Day trip to the Sumbiling Ecovillage in Temburong
The trip consists of 2 boat rides into the pristine Temburong jungle. Option to stay over night in the Sumbiling ecovillage. We had a fantastic day and thoroughly enjoyed this almost untouched part of the world. The people taking care of us were exceptionally helpful and friendly. We had a great day and will definitely come back!

        Nice tour
We had a great time at the tour. The canopy walk was great and so was the boat ride going there! We enjoyed the the food at the ecovillage and the staff was super friedly.

Excellent tour company for adventures in Brunei!
I did three tours with Borneo Guide including countryside tour and monkey tour. All tours were thoughtful as to my interests and staff were lovely and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed visiting the Eco village and learning about traditional medicine and how to cook various dishes using local plants. Highly recommend Borneo Guide for tours in Brunei!

        Complete Rainforest Experience (3D2N) (SEV05)
We have just returned from the Complete Rainforest Experience: 1. Indeed, it was an experience, 2. Indeed, in a wild rainforest but.... 3. Regretably, INcomplete. Why? The program written down on Borneo Guide web site was not followed in full. a) We were accommodated in basic rooms which we found less comfortable than the glamping tents/cabins that we had paid for. The glamping tents/cabins have a beautiful river view and seem better isolated from insects than the basic rooms which were full of insects and ants at night. We were bitten severely. b) The guide was passive. We had to enquire about the schedule of each day: i) We had to insist on a fullier rainforest discovery trek through the forest, otherwise we would have been left with a light 1 - 2 hour walk. ii) The guide did not arrange the guided forest night walk which was supposed to take place on day 1 (day of arrival), As a result this activity did not take place. We would have expected the guide being pro-active and service-oriented and this was not the case here. iii) the guide abandoned us at the Bangar jetty on our way back to BSB. He gave us tickets and dissapeared. He did not lead us to the boat or helped us to find the way. He did not say good-bye. Finally, we would have thought that Sumbiling Eco Village supports nature in all its aspects. However, we witnessed some members of the community throwing lit fireworks to the river which exploded in the water - this happened during our Rainforest Discovery Trek. We find it shameful. On the positive note: when we asked about the possibility to see the sunrise from the CAnopy, it was explained to us that this could only be done from the Ulu Ulu Temburong REsort. In order to compensate our dissapointment we were offered a trek to a panoramic view point in the rainforest at dawn - we did the trek and we enjoyed the sunrise a lot. IN general, the trip wasn't bad with the canopy experience worth a while - however, the overall impression with the trip wasn't overwheliming.

Great tour- they took great care of us!
Borneo Guide took great care of us on our trip to Temburong to see the jungle. We called the afternoon before to make reservations and Julia set everything up quickly and easily. The trip to the jungle and waterfall was amazing. Beautiful sights and very relaxing. However the real standout was how well we were taken care of. Borneo guide not only gave us a great tour, but Julia also helped us find a car to take us to the ferry terminal to KK when we were departing. Even better my wife left something at the jungle village where we at lunch and Borneo Guide got it delivered to us the next day at our hotel. Our tour guide was also great and got us through this logistically complex trip with no problems. Great service!

        Great One Day Rainforest Tour
I did the one day Temburong rainforest tour with Borneo Guide. Communication prior to arriving in Brunei was not always the quickest, but worked out after all. The tour as such is an unforgettable experience, and in the day spent in Temburong National Park was the best day when in Brunei. The boat ride over there already is great, then we went by jeep to Sumbiling eco village, then with a small boat up the river. Wonderful experience. The walk into the jungle is nice, though may be disappointing for some at first, because it is a prepared trail. But the truth is: This is primary forest. With all plants and density that come with it. Logically that you just cannot walk in such primary forest as you may be able in forests in the Alps or the Rockies, but need some kind of prepared path. And it is well prepared. The canopy walk is great, high (really high!) and gives fantastic view over ontouched jungle. Then another highlight: We stopped the boat at the river, and walked up a creek. Bring shoes that can get wet, or just use your sneakers and then they will need to dry later... That walk was fantastic! Good lunch at the eco village on the way back. Unique experience, do not miss it!

        2 days 1 night
I was only in Brunei for 2 days and I decided to this trip. The family who run the company are all lovely and very involved in the day to day running. Our local guide Seha was very friendly and so were the rest of the people at sumbling eco village. The first day we were picked up and taken to the jetty where we got a boat and then a bus to the village. We went by boat to the canopy walkway and then onto the waterfall. Then back for lunch and a free afternoon to chill. I helped to make supper, bamboo chicken, which was delicious! Unfortunately the rain stopped us from our night walk and sunrise walk but that was ok. The next morning we walked in the rainforest with 5 local guides and learnt lots about some of the plants. Really enjoyed this trip although it is rather pricey!

        Beautiful national park. Tour OK
Every member of staff involved in this trip was impeccably pleasant, polite and helpful, the food was good and the national park is beautiful. I would have liked to do more trekking, ideally with my guide explaining the flora and fauna, and perhaps have a swim. Without this, the trip felt a little like a theme park as the only places I was taken were the canopy walk and a pool where fish nibble your feet. Don't get me wrong, these were both great, as were the longboat journeys, but I was expecting more. I did a lot of waiting around in between these activities. The waterbus ride is fun and scenic, though it's hard to take photos as it's a public bus. I spotted sea eagles, and possibly a crocodile but, at high speed, with only a small open window and with people around me, I wasn't able to photograph them.

        just ok
I was so excited about doing this trip with this company due to their great reviews and it was also our 1st jungle trip on arrival in Borneo but it ended up being just OK, and after doing other trips in Malaysia that were far better (better organised and more interested guides and far cheaper) we think it was way overpriced and overrated. But of course it wasn't all just OK because Ulu Temberong National Park is a must visit that has to be visited with a guide only so let me explain the good and the not so good. They picked us up a bit late, no big deal but we then were taken to the pier to get the boat only to find out we had to wait for the public boat to fill before we would go which meant we waited nearly an hour (at the price we were paying I would have expected them to have their own boat so as not to waste time waiting) and it would have been dirt cheap to have just payed what the locals paid for that boat-ride up the river. Our guide that met us was very sweet and friendly, spoke great english but we weren't given any information on the environment, wildlife, plantlife on the journey or walk in to the canopy walk. Our boat-ride from Sumbling village was fun, the canopy walk was cool (we weren't lucky enough to see any wildlife except for 1large bird that our guide couldn't tell us what it was) but the views were awesome and we had a lovely lunch at Sumbling Village before returning. So as I said it was still a good trip, we just felt it was very expensive and maybe had there been more guests (it was just myself and my husband from New Zealand and a family from Korea) there may have been a more lively atmosphere and more information given.

Day 1: city tour and water village. Day 2: Ulu National Park
I spent a few days in Brunei and reached out to Borneo Guide for two tours. As a solo traveller, I asked in advance about the possibility of joining another group, if there was one and they responded quickly to say there were none yet, but they would let me know. I booked the two trips I wanted solo. Within a few days, they advised that, if I was happy to switch days, they could combine my trip with other people and refund me the 'solo supplement' - which they did a few days later without any prompting from me. Great service. The trips themselves were very good; unfortunately I have forgotten the names of both of my guides. For the city tour, I was driven around by a gentleman all day; it was really the only way to get around the sites. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the country. He took me to all the sites listed, and we managed to squeeze in one or two more in the time we had. As I was there on a Friday, we had to break the tour for prayers - fair enough, and I was advised of this in advance. Probably the lowlight for me was the lunch that day. I was taken to a buffet restaurant after prayers. The food had been sitting out the whole time and, as we walked in, they started turning on the food heaters again. My guide left me to eat my room temperature lunch alone there, which had an effect on me later in the day. :-( Perhaps I should have said something, but I didn't want to make a fuss. I really recommend the Ulu National Park tour. We met at the jetty and took a kind of passenger speedboat up the river to the nearest town, followed by a small boat up the rapids to the national park. An amazing journey; I loved it. We climbed the 700(?) steps up to the top, followed by the canopy walk. The canopy walk involved going up a series of ladders within a scaffold and walking over bridges between the towers. I'm not great with heights, but managed it with some encouragement from the guide, who had obviously dealt with people like me before! We then visited a small waterfall where we could swim, before enjoying a late lunch and heading back to BSB. All very slick and well-organised. A great day out.

        An enjoyable excursion
Brunei Mangrove Safari This morning, on a cruise ship excursion, we had a quick tour of Bandar Seri Bagawan, the capital city of Brunei, and saw some amazing buildings, including Brunei’s largest Mosque. We then went on the Mangrove Safari along the Borneo River. We all had to wear life jackets and sat on narrow benches, facing each other in a long, narrow boat which had a motor at the back and a solid canopy above but was open at the sides, giving us good views. We passed the Water Village and the rear of the Sultan’s Palace, said to be the largest in the world. We slowed down when we reached the mangroves and, although we didn’t manage to see the endangered Proboscis Monkey, some others in our boat apparently did. Nevertheless, it was a lovely trip, most enjoyable – the only negative being the smell of the exhaust fumes.

Above and beyond my expectations although price tag seems steep initially
I am a Bruneian who had been on several Temburong trips which makes me hesitate about paying substantial amount for another Temburong trip. Decided to do it as a friend is visiting from overseas and needed a company. Little did I know it would had been so much fun, especially Brian, our guide for the trip, who might be still be relatively new (nice bubbly young man) to the business but did a really good job ensuring we had fun are well taken care of, so were the local villagers in Sumbiling. The whole social enterprise concept is on point and I am really happy to see how well Leslie and team managed to put this whole thing together while keeping it commercially sound. Personally, I think it is worth going a little bit more for the amazing facilities Eco Sumbiling Resort has to offer, as most other overnight tours in Temburong weren’t exactly cheap to begin with. It is no resort but plenty of comfort. The night walk and morning trek were very interesting and the villagers were very eager to share, explain and are very proud of their knowledge and heritage. :) Oh, did I mention we had found a couple of amazing durian, some rambutan, and a jackfruit along the way?

Of mangroves, mausoleums, and phallic-nosed monkeys
My partner and I took the 2-hour Proboscis Monkey River Safari tour along the Brunei River, into the surrounding mangroves. Leslie's insights put the significance of the swamp into perspective: as an ecosystem that's home to marshland fauna; as a source of livelihood for fisherfolk in the Kampung Ayer water village; as a government-protected area; and of course, as breath-taking scenery! We caught a glimpse of some interesting wildlife, including a whole brood of phallic-nosed proboscis monkeys, several more common urban-dwelling monkeys, and a huge crocodile (from a safe distance). The boatman was skilled at positioning the craft to give us the best vantage points, even in more cramped spots along the marshy riverbanks. The ride also includes unique views of Kampung Ayer, the Istana Nurul Iman, the Makam di Luba (Tomb of Sultan Husin Kamaluddin), and several other royal properties. A fun, enlightening, memorable experience overall.

        Ulu Temburong Day Trip
Our Daytrip to Ulu Temburong was absolutely amazing! We did the Canopy Walk, what is a must when you're in Brunei, and went after that swimming in a waterfall. Our guide Hazifan was very kind and had a big Knowledge about the jungle and Brunei Culture. And he was very funny! Everything was perfect: The pick up was punctual, the drivings very safe and the things we saw were absolutely amazing! We learned a lot about Brunei's nature and culture and will never forget that day. Thank you guys!!! Dear travellers, a Tour with Borneo Guide is worth every penny!!! You should definitely do it!

We saw just about everything there is to see in Brunei on this full day tour. Our guide, Grace, was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We covered a lot of ground in at a good pace. Unfortunately, because of the upcoming holiday, we were not able to enter the mosques, but still took pictures from outside. Lunch was delicious and a lovely location. I loved the boat ride and getting to see the proboscis monkeys!

We stayed in Brunei for four nights on the way from Australia to the UK.

We used Borneo guide for all our excursions and would recommend them and recommend travellers to stop over for a couple days.

The people are all incredibly friendly, and helpful, and nearly everyone can speak a bit of English.

Through Borneo Guide we did a few tours....
Sumbling Eco village (very, very rustic) with the Night forest walk (amazing) and the long boat up to the forest canopy walk was a joy. Even though it was monsoon season and it rained constantly, we still enjoyed our time at Sumbling immensely.

In Bandar Seri Bagawan (Capital City) we did an all day tour of the water village, having lunch there. We visited two of the most Oppulent mosques, and the night market for food.
We also did a mangrove tour and saw proboscis monkeys, water lizards and a baby crocodile.

But, what made the expeirence enjoyable and memorable were our two guides, Nazri and Qeelah. They were jovial, fun and very knowledgable. Full of stories, facts and information about everything around us.

We learnt so much, and had a fun time doing it. Nazri and Qeelah made sure we left Brunei with a great memories of a lovely holiday.

Brunei is such a small country, that stopping over for a few days means you can see so much of it. Use Borneo Guide to help make your stay there full of excursions and to see the best on offer.

I didn't really know what to expect of my short visit to Brunei. I signed up for the 5 hour tour with borneoguide.com, and my guide for the day (Faisal), was excellent.

He provided me with loads of information, his English was great, and he was very open to answering questions. I obviously have no experience with the other companies, but would highly recommend this guide. He was early showing up the hotel, great at spotting wildlife during the mangrove tour, and genuinely friendly and wanted to ensure I enjoyed. He also seemed to know everyone in Brunei, and would stop and chat and say hello.

      Great experience.

I was on my own, so had to book a solo tour, and it was expensive however.

I am going to Brunei for 2 days, so I booked this tour. I checked availability on tripadvisor, it said it was available. I placed my booking, it said it was successful, only for the company to contact me the next day and say it was not running on the date that I had booked. Very poor communication and clarity. If the tour wasn't running then those dates should not have been listed as available to book. This is just common sense

This is a review about Bruneian Guide, the tour guide.
We were in Brunei on a cruise. We booked the tour via Viator (same company as TripAdvisor) initially. It turns out the tour was only available for pickup at a hotel in town (Bandar Seri Begawan). Also, the timing for the cruise docking isn't compatible with the tour he has. So Bruneian Guide messaged me in Viator indicating as such. But he was so super helpful. Initially he tried to help me find another guide who can accommodate us. But after trying for some time, it turned out everyone he knew was already booked up (the cruise came with 3,000 passengers). Then he tried to just find us a driver (and a car), and actually found a driver for us.
Well, at the beginning of the cruise, we ran into a few fellow cruisers who happened to have space in their tour, so they invited us to join. And we decided to join their tour, as with a driver (and a car), we will have to do our own research on where to go. So we asked to cancel. Bruneian Guide was so super graceful, and just helped us cancel with the driver.
We can't thank him enough. All in all, he is just a super helpful and honest person. If we return to Brunei, he will be the first we will call.

Our driver Eric was great. His English was wonderful and we had no problem understanding him. He was very knowledgeable about the country and the culture. He made us feel very comfortable throughout the day.

The tour was fun and informative. We started at the market, where Eric explained the foods that were specific to the region. I asked him to identify a lot of the fruits and vegetables and he was happy to answer. Eric also explained the local foods at the lunch buffet so that we knew what to expect.

We visited two mosques, which were both beautiful and fascinating as I had never been inside one. Eric graciously answered all of our questions about the religion.

The river cruise was great. Eric and the boat driver managed to find us a troupe of monkeys, even though I had been told it would be hard to see them during this time of year. We also walked through the water village, which provided us with insight into the local culture.

The only thing I would change would be the amount of time we spent at the Royal Regalia Museum. It got a little repetitive after a while, and it was really cold inside! But I am definitely glad we visited as the items displayed were beautiful.

I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Brunei.

Brunei is a different Place: Ruled by a Sovereign sultan, the richest man in the world with a private Collection of more than 7000 cars (incl 450 Ferraris!). And the Sultan reminds everyone of who is in charge through lots of imposing and impressive sights: A mega-large mosque that cost $4 billion With a golden dome, Palaces for everyone to see for himself and his Family, museums of Crown regalia, royal horse stables, monuments to celebrate the Sultan's rule, etc, etc. What is Worth to see in Brunei is the Water Village where real People live, the river, and the tropical jungle along the river. As Brunei has lots of oil Revenues, they have kept the Rainforest and jungle much more intact than Indonesia and Malaysia that to a large extent have replaced rain forest With palm oil plantations. You easily see all sights of Brunei in a day - no reason to stay longer unless you want to admire more of the Sultan's achievements.
