Trip to Kandy
Awesome experience. Driver and the guide were very friendly. HIs name was Kumar . The drive was very tiring for us and well as for the drivers. I would certainly suggest using this company for the trip. Worth the money spent.

Stunning tour and extremely impressive customer service.
I booked (via Viator) this private tour (just me and the driver who was also the guide) from Colombo. When I missed a flight and didn't get into Colombo until the next day, I messaged the company and they immediately responded to tell me that we could do the tour the next day, no problems or questions asked. In fact, we had to leave at 4am instead of 6am just so they could immediately take me to the airport to catch my next flight at 7pm. Again, no problem whatsoever. It is so refreshing to deal with people who are so flexible. I'm sure if it was a group tour (or less expensive) than it might not have been as flexible, but I felt very well taken care of. The driver/guide (one person) spoke very good English, had a great sense of humor, was kind to start the tour so early, and did not rush me AT ALL. We did not make any unnecessary souvenir stops either that I'm sure other tours force you to do. The cave and lion rock (Sigiriya) were really interesting places and must be a highlight of Sri Lanka. I probably wouldn't go to Sri Lanka and miss those places. A note of caution, climbing the stairs at Sigiriya was intense, both because at times you are looking down the face of a cliff (perfectly safe but might bother some who are afraid of heights). I'm in just so-so shape and probably have never sweated more in my entire life. But since you're not rushed at all, you can stop and catch your breathe multiple times. If I had friends or family visiting Sri Lanka, I would be sure to get the same guide and company for them.

Nayomi island Excursions
We travel....a lot, and this was an epic adventure! What we saw was amazing but even more impressive was the logistics behind our travel. Our trip was flawless. All the transportation and local guides were on time and extremely nice. Our main guide Nayomi were very special and wonderfully knowledgeable and went out of her way to make our trip special. I will highly recommend Active Adventure to everyone.”

"Not worth it"
My friends and I booked the Southern Sri Lanka Sightseeing Private Day Trip on October 8, 2019 Operated by Beyond Escapes via Tripadvisor. We were picked up on time but there was no English speaking tour guide like it was advertised on the website. We were really disappointed when we realized the driver was the so-called tour guide. He was busy driving, so he did not have to provide any information to us and we didn’t feel safe and comfortable to ask the driver any questions while he was driving. Then we placated ourselves that when we reached the destinations the driver would tell us more about Sri Lanka. But it turned out our driver was not knowledgeable or proactive; often times we as tourists had to take initiative to ask questions like “ is there anything about this place that we should know about?” he then only told us very basic information. The driver also didn’t manage our time very well; instead of driving us to the lunch place on time, (we were really hungry) but he still dropped us off at his favorite Gemstone place (not mentioned in the tour itinerary) hoping we would buy something there. We then had no option but to skip the Mask museum which was actually on the itinerary! We stopped at the so-called “popular local restaurant” for lunch. Except for the nice breeze and Madu river view, this place was not a restaurant at all. The place was under construction and the toilet smelled. We paid 270$ for three of us to go on this tour thinking we would have a great lunch experience but our lunch sadly was just a plate of cold fried rice, cold fried fish and some french fries and some salad. One of us ordered a coke; it was not even cold; we asked for some ice; they said they didn’t have any ice. By the way, the drinks were not included in the tour fee. Plus, the driver jumped straight into the food without any proper introduction or presentation about what type of food we were about to have. Another let down. After lunch we boarded the speed boat to cruise around the Madu river, the boat trip was okay, we stopped at the place where we learned how Cinnamon oil and Cinnamon power are made, but everyone greeted us as if we were Chinese. We are not Chinese, so please don’t assume every Asian is Chinese and say “Ni-hao”! If you know exactly where people are from, feel free to greet them in their language; otherwise it will just annoy people. To sum it up, though we saw some nice sites, we spent most of our time driving and learned very little. We were sold an English speaking tour guide, but in the end received an expensive driver.

Interesting museum at start of the tour including toilets! Recommend starting your day very early to avoid the heat and crowds. Walk through the gardens and over the ancient moat as you approach the rock itself - and then you start the assent. The Lion Paws are about half way up , and from there it is mainly metal steps that are very steep. You come down a separate flight of stairs back to the Lion Paws. Exhausting! Fabulous view at the top though.

Fantastic Safari!
Safari was superb and they had arranged both a driver and a guide unlike some of the other safaris. This was key because the guide (chooty) was very knowledgeable and would regularly keep me posted on what we were seeing as he sat with me in the back and the driver (Ramesh) could focus on the driving. They communicated with each other very well! Chooty worked really really hard using his understanding of animal habits to ensure we saw the elusive Leopard and we did which was glorious! The driver picked me up from the hotel promptly and dropped me back and his wife prepared a really tasty Sri Lankan lunch for us which we eat during the Safari on some picnic tables they had packed in the car. Both Chooty and Ramesh seemed to really care about the animals and their conservation which was really nice to see! Finally, they had a pair of binoculars with them which made spotting the animals really easy as I have been on other safaris, it's difficult without getting too close to see them properly. Definitely recommend using them :-) see photos!

Fantastic Day Trip!
This day trip was a great way to spend our short stay in Sri Lanka. We saw two beautiful, historical places with an awesome drive through the beautiful country of Sri Lanka in between. Mr. Shavendra was our driver and he was amazing! He gave us interesting information about Sri Lanka, different areas we drove through, the country's history and was also very considerate throughout the day - asking how we were, if we were comfortable, hungry, thirsty etc. (at the end of the journey, my partner was asleep in the back, he answered his phone and spoke very quietly so not to disturb her). 5 stars out of 5 for Mr. Shavendra!

Great morning tour of Colombo from Negombo Hotel
Had an amazing private tour of Colombo with pick up from our Negombo hotel. Our tour guide Mr. Shanaka was friendly, courteous and very knowledgeable of Colombo, Negombo and Sri Lanka. Learned a lot and made great new memories for our first visit to Sri Lanka. Thank you Mr. Shanaka!!

Professional & Easy
Hiran and his team were fast in their response times to any queries or requests we had, and dealt with our last minute changes like champs! It was a long day from Colombo to Sigiriya but the arrangements (private car, driver - Kumara, breakfast venue, lunch venue and the tour itself) was fantastic. We regretted that Kumara was stopped from guiding us up the rock once we got there but he was a wealth of knowledge and it was great to be able to connect. He took good care of us, as did Hiran with the arrangements. We would definately use BE again and we recommend them.

8 days customized trip
I have only very good things to tell both about Sri Lanka and Beyond Escapes. They tailored a customized guided tour for us with our own Van throughout this beautiful country and we further tweaked it as we go along. Even with a 3 year old packed with us everything were smooth and wonderful. Can't recommend anything more. If you have the chance ask for Imran. He was the one to drive us around and made everything so much better!

The tour operator was very responsive, getting back to me within minutes of booking the tour. The driver guide Imran was informative and helpful, and tried to accommodate our dinner booking by having us back in Colombo in time. Great to see the ancient palace.

Stairway to Heaven
The Sigiriya Rock Fortress is a must see. Lots of steps but it is worth it. I would however recommend that you travel on a weekday. Early when it is a little cooler. It get quite warm, and the walking heats you up. Take plenty of water. The weekends are so busy with both local and visitors it takes much longer to each the top.

Fabulous first experience of Sri Lanka
We booked the eight day tour with Beyond Escape and added visits to the Pinnawala orphanage and the botanical garden to that for a wonderful 9 day tour. Communication with the Beyond Escape office was very prompt and helpful and everything on the tour was well organised and allowed us to visit every part of the planned tour. We really liked all the choices made regarding accommodation, outings and lunches. Mr Christo our driver met us at the airport and was very helpful throughout the tour, helping us constantly when we would have struggled on our own and adjusting the tour to make sure we got everything and more out of the tour. He was always happy to chat and added fun to our tour. We always felt safe and everybody we met was completely friendly to us and everybody seemed to be glad that we were there. Everything was a highlight although I would mention Wilpattu National Park, Anuradhapura, Kandulla National Park, the village experience and the royal botanical garden. Thank you everybody for a fabulous holiday.
