through the garden, and cooked 4 great dishes. It is noteworthy that they are very flexible in dietary restrictions and any preferences!
Afterwards the other three people were driven back home, and Alice took us to the Cu Chi Tunnels. They were nice and quiet in the afternoon, and Alice was able to tell us a lot of interesting information and fun facts.
Unfortunately, due to an illness we had to reschedule last minute - this was no problem for HCM cooking class, and they were very helpful in making sure we were comfortable.
All in all a great experience; we definitely recommend booking with HCM cooking class!

This was an amazing cultural experience lead by our tour guide and chef Linh who was very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about traditional Vietnamese farming and cooking as well as the history of the Cu Chi tunnels. We enjoyed eating all of the delicious food that we harvested and cooked ourselves. Overall it was a very rewarding and informative experience. I would recommend wearing closed in shoes that you don’t mind if they get a little dirty (eg no white shoes like we made the mistake of doing) and if you would like to adventure through the Cu Chi tunnels some longer pants is a must. Thank you so much Linh it was a wonderful experience!

Without a doubt, one of the highlights of our trip to Vietnam. Alice kept us informed and entertained throughout the day and without her bubbly enthusiasm it just would not have been as good an experience. We would highly recommend this cooking class which, not only, taught us how to cook a few dishes, but gave us confidence (when out and about) in trying new dishes and information on how to eat ’Vietnamese’

Absolutely incredible experience and so glad I booked the tunnels and cooking class as a joint tour as it saved me a 3 hour round trip from Ho Chi Minh. The guide, Alice, was excellent; she was upbeat, bubbly and knowledgeable all the way through and pretty much made the day as good as it was. This was such a memorable day and worth every single penny-in fact, I would have been happy to pay more. Transport was included-Car picked us up from our hotel in central ho chi minh at 7am and dropped us back at 5pm. The day started with our group visiting the organic farm and picking all the different herbs, mushrooms and vegetables whilst Alice spoke about their health benefits and medicinal uses. We then took the fresh produce back into the nearby kitchen and prepared a delicious 4 course meal-prawn spring rolls, fired poor noodle salad, chicken, oyster mushroom and cashew milk curry and banana spring rolls with coconut ice cream for dessert. After we ate the food we’d prepared, we drove for 15 minutes to the cu chi tunnels where Alice gave us a full tour of the complex and allowed us to go inside the tunnels.

We thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class. It was fun picking and then cooking (and eating) your own ingredients. The tutor was very personable and the class well organised and run. We combined the class with a tour of Cu Chi tunnels which are only 20 minutes from the cooking class venue. Overall had a great day.

We had the lovely Alice as our guide for the day. She was very knowledgeable and great with our kids. We loved learning about the plants in the garden and harvesting our own mushrooms. The cooking class is well paced with breaks to eat your creations while the team sets up the next round. I had meat-free options while the rest of the family enjoyed pork, shrimp and chicken. I really appreciated how Alice didn't talk down to the kids and had them doing all the same work, only jumping in when they were clearly frustrated or there was hot oil involved. The Cu Chi tour was also very well organized and very interesting. The kids loved it. It was nice (and hot) to go in the afternoon as I think crowds come in the morning. Overall, very organized, fun and great for kids who are into cooking and history.

I often take cooking classes when I travel to Southeast Asia, and while we usually go to see the market, this class was very interesting as we actually picked ingredients in the fields outside the classroom while the explanations were given. We were given precise instructions on how to cook the dishes and the key points. We made four different dishes. The portions were a little too much so we had some left over, but we still had dessert.
The people at the Cu Chi Tunnels also explained things to us in Japanese using the translation function on their smartphones, and although it was my second visit, I was able to learn something new.
Our guide, Aura, was very cheerful and helpful.
