Interesting to visit this museum and learn about the Vietnam War from the Vietnamese perspective. Entrance was 40,000 Dong (about $2.00). The history of the war as well as the aftermath and recovery are included. Outside there are displays of the planes, tanks, prison and torture devices used.

Very Real, transporting you to that era

🔫We visited the War Remnants Museum, which graphically depicted the Vietnam war. It was really informative, with guns, tanks, helicopters and even flamethrowers being displayed. The sins of war are readily portrayed here, and I must say that this is a must visit when it comes to museums.

Harrowing, informative and essential

This interesting and well-curated museum is a must-do for any visitor to Saigon given the impact of the American War, as it is known in Vietnam.

I read every piece of information and therefore spent about 4 hours here. It is presented in a well-constructed narrative/timeline. Heavy-going and with no sparing of details, it is also extremely compelling. The information presented naturally comes from the Vietnamese perspective, but if anything this just highlighted/accentuated the western subjectivity I am usually subjected to.

I can't recommend it enough but would also recommend planning something uplifting for after your visit e.g. water puppets show!

We visited the museum as part of a guided trip round Ho Chi Minh City. We were only allocated an hour to look around and we would have preferred longer. It was extremely interesting and humbling. Would definitely recommend.

Very Educational but Graphic
Dec 2019
This was our first stop one morning on our group tour in Saigon. Its in a good location and easy to walk to. There is also other sites close by that you could walk when you are done.

It cost 40,000VND which is about $2.37CAD and was fairly busy around 9am when we arrived. There is lots of tanks, planes, and helicopters in the yard to look at. As well as the many large sized bullet shells. There is also the Tiger Cage located outside. This is NOT an animal cages. (There were a few disappointed people on our tour). It was rebuilt according to the Tiger Cage at Con Dao prison. Communists & troops used to be restrained in small cells without beds and consisted of very small windows. All they had to endure were darkness & humid, and bad quality air. The Tiger Cage was the place where intense torture took place. The cage is considered to be the most terrible torture place of its time.

Inside there are many artifacts, historical facts and images evidence of hardship and crimes. Each exhibit had its own theme. Lots of military equipment placed on the walls. All the exhibits are air-conditioned. I found it all very interesting but sad at the same time.

Agent Orange exhibit was the hardest one to look at. It was very graphic Up to 4m people were exposed to the chemicals. The government claims as many as 3m have suffered illnesses because of the Agent Orange contamination.  They also estimates that up too 1m are disabled or have health issues.

Heartbreaking
Feb 2020
It's a must do IMHO. It breaks your heart seeing the damage that was done to this beautiful county during the war and after. The use of Agent Orange was horrific and the enduring results are hard to wrap your head around.

Humbling
Jan 2020
In my opinion War Remnants Museum is a must see attraction while you're in Ho Chi Minh City ( aka Saigon). from the moment you enter the Museum complex, you see war machines of VietNam war era 1960s and early 1970s. The Museum is very well laid out and you can walk from floor to floor and see(read) the story of the war and suffering .The Museum is full of war ammunition, photos, movie footages etc. The visit is very absorbing and humbling.A must visit place.
There are 2 gift shops on ground floor.

A graphic reminder of the tragedy of war
Mar 2020
This museum should be visited by all Americans when in Vietnam. Most of the museum contains photos and pictures detailing various aspects of the war. Whether or not their viewpoint of the war is slanted can be debated, but no doubt they suffered terribly during this period of their history.

Vietnam War
Feb 2020
War Remnants Museum is a must see attraction while you're in Saigon. The military gear outside was incredible to see in close proximity, and the third floor was the very best. The one disappointing thing for me was the quantity of time we had been given to see the museum. However allocating seventy minutes because of this appeal isn't adequate, as you want 2 hours to actually digest the artifacts and stories behind this tragic war that began with communism paranoia. Though the US retreated from Vietnam, nobody really wins a battle.
