We as a family had a great day tour with Farid.

The locations, cable car experience were amazing and Farid was super informative thru out the travel explaining us the history involved on the destinations.

The drive is super pretty and scenic locations are pure treats to the eye.
The travel takes more than 8-10 hours as a whole to do the entire trip and better to stay hydrated through out the same.

Great and comfortable tour. Ali our guide was so patient and exceptionally well versed in the history.

When you have a guide that is as passionate and proud about their culture and country as Ali, you can’t go wrong.

The car was super comfortable and everything was as per the itinerary.

Will highly recommend to take this tour to explore Azerbhaijan and not be restricted to Baku.

We booked this tour as private tour so we don’t feel rushed and the itinerary can be flexible and we told our tour at the beginning that we want to stop at nice and not very touristy places/spots along the way to Qabala. For us it didn’t matter if we couldn’t visit every place in the itinerary as long as we are seeing something unique and different. However, the tour was boring and the tour guide didn’t seem interested at all. In fact, he was trying to cover all the places as fast as he can, so the whole trip from Baku to Qabala including all the stops and sightseeing in the itinerary took approximately 5 hours only !!
We felt rushed as if our guide l want us to see the place take a photo and move to the next place in the itinerary but for us we wanted to enjoy. In addition , he barely gave information and it did seem like he was avoiding that to save time.
Not mention, the lake was partially closed due to flooding and we have been told the cable cars were closed due to maintenance. So the tour company were aware of this but they didn’t inform us and we have been charged the full amount !
So, we felt scammed because the company should have been clear and honest and we should have been informed at the time of booking about the closures and the price should have been reduced accordingly.
Further, the driver was very talkative and this gave us headaches.

Overall, we are not satisfied with this tour and wouldn’t recommend it to others

If you are a nature lover. Definitely you wouldn’t want to miss the beautiful scenery of gabala and shamakhi. What i loved the most was riding the cable car which you will see the breathtaking views at the top of the mountain. Overall it was enjoyable and great experience plus a friendly and kind local guide ali and zayed (driver). For future traveller. I suggest to visit at cold season oct-dec to enjoy not only the place but the weather 🤗

Fall 2019 Baku City Tours

Jummah Mosque - Gabala - Nokhur Gel Lake
Tufandag Winter Summer Tourism Holiday Complex
Yeddi Gozel Waterfall

Itinerary

Rendezvous outside the gate of the Old Town Gates

Jummah Mosque

First stop is the Jummah Mosque, just outside of Baku City.
The architecture is simple enough but the euro around the place is definitely serene and somewhat pious. The mural of mosaic tiles has a simple beauty to it.

Gabala

When they stopped the van in front of an extremely narrow bride and said why don't you walk across it, I had a minor panic attack. I have a fear of heights and bridges, especially when there is running water underneath the bridge. But Arshiya was my whip, and she whipped me into not being a wuss and cross the bridge, which I did, successfully !

We stopped at a little reservation in Gabala where we had lunch. This place was like a hidden forest with outdoor picnic seating amidst the fresh air. We fell in love with this place immediately but weren’t too fond of the food. It lacked authenticity of Azerbaijan cuisine, with limited options and small portions. We really would’ve appreciated a mezze platter and some fruit for dessert. Food doesn’t have to be expensive to be fulfilling and hearty.

Nokhur Gel Lake

This scenic lake was our next stop where we stretched our legs and took in the beauty of the calm lake. Paddle boats were available if you wanted to go around the lake. As we went higher into the hills, the air got cooler but around this time its mid afternoon so the brisk air did us good.

Tufandag Winter Summer Tourism Holiday Complex

This holiday complex was the high light of our tour. There were very high end chair lifts that took us up into the clouds. on the hilltop, we were enveloped by the clouds and the chill.
The restaurant on the resort was only offering beverages without milk. I don't understand why they would turn away business when they could have their guests guzzle hot cocoa or cappuccinos. This minute hiccup aside, the views were simply breath taking.

Yeddi Gozel Waterfall

The last destination was the Yeddi Gozel Waterfall. The hike up the hill was quite steep but not too long. Arshiya made it all the way to the top, while I stayed midway and prayed she doesn’t come rolling down the hill quite like a certain Jack…. This would inevitably make me Jill as I would subsequently tumble after her.

On our drive back we made a pit stop use the loos, since our tour guide was adamant to head straight into town. He was a rather jolly chap who took incredible photographs.

The service overall was really punctual and very friendly. We weren’t uncomfortable as we were the only women on the tour. In fact it was a really pleasant road trip, where time just flew by as we basked in the glory of the country side and the hills. We definitely did not regret it and urge everyone who reads this to get in touch with Baku City Tours for all your exploration needs.

We were unhappy with the trip. Not informative, no commentary. It would have been better if there was explanation instead of a silent trip. Nice people but very disappointing trip
