We'll start the day early in the morning in order to get much out of it. After a short drive, we'll make a stopover to have some snacks, coffee or tea with a beautiful view. After arrival at semi-Gobi, we'll visit the local family and get introduced nomadic culture. Then ride a camel (horse) over the sand dunes, which will be instructed by our host family. After riding a camel, traditional Mongolian lunch will be served. Then we'll explore the surroundings and make hiking over the sand dunes. About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- g_zdealeyna_20200 contributionsMy best 3 days in mongoliaI had only 4 days in Mongolia and was not really sure on how spending my 4 days besides my business meetings in Ulanbator. I booked the 3 day best of Mongolia tour via NGA tour. They included everything I wanted to see like real nomad family, camel and horse riding etc. Museum tour was also very nice. If you have a limited days like me I would recommend this tour as it shows what Mongolia has to offer.Written 1 March 2020
- duzgunbulutt0 contributionsThanksMe and my friend went to central Mongolia for 3 days. And we are totally satisfied for what we saw and experienced. Food was locally made deliciously and people we met were all friendly. Greaat locations and beatiful wild nature :)Written 17 February 2020
- Elizabeth M0 contributionsBreathtaking locationIncredibly engaging and informative guide who took great care of us throughout. Disappointingly did not get to ride as confusion with nomadic family but tour company very apologetic and refunded some money. Loved sleeping in traditional yurt and waking up in such a beautiful place.Written 19 September 2019
- Yestofood0 contributionsVery good park tour but the food was amazingHad an awesome tour with Bataa! Bataa told stories and shared his knowledge of Terelj park. Although the hike up to the meditation temple was long and hilly, the view at the top was amazing and breathtaking. Bataa never rushed the hike and went at our pace. I think my favorite part of the tour would be the food. Our first stop at the park had a shop where ice cream was sold. Bataa recommend a local ice cream which was delicious. I had never seen that anywhere else in the world. Then for lunch we changed up then original plan and stopped at a tent on the side of the road to have our lunch. That was best decision ever! We had kumis, tsuivan, and khuushuur. I love to try all kinds of foods so they were delicious to me.Written 24 July 2019
- aabatmann0 contributionsWonderfulIt's amazing!! Very well organized. We has booked this tour with NGA and very satisfied as it was well communicated beforehand, well organized and took care of us throughout the trip. Mongolia but want to have as much as you can.Written 17 July 2019
- bettysuisse0 contributionsGreat experienceMe and my friend booked this tour after researching many others and ended up booking with them. Our tour guide Otko was fluent in English and knows every detail about the places we visited. And our guide Tuugu was so professional and kind. Plus customer care was great and everything was thought and well prepared. We are still missing those moments we spent together with Otko & Tuugu. Thank you guys so much for this experience! We are so happy that we booked with you :) The sunsets in Karakorum & Ugii lake was remarkably beautiful! I highly recommend this tour! I will come back with my family for more tours like this.Written 24 June 2019
- MattHiro0 contributionsEfficient and flexible tourSince I stayed at a Central Ulaanbaatar hotel, going to touristic sites which are not walkable was a bit of headache due to my limited local language ability. This tour company solved this issue at a reasonable cost while I maintain greater flexibility in the choice of museum visits in Ulaanbaatar city center. The guide and the driver were young in their twenties, have good command of English and are friendly. I recommend this tour to anyone touring Ulaanbaatar in an efficient manner.Written 27 April 2019
- hannajomeans0 contributionsSuperb customer care and informationTsoki was well-prepared with water and snacks for our trip, provided great information, engaged in general conversation, and went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and happy along the way. I have a bad back and chronic pain and she did everything to take care of me. It is obvious she not only knows her country but also cares deeply about her customers. I highly recommend this company and will hopefully be doing another tour with them while in Mongolia.Written 11 April 2019

My family and I (2 kids, ages 12 and 8) had an amazing experience on this tour. Our guide, Bat, was exceptional! He was friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and punctual. It is a very long drive, which we were prepared for, but Bat knew so much of the local history/culture that we learned so much. Bat also noticed when our youngest fell asleep in the car and he knew to keep quiet for a while to let the kiddo sleep. Our driver, Erdene, was equally incredible. The roads are bumpy and sometimes dangerous. But Erdene stayed alert and drove carefully throughout the trip. This allowed the rest of us to relax and enjoy. We would recommend bringing a book or a travel pillow for the long drive.
We enjoyed the camel ride (you may need to remind the local camel owner that you've paid for an hour), and had time to sled some of the dunes. We also enjoyed our time meeting the nomadic locals and we appreciated their generosity/hospitality.
We loved this trip, but if you aren't prepared for a long/bumpy card ride, you may want to skip it.

The travel was very long over 5 hours each way and the road very bumpy with lots of pit holes. The vehicle we were travelling in was very uncomfortable, six people in a small mini van and only stopped once by the roadside when someone was desperate for the loo. The tour guide was lovely but slept both ways of the journey so not very informative. Despite this the time spent in the Gobi was worth it and we had a great time riding camels.

This was a great trip away from the hustle and bustle of Ulaanbaatar. We truly enjoyed the camel ride through the desert; even the road trip itself was a memorable experience as we saw over 100 horses being herded across the road. Our guide was charming and knowledgeable making this a truly wonderful experience.

I reported the tour guide to the management team. This is something I rarely do. I travel frequently and once in a blue moon, the tour guide does not meet the very basics of professional standards in the tourism sector. I get the impression this guide received no training at all (including about etiquette and attitude when dealing with customers), perhaps due to staff shortage. His conduct is completely unlike any of the other guides I had while in Mongolia. NGA Tour Bureau's Management was courteous in responding to the feedback I provided.
On a positive note, despite what is written above, the driver on our tour was professional at all times. He got us to and from the main attraction (a long 3+ hour drive one way) safely, even with the difficult roads and snow. The views were beautiful! I enjoyed seeing a traditional nomad family's home. I would recommend travellers to Mongolia to go to the Gobi Dessert and see the spectacular views.

Don't deal with this company. In May 2023 I booked and paid for a Semi-Gobi tour. NGA never confirmed the booking, never responded to emails or phone calls but accepted the payment. A day-light robbery that is.

This was a wonderful day trip out to the Gobi desert. We got to ride on the camels, visit a local herdsman and his family who offered us the traditional fermented milk and the hardened milk snack. It was a wonderful experience and our tour guide and driver were very helpful and kind throughout the entire day often times explaining the history and pointing out different places of interest. They provided breakfast and we had one of the traditional soups for lunch. It was a day well spent with good company. Yes, it is lot of driving, but if you are booking such tour, you should count with it. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed this tour tremendously. I signed up alone and ended up going with a small group to see the Semi-Gobi and I was able to ride a Bactrian camel there. It was an all day excursion but the views you get on the ride out there and while riding the camels were outstanding. I would recommend this to my friends if they ever make it out to Mongolia.

This was a great road trip with great guides! The beautiful rolling hills were all there to see as we drove down the highway towards the Semi Gobi area. Urtaa was a great guide; friendly, hospitable and helpful. We made a few stops along the way to take in the beauty before stopping at a Ger camp. It is notable that the drove is 4+ hours. The family made us delicious food and took us on a camel ride! After some time there we hit the road again. Urtaa was great on the way back, sharing stories and being a bit of fun.

Guides were nice and informative and the camels were hilarious. But this is a long, long trip for a single day. It is >10hrs of driving time for a ~90min experience. Recommend making this a two day excursion and finding a place to stay near the camels.

This is a good tour to see the country side and enjoy a good long ride.
The car, the driver and tour guide Mary were all nice. Marys English is great and explained things all the way. The ride was long for the short Camel ride. However Mary recognized that and we visited a monastery as a bonus. That was really nice with a cool hike.
I suggest combining that as a practice.
The lunch place was really nice and clean along the way.
If you plan on this plan on being out 12 hours or so.
Thanks Mary
