About
The tunnels are a great destination located 70 km from the Ho Chi Minh City Center to the Northwest. Cu Chi was known as the “area of steel” in the war time, and the tunnel systems were over 200km, which was considered the unbreakable underground village in the Vietnam-American war. It is legendary for its network of tunnels, and is a popular destination for both Vietnamese and foreign visitors.

    Cu Chi Tunnels
Stop: 3 hours - Admission included
Pick up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City in District 1. The trip to Cu Chi will take approximately one and a half hours bus driving. Upon arrival, before exploring the tunnels, you will have some short introduction followed by introductory video about how the tunnels were constructed and how the people survived in the harsh conditions of the war time. Then, spend your time to explore the remaining area and tunnel systems which included the special constructed living areas with kitchens, bedrooms side by side with other martial facilities like storage, weapons factories, field hospitals, and command centers helping whoever lives inside the tunnels meet their basic needs. Besides, there are also many hidden trap doors and dangerous traps within the maze-like tunnels for security purpose during the war. Afterward, special tea and cassava (guerilla’s food during the war) will be served. Break time for relax or time for those who want to try the real shooting gun. Return to Saigon.

Very interesting and a good way to learn more about this war experience from the Vietnam perspective.
But also confrontational at times!

I detest war and we should criminalize war. Everyone deserves to live in peace. Visited this sad place and learned how local people has suffered and endured to gain independence is quite an overwhelming experience.

Our tour guide was Tuan and he could not have been nicer, he was very informative and shared some personal accounts with us about his experiences of war. We learned about some of the incredibly smart war tactics, including the making of the Cu Chi tunnel itself.

Would highly recommend.

We took a half day organised tour around Saigon and this museum was part of the tour. It gave the government's perspective of the Vietnam War. The very modern museum had many different American tanks and planes outside. There was a very graphic part which showed and the explained the torture given out by the French (including the last guillotine used). It also implied that there was torture inflicted by the American Army. Inside the air conditioned Museum there were over 100 pictures which explained the negative reaction of American soldiers and the rest if the world to the Vietnam War.

I made a friend when I was in HCM and we decided to go to the Cu Chi tunnels, first they take you to an art outpost where those less fortunate create art then they take you too the tunnels. It was really interesting learning about what went on and seeing the communist propaganda. For like $4-5 a bullet you can shoot a range of guns that they have on a range. The only bad part was the ride to and fro, but that’s traffic you can’t control. Instead of taking the free lunch at the end, we all got off at the first drop off and found our ways. Overall it was worth the experience.

This war museum is an antidote to most of the Western fiction films made about the Vietnam /American war. It is a chilling reminder of man's capacity for inhumanity to his own kind.
Many people ask, "Haven't we learned anything after so many wars? " The sad answer to this is, "Yes, we have; as long as the small group of people with the power to declare war do not go to the front line themselves, we will continue to have wars till we wipe out our species".
