You will see petroglyphs (stone carvings) dating back to the third and second millennia B.C and the Middle Ages, household ceramics and archaeological artifacts discovered in the Absheron Peninsula. Gobustan and Mud Volcano Tour with Seymur
Had a brilliant tour with Seymur and Elman the Driver to the Unesco World Heritage site of Gobustan to see the Petroglyphs. Seymur was very informative and answered all our questions regarding this wonderful place of history. Later we were taken to the Mud Volcanoes which took us on a bumpy road to find the many volcanoes bubbling away. It was a very windy day but so as not to disappoint Seymur got us there for us to view this fascinating event . We were dropped back off at the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. We would definitely recommend the trip.

Gobustan National Park & Mud Volcanos
Gobustan National Park and Mud Volcano Review Many thanks to Seymour who was an excellent guide as was our driver Elman. We were picked up from our hotel for a 4hour trip to the UNESCO World Heritage tour to see the Petroglyphs and museum of remains and artifacts found in the area. Seymur was very informative and happy to answer all questions. We found the trip very interesting. The second part of our trip took us to the mud volcanoes of which there are many. The forces of nature known to Baku (high winds) were upon us which made the trip quite tricky but with the help of Seymour we got to see the mud in action bubbling away. What a wonderful history filled trip. Thanks from Karen and Mark we would highly recommend it.

Gobustan National Park and Mud Volcanoes Tour
Had a thoroughly enjoyable day exploring the famous mud volcanoes and rock art in Gobustan, 45 mins outside Baku. We met our guide, Shahin, in a central location in Baku and from there were transported off to the location via private vehicle. Once we arrived close to our destination, we were whisked away to our first stop, the mud volcanoes, via local transport - a local driver with a Lada which was quite an experience! Shahin was extremely informative and entertaining and gave us an in depth tour of the rock art museum as well as a walking tour of the petroglyphs enscribed on the local mountains nearby as well as helping us collect mud from the bubbling volcanoes! I highly recommend this tour to travellers who wish to explore a little further out than Baku!

    Great trip!
Thanks to Seymur who was an excellent guide! What a fab day trip! We were picked up from our hotel at 10 and headed out of Baku past the oil fields as seen the James Bind film The World is Not Enough. Seymur gave us lots of interesting information and was happy to answer all our questions about the country. After about an hour we turned on to a dirt track road up to the mud volcanoes. These are a fantastic natural feature we even saw some locals swimming in one of them! We then went to get a doner for lunch in a local shop then I nwards to the Gobustan museum which was informative and gave context to the area we were in. We then visited the petroglyphs themselves and Seumur gave us lots of information about the history and the drawings. It was great to get out of the city, I would recommend this tour.

    Great guide amazing places
What a stunning natural feature the mud volcanoes are and what fascinating historical insight the petroglyphs provide to the area. Shahin proved to be a very knowledgable and highly informative guide to the three guests. We were met at the metro station by Shahin and his driver ( I’m so sorry I didn’t catch his name) and they proved to be a very entertaining duo. With water provided we drove though the city towards our destination with a commentary enabling us to pick out interesting and historical features. At Gobustan we visited the museum which allowed us to understand everything in context. Then to the rocks and petroglyphs themselves. Some are obvious and easily identified others require a significant amount of imagination. Nevertheless the views from this position are wonderful. The main deal however, after the cross country drive ( do not do this if you suffer with a bad back) is the mud volcanoes. A number of pinnacles at the mountain peak hold incredible bubbling mud pools. They are cold and we even saw one person immerse themselves into the mud. Shame they had no water to clean themselves. It is a strange and wonderful landscape. The lack of regulation means that there is some littering and it can get very busy. It’s a must to see however.

Fun Tour of some World Class Sites
Picked up by our friendly knowledgeable guide Seymur and driven out of town through amazing landscape to see the quirky natural mud volcanoes. Swapped to fun little Ladas to make the dirt track part of the drive. On to a really interesting museum in Gobustan about the history of the area and the petroglyphs. Finally to the outdoor museum to see the wonderful and ancient petroglyphs in situ. Who knew this ancient rock art even existed and what good company Seymur was in putting it all in context and answering our questions. So glad we took the time to make this trip

    Amazing Heritage Tour
Today I had an amazing experience at Gobustan National Park. My friend and I were met by Shahin, at Sahil metro Exit and he brought us to meet our driver. There were just my friend and I on the tour, and Shahin too great car of us. He is extremely knowledgeable and engaging. We enjoyed looking at the petraglyphs, and the heritage museum was informative, if quite loud!. The mud volcanoes are so weird and unusual to look at, and so mesmerising that you cant look away. It is an off road trip to get to the muddy volcanoes, which can be a bit bumpy, but enjoyable all the same.

    Flexible and knowledgeable team
We agreed on a tour combining two daily tours together. The team was very flexible and the tour guide was great, knowledgeable, with good English. We enjoyed our day, saw Gobustan and mud volcanos, ancient carvings, but also Fire Temple and burning mountain, all this with a bit of time for lunch too. It was a great day!
